Might want to get a belt that doubles as a belt rig in your case, ala >>33059621 's attackPAK

There's also Hill People Gear that let you put on or off a belt quickly from their main packs. I'm sure other belts can work too. Direct Action's Ghost pack has a removable battle belt that can be taken off the main pack and it includes suspenders for you to use as a battle belt.

I plan on getting one of those two because I'll be running a chest rig with essential shit, and if I'm going to have the pack I may as well go all out.

Would this be a good option for a belt mounted tearaway IFAK? I am looking for good belt mountable options and sorta wish this one came in a horizontal configuration.

So far my belt setup is looking like it will be an AWS belt, two fastmags, esstac KYWI double pistol pouch and then my M&P CORE in a bladetech holster. Then whenever I get around to grabbing an IFAK I will toss that on

Who doesn't like brown?

I'm of the opinion
The lighter the color the better when it comes to earth tones just don't go full retard and think UCP is a good choice. but lighter colors tends to attract less heat and gets dirty all they same.

My HSGI is stuffed when I put in a celox zfold, standard gauze and a SWAT-T. Chest seal would most likely not fit unless bent a shitload.
The Zfold takes up a lot of space inside pouches.

I just bought a PASGT helmet, and was wondering if you guy's had any experience with them? Can you buy electronic hearing protection that fits under them? Will mine still be bullet proof? and is the ratchet strap night vision mount any good?
>>
What's the verdict on NFM here? Anyone even heard of them?
>>
>>33062120
Why would you ever buy a P(ASS)GT? Maybe if under $20...
>>
>>33062120
>PASGT helmet, and was wondering if you guy's had any experience with them?
I do.
>Can you buy electronic hearing protection that fits under them?
A lot of stuff will technically fit under them, not comfortably though.
>Will mine still be bullet proof?
Depends on how it was stored and treated. They were only ever equal to roughly NIJ II brand new anyway though.
>is the ratchet strap night vision mount any good?
They work decently. NODs + PASGT chinstrap and suspension is a bitch though.

Advice is that PASGT helmets are fashionable wall hangers and conversation pieces, not anything to wear for any practical reason. MICH/ACH helmets are relatively cheap now and even with just GI standard everything, they are miles ahead of the PASGT.

If you absolutely want to wear your PASGT helmet, wear a ballcap under it so it doesn't sink down and cover your eyes when you run around with it.

>>
>>33062307
As long as you can get into it. Worst case scenario, it isn't great and you move to a more standard medical pouch as your main IFAK and you keep this one around part time and put it in your car or something.

I, personally, don't like zippers on immediate aid medical kits, but that's autistic personal taste.

Thanks for the info, I bought mine from a surplus shop with all the various accessories. I was mainly going to have it was a wall hanger or a cheaper alternative for a night vision mount, silly I know. It was only $30 for it and didn't have any dents, chips, or warping. I did want to shoot it with some electronic ear pro though. What would do you know that works?

Honestly just get plugs like the Surefire EPs. The way the suspension inside the PASGT is with the tan band leaves no channel for earpro bands to fit (ACHs have the velcro pads that can be moved out of the way). The "ear pro"- really just commo sets, so you don't get any active hearing boost, used in the PASGT era were like pic related. They had to have a band going around the head front to back to keep the headset on because of the PASGT's suspension. And they were often only one-ear designs.

it's a modified desert night parka. They were issued during desert storm. They were designed to fool the first generation Russian night vision systems the Iraqi army had. They were worn by British and American forces. they went on to be worn by special forces well into the 2000s. they were/are worn more for nostalgia then actual effectiveness. The troops who were actually issued them wore them more often as bath robes then camouflage.

http://www.armynavysales.com/products/night-desert-parka/

there are also reversible versions that are water proof goretex and have a three color desert on the reverse.

It's a meme camo. I say that as somebody who loves it. It literally works worse than normal camos against night vision.

The parka itself is ok as light light wind, light rain jacket, but it's not totally proof'd against either. I got my jacket cut short and had velcro wrist adjustments installed. It's wearable in public on rainy days since 99% of people don't realize its camo.

i have several of them. I really like the pattern and the history. it's from my favorite era of military aesthetics and they are cheap. as far as the actual quality goes they are made with the same materials as surplus bdus and have quality stitching. They can accept a liner and can be used at a moderate jacket. The aren't water proof or anything. Also they run large because they are designed to go over all of your clothing and gear. If you want it to fit like jacket order one size smaller then your bdu size. I wear large regulars and the one in that picture is a large with a couple inches cut off the bottom to make it fit more like a jacket and less like a parka. As you can see in this picture the sleeves are fucking huge.

