Stupid question, but does anyone have a packing list that I can use? I feel like there should be something in the sticky. I have a camping bag already packed but I want this one to be war oriented. I'm thinking along the lines of more socks, foot powder, and that kind of thing. I don't want to forget something.

Im currently setting up a three day pack for day hikes and overnighting/ fishing once March hits, and the ALICE pack for camping and staying fora few days while relaxing. Im managing to fit what I need in the assault pack but as it stands it can last me about 48 hours if I choose my food right and only bring a change of pants.

Its hard because I want to plan for contingencies but also want to keep the load light enough to where I can hike all day and not be angry by the time I set up camp. And the most portable foods taste like crap or cost too much for me to consider the investment over and overnight at the lake.

Im still experimenting. Dry I think my pack is 25 lbs., I need to add food to that as well. At most I think Id camp for three days while Im here so Im not too worried and some weight loss will be good if the fish arent biting.

I could just grab some MREs and my Sawyer, but that wouldnt be comfy, and some Hemingway books and a pint of vodka need to make it on the packing list too.

Pic related is my goal once I return home, not sure which route to do.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but does anyone have poncho recs? I'm trying to get into hunting but I don't want to sink a fuckton of money into a camo "system" of different layers for different weather conditions. I feel like it would be cost effective to dress for the weather with the earth tone stuff I already have and then throw a poncho of an appropriate pattern over the top for concealment and silhouette breakup.

Thoughts? Not /gq/ enough?

I get that school of thought, but this is my "oh shit" setup. Infantry will carry 6 to 8 mags, i figured that was a good standard to go by.

Yes I've tested range of movement. The rig sits high enough that its not a problem.
>>
>>33050785

I will, just haven't had much time to go outdoors alone. This summer I will likely have time, but I'm going to blow my money on some gear that I need before then. I had my car stolen and they took a lot of my things, so I need to get everything together before then. Also need to fix her up since they painted over her body before recovery. Fucking tweakers.

>>33050822

I'm not sure, I read around that it was tightly woven but it's probably waxed.

>>33050835

I don't own one, just want one in modern materials as I like the concept. If it were mine I'd replace the toggles with buttons if it keeps doing that.
>>
>>33050822
They're made of rugged as fuck canvas. They're treated with a long term waterproofer before they get shipped to the troops but you can always put something new on like paraffin, but don't light any fires near it if you do. Mine isn't waxed and it keeps me dry just fine.
>>
>>33050974

>>
>>33051023

Ah, derp. I already have two coats that are more or less rainproof but I wouldn't want to be in them for a long time. plash it is, or something made from modern materials someday.

>>33050988

If you're going to make it a do everything pack, get something with some sort of compression straps and maybe an internal frame for load carriage, and of course that gets you more into a dual strap config if you're going to carry that much weight. I don't have the skills to survive off of what's in my pockets so bunch of shit comes with me. But if you can do that, then I don't see a reason why not get one of those single sling packs. Just don't get a big ass pack or else you'll find stuff to fill in the space with.
>>
>>33051033
Sweet, I think I'm going to get a couple.

I do have friends who carry similar loadouts. Calling us a "fire team" is a bit over the top, just dudes with rifles.

Everyone's gear is set up for their situation. If the happening happens this is what i want to have.

Word up, so we carried 3 AK mags in these chest rigs we got issued (LBT no less, I guess some Major is a /gq/ too)

We would prefer that we carried more and I was always 3+1. But when doing BLUFOR things we would go full combat load and sometimes even more, with buddy mags in pouches MOLLE'd to assault packs and crossloading of 5.56 and 7.62 belts.

My advice is carry an amount that enables you to get away, 5 to 6 mags should be good, with one to two mags used to suppress your ambushers and enable you to get some distance.

Now if you are trying to blend in, YMMV. We would hide rigs under mandresses or Columbia jackets, with mandresses being better. But you could ostensibly hide a triple mag shingle on a thin chest rig under a jacket and it not be noticeable unless someone is overtly looking.

