I would consider if they made another run of the reflex sights.

So far the running list is get a small part so the window will stay in the track. Figure out the drivers side door latch and lock mechanism, then get it all put together in the door (that actually worked right before I took the door apart for the window)

Then it needs a starter, I'll fill the carb with Ether and wait for the glorious fireball. After that it needs a new tire for one of the wheels, a tranny swap because the current one is slipping, a small light in the rear is out and needs replaced, and then probably a seat cover, and bondo on a rust patch, then a paint job. The body is in really great condition other than one small patch of rust.

I can probably get it back on the road for $1500 total. Should be a pretty sweet truck to fuck around with.

Just a little wheel that rides in the lower track needs replaced, it was nowhere to be found in the door. Hopefully NAPA can hook me up.

I have no idea how I am going to get the latch and lock mechanism back in. You have to gerbil jam the shit out of it to get it in and out, so I'm not sure how the fuck I'm going to go about that because it uses almost like 16 gauge galvanized wires to push/pull the mechanisms. Honestly I am dreading figuring that out more than the tranny swap.

Will need some help for the tranny swap, mostly just extra hands. The process seems straight forward. Drop the drive shaft, wiring harness and other hookups, then disconnect the cross member and figure out how to disconnect the bell housing from the torque converter.

Probably going to pull a tranny from a Suburban or some shit. It's not like you can't find R700/4L60s fucking everywhere in salvage yards.

Ok I can help a bit. Step 1, get a Haynes manual for your truck. Look here for reference.

NAPA and Oreilly tend to carry these books in house and they are invaluable. Trust me, I know. They may have a recommended way to remove and install the door mechanics.

With the tranny swap put at least the front end on jack stands. Best tool when swapping is a rolling floor jack to hold, lift and manuever the tranny. The bell housing will disconnect from the backside of the block itself the torque converter will either be inside that or mount directly to the fly wheel on the backside of the motor.

In order to get the window part you may have to scavenge in the salvage yard, if a parts supplier sells it, it probably comes with an entire assembly you may not need.

I know I will need to put the front of the truck on jackstands, as well as support the tranny with a floor jack to remove it. So when I disconnect the bell housing, the torque converter will stay put wherever it is, while I remove the actualy transmission?

And I may indeed be paying a trip to the salvage yard for the window part.

I found a video on removing the 4L60 from a C1500, it was pretty easy to follow right up until the torque converter and bell housing bit.

Shouldn't be too awful, and I am going to get this door fixed first so I can stop taping a trash bag over the window.

So I have to figure out the lock and latch mecahnism. I would be lying if i wasn't worried about it. Hopefully a Haynes manual has the secrets I crave.

There are other equivalent options, it was merely an example. Colt, Stag, CMT and BCM receiver extensions are equally well regarded and three of those have contracts.

What you're describing is the difference between a $15 receiver extension and a $35 receiver extension, not that it couldn't be something else.