>>33064807
read the tacsop on the website.

it says ": Woodland, Olive Drab, or any RUSFOR camouflage."

grey is only mentioned as an approved color for NATO wet weather gear. As militia we are supposed to avoid any modern tactical clothing arcteryx jackets would be a strictly nato thing.

>>33064841
>It literally works worse than normal camos against night vision.

it isn't designed to work against modern western night vision.
>>
>>33064950
It didn't even work against the equalvalent to Gen 2+ the Iraq armor had.

It's a fantastic bit of creative theory (make camo that looks like static fuzz) and it is AESTHETIC, but only a fool would defend it on the practicality front even in the time it was fielded.

>>
>>33065153
I should have been more specific, it didn't even work when fielded against the NV it was used against. It's a weird, aesthetic meme camo. It's right up there with Urban-T and UCP-D which are enjoyable for their quirkiness.

To his defense, not everyone who knows about plate carriers might find it informative

If you watch the video in 1080 I think you can see that it says LTC Qual at the top. Someone check me on that.

I think he explained the IFAK was so he could get it with both hands. And he meant that the odds of using your chrome plated pistola to get 100+ leet kills was unrealistic
>>
>>33065400
It might be informative to someone who is starting at zero, not to criticize him to heavily, but if you know nothing and then learn the wrong shit.. I mean.. your worse off.

And saying that having your ifak on your 3' is so you can get at it with both hands, but placing your pistola farther away is retarded. Theres not even an argument to be made and you know he has basically no medical experience because he says "What if I have to pick one piece of gauze out". Everyone whos ever done anything medical in real life knows you dont have time to pick through which gauze you want in your pouch on your side. You rip all that shit out. Its just the reality of a time sensitive situation. Your motor skills diminish due to stress, anxiety, and adrenaline.

And to say that your never going to need your pistola because your primary is never going to go down is equally dumb. What if you dont have your primary with you? And now your pistol is your primary? And its hidden in your ass crack?

I appreciate his effort, dedication, and slight redeeming autism but anyone who takes advise from that is looking in the wrong place.

Im not going to disect him that bad, and i didnt watch all his shit, so your right, you might find some decent shit in there. But he did say he has "never heard of anyone using a side arm in modern combat" which, must be of lack of research considering theres confirmed hand to hand combat and Etool kills from all sorts of shit going down. So yes. People have used their side arm.

And I really really really think the ifak thing is dumb. I mean if he didnt have a pistol on his belt, id say its fine. But to have your pistol farther away and harder to get at than medical supplies? Idk man, id rather shoot someone and stop them from shooting me, then patching a hole in my chest quickly because i already got shot.

And there is stuff I liked in his video, like I only have two pistol mags on my belt too, but some shit he says idk..
>>
>>33065684
I found a few good things, some tings i don't like. I can't say why he didn't research sidearm use

he has a point for ifak placement if your not going to wear a plate carrier since i wouldn't want to put mine in an obsure hard to reach place. i like mine on my thigh better with another in my plate carrier
where do you put yours?

plus it looks like he just started. only has like 14 subs and a handful of views
i don't make youtube vids but i see how it could be easy to criticize especially to someone new so i cut him some slack

I have a tear off pouch on my 6o clock. Pic related. Basically I just unclip it and pull it off, either hand works fine and I have the materials.

I prefer to keep my legs clear of items, for freedom of movement. I think the placement of his ifak would have been fine if he wasnt now impeding his ability to get to a fire arm. We had a saying in TCCC, the best medicine is fire superiority.

I wish him the best of luck, and hope he evolves, I wont hate on anyone who has a drive to make more content for the people, just aslong as they learn as they go and dont think they are gods (insert nutnfancy.jpg)

Depends what rip off one you get. For example, pic related, is secured by a buckle first. So you undo the buckle and then rip it off a large piece of velcro its attached to (Which the clips are attached to, which attaches to your belt with alice straps, so its secure af)

The ones that are just Velcro im skeptical aswell, but there are good options out there.