Pic very much related.

Also the CAPTCHA wanted me to select the tripod out of the grid.

The tripod for a crew served weapon...

Yeah, they don't charge you until they ship it out toward your direction.
I forgot how long mine took to get to me since I've ordered from them quite a lot.

I've had orders from AWS get shipped out from 1-2 days to 4 months later.
It depends on what they have in-stock and how busy they are when you have placed your order.

>>33051058
It's just adhesive velcro, I tactically placed on my pouches so they would have some tactical grip to my tactical belt.
I used sandpaper to ruffian up the surface of the eggroll so velcro would stick better.

I first stumbled upon BlackPoint Tactical when people were giving them praise for the Leather WING holster being one of the most comfortable OWB kit on the market.

I've been meaning to get a WING for a good year now but haven't really had the motivation to part from my shekels.

Oh, I didn't see MOLLE attachments on their site. Coincidentally I was browsing them this morning for a holster for a future cc purchase--a G19. Do you happen to know a source? I was also thinking about ghetto rigging MALICE clips onto it as well. But I did come across BFG that had some MOLLE ten speed double pouches I might pick up instead. Decisions, decisions.

The cotton balls soaked in petroleum jelly is incredibly efficient and it holds up extremely well to the wind when getting a fire started. Just one little cotton ball is enough to easily get a healthy fire that turns into a big blaze going. It's a lot easier to carry them in my holing pack than a bunch of lighter fluid.

The above pictured pack is going for the best possible weight and effectiveness efficiency that I can get.

can we call greyman something else, the amount of time itll take to unzip your jacket, and pull a rifle out of your pack would defeat the purpose of being greyman.

it is a nice shtf set up, but id run the chest rig outside the jacket. Your going to get soaked in the rain becuase you have it zipped open and people are gonna know you have shit anyway, since your patrolling around
>>
>>33054506
Nice. I like the idea of a stealth rig. Maybe when i get some extra dosh i will put one together, throw it my trunk.

Like a low key "get home rig"
>>
>>33054545
So, I've thought about that. I honestly think this concept would work if I had a very lo-vis pistol belt. The rifle would be the method of making sure multiple armed threats would be put down while maintaining control of the situation.

>>33054564
That's kinda the point of it really.
>>
>>33052603
Ok, well just ship it to me when you get it, then just wait for me to purchase some night vision, then I'll try it, run it through the paces and send it back to you promptly. Thank you.
>>
>>33054617
I agree, I think a low-vis belt is really the only reasonable way to greyman above just CC normally. I mean some guys out there have their pistol AR they try to conceal, but they all look like ass, and even if they do pull it off, its not like they could run around with a ar pistol in their asshole. I think when most people are referencing the term greyman though they are just commonly referring to a civilian esque set up for combat.

Leaving the bag itself on is interesting, but I'd personally get something with bigger holes as a mesh if you're going to DIY it, so you have room to tie some jute on and really get some use out of it.

With laundry bags, I've been playing with using them as face shrouds and flash kills. Both applications have middling results, but it's cheap experimentation.

Two highly invasive items which I'd never recommend for a kit to anybody not trained, cert'd, and comfortable with.

>>33058178
Medical tape, multiple chest seals, headlamp.

Pack only the items you feel comfortable using- civilian medical kits unlike military IFAKs pretty much assume that you are the only user. Pack as many extras of TQs, gauze, and seals as you can fit. Those are your trauma bread & butter.

Reserve kit separate from the trauma kit with aspirin, antibiotic cream, alcohol prep pads, tweezers, safety pin, salt & sugar (to dump into water for somebody going down from heat), space blanket.

Remember that nothing in a first aid kit is a permanent fix for life threatening injury it's all there to delay injury effects until you pass somebody or yourself off to a real professional. To that end marking and signaling is extremely important. Cell phones are the standard, of course, so make sure you can field charge one. Pack overkill for signaling and lighting in case you need medical evacuation from innawoods.
>>
>>33058216
That's Army Thinking. For the civilian GQs here, there is absolutely no assumption that anybody else is going to use your gear on you. Self-aid is the primary and only aid a GQ should be worrying about unless they are mil/LEO.