Things to know about bundeswehr surplus. (Concscript/pre molle)

The plastic is PA66 plastic. This plastic does not fuse to itself or other pa66 things well. You will need to fuse it with other things like poly/nylon. It's easier to push a hole through it and fuse paracord to it to make a quick fix to the fastener. You can use the fasteners to make holders for antennas and mount them behind the KampfTasches. They will be held in place by friction and pressure from the bag, stuff inside, and if mounted upside down, gravity. Don't mount a Kampftasche (butt pouch equivalent) on the shoulder blades. It will cause the harness to drag down on your ass. You can run paracord through the holes in the front to lock the belt and prevent it from shifting around or coming out of that shitty canvas loop. Parts of the harnesses are canvas, others are polyester.

newqueer reporting. Got an AWS OCPC. First time I've ever handled a PC, but I've spent a lot of time innawoods with hunting hiking and camp gear and this thing feels pretty damn rugged. Got some old ESAPIs from a friend. I don't trust their condition for actual use but I don't see why I can't use them for running around and getting accustomed to the weight while I save for new plates.

Anyone have the AWS belt? I was thinking about using that for a pair of STANAGs, (total 6) a pair of 9mm mags, and holster.
>>
>>33067494
When bubba'd like mine? Slightly butt heavy but quite usable in bb wars and shit. Shorten the back straps and keep the front long. Also, if you're planning to ever go prone, don't mount mag pouches in the front. The pouches are held by plastic pieces. You might break them, they might stress and fracture, but most importantly, its pressing right into your gut. You can mount mags on the front if you're wearing a SplitterWeste or whatever the flak vest is called. Plate carrier under this might be breddy comfy.

Your main weight concerns are the FlascheTasche/water, loaded mags, larger radios, field rations. Your best way to mitigate weight causing sag on the LBE is to get a small assault pack and wearing that over the top.

Evening gear queer. Taking suggestions on a gun belt.

The HTC rig really got me interested in a setup that could serve as both a competition and course rig as well as a low visibility solution to my gearfag needs should the need arise.

Leaning towards doing a velcro underbelt similar to most competition setups and a Comp-tac velcro lined leather belt with the kit over top, outside of the loops.

Also thought about going full competition belt, but that would not serve as well for low visibility.

Also thought about the velcro under belt with a 1.5" or 1.75" cobra riggers belt over top outisde the loops, but that also kills the low visibility aspect.

Suggestions, belt recommendations, fresh ideas all welcome. The belt(s) are the last piece of the puzzle I need to buy and would like to get them ordered tomorrow/tonight.

Appreciate the suggestion but I've really been moving away from the idea of another cobra style rigger setup. Just sold an SOE cobra rigger's belt I had.

Heavily debating picture related. HTC is more price competitive for once and the fact their belt turns into what is basically a rigger's at the sides and rear, as well as tapers out to 1.75" vs the 1.5" of the comp-tac has me leaning their way.

Depends on where you are, and what other gear you have IMO. If you have a PC, get it to all match. In which case id say do not get black anything. If its just a belt? It doesn't really matter much. I mean unless your using it for patrolling/tactical operations where your really really worried about concealment, then it wont make much of a difference.

Also if you wear camo dont get black anything either.

Finally got my poorfag shit together. Thanks to the suggestions few threads ago I'll be looking at a ronin shooters belt.

Currently everything stays in place due to alice clips, no real sliding. I use the riggers belt to hold up my pants, then wear the tactical belt around it. Belt keepers are just for extra making sure it doesn't shift around but it's p snug anyway.

I would move the canteen off the belt. This is working towards a distinction in having a light and wearable belt and not a loadbearing system. Canteens on belts can suck. Get a camelback and/or (preferably 'or') stick some canteens on a bag. Recommend adding a dump pouch.

Ditch the knee pads entirely.

Better in-ear plugs (surefires) and you will be set there.

If the green pouch is medical is should either be tearaway or have an internal tear out pouch (USGI IFAK interior style).

2-point sling for the rifle.

The /operator general/ threads were super short lived, to my disappointment. Still working on an "abridged" FM 3-22.9. I've taken a new tack; instead of simply deleting much of the repetitive aspects, I've begun totally rewriting it from scratch to be shorter, simpler, and more geared towards individuals or pairs of people than for a large military unit. Sticking highly to sourcable information and spirit of FM and TCs, but am adding annoted aspects with personal notes or outside non-military sourced opinions where I think are appropriate.

I figure /gq/ is probably the audience that might care about that kind of training.

It's become a bear of a project, since now I'm totally rewriting it. Originally I just wanted to delete irrelevant portions and remove acronyms, but the writing is very entangled with a lot of steps on how to set up and run a military event. Now I'm just taking the phiolsophy and information and rewording it to be reader friendly. I want a sub-100 page guide to basic and intermediate shooting that includes qualifications that somebody can DIY and track without a lot of infrastructure. Writing it between my real life as well, of course.

It's hard not to inject my opinions, but I'm trying to keep it as a pure "rifle for babby" thing, since the world is saturated with high speed training.