The chest seal is a twin pack, forgot to say.
I also know it's easy to make an improvised chest seal from the plastic wrappers of various things (e.g. compression bandage).
Tape is another thing I forgot, thanks.

The reserve kit you mention is already completed. Pic related.

My IFAK is intended for non-combat use, but is intended to treat gunshot wounds (hunting accidents).

Remove bandaids, tiny scissors, chapstick, and pills. Those are fine items to carry, but not in a trauma/GSW kit. Trauma kit should be immediately accessible and only include trauma items. Minor aid kit with pillz and such can go in your pack. It keeps everything clean and neat when time is a factor.

>>33058240
Oh, and North American Rescue Products makes a much small prepackaged set of gloves.

I spaced reading that was the reserve kit. Look at getting a big safety pin (good for gently popping blisters) and if not salt & sugar, a packet of Cera Sport for a fainting heat casualty wuss. Space blanket in the pack, if not in the medical kit itself.
>>
>>33058303
I just got a couple of space blankets today, I keep them in the pack.
I'll find some type of hydration poweder and throw it in there.
The scissors can lance blisters easily enough, as can my leatherman.

Oz = Pounds // Pounds = Bad days

You should take all your battle-rattle out for a hick one day at least a 5k if you're not dieing by the end of that then I guess you'll be fine.
>>
>>33058317
ACE wraps are a good, cheap replacement/supplement to triangle bandages as well. They are pretty versatile at applying pressure.

As for your gauze going into the trauma side, I'd stick with non-treated. It makes it usable for headwounds and it makes the wound simplier for EMS to work on. While it doesn't have as many issues as powder in terms of breaking off into the bloodstream, it still has issues with creating surface clots that don't stop the actual bleeding while obscuring the bleeding to medics (- this is what TCCC says anyway).

Civi world someone who knows how to usee an NPA properly or any other medical device that requires training to use probably carries one themselves. Or they are paramedics. Who again. Carry what they need. Someone with a buddy trained in how to use decompression needles also probably doesn't need 4chans help with an ifak, they could probably just ask their buddy.

Carry what you can use. Or what you know your buddy (assuming you have one) can use.

Yes it the UR one. It just mounts using velcro, there is 1 one section on the rear that goes under the pads, 2 sections by the air vent cut if you have velcro on the top of the helmet and then 2 velcro tabs on the front.
I dont think it would fit the XL, i had to stretch mine for "perfect fit". Try sending them an email and asking UR, it might be worth a shot.

How is a piece of protective gear not suitable for innawoods? A bump helmet is made to make sure when you trip and fall you don't crack your head open.

Safety glasses make sense for shooting. A bump helmet for standard innawoodsing is literally a choice for retards.

Unless you're doing high speed operation in or around military vehicles (which are constructed entirely of metal edges), doing something with ropes, or need a NOD base a helmet is just overkill.

depends on what belt and what ruck your using.
My run sits on my lower back, and i dont use the waist strap if i am rucking. if i do, i pull it tight at my waist line

if im running a low pro belt it doesnt interfere, but if i am running a big bulky one, sometimes they catch eachother

Then again id probably save my money and just buy the gen 3 but I mean spending 1k on gen 2+ is way smarter than spending 3-400 on a shit gen1

To each their own for safety trade offs. I don't think helmets are useful for normal innawoods even doing battle drills unless there is roping, mountaineering, or similar involved.

I too have seen the PPE beast up close. In my opinion too much safety gear becomes counter productive and you just have to make that call. I've done real deal stuff as well, so trying not to be too hypothetical here, just going off experiences.

It just seems so thin that it would cause all the damage and negative effects that the anti TQ Luddites rant about. I would personally rely on the opinions of medical professional bodies than my own non-experience with questionable new gear that's outside my comfortable wheelhouse. IMO.
