Would mounting something like an Insight WL1-AA in the 6 o' clock position be a good idea on a SBR? I rarely see weapons light mounted on the bottom rail and I don't know why.

Also, is 150 lumens enough for a home defense situation? The upper for this rifle will basically be a dedicated HD upper. I'm new to weapons light and was going to get a M600 scout for my innawoods rifle but have been told too many lumens for HD can be bad.

Just bought a Vortex Sparc AR and mounted it. I have no experience with red dots.

How sharp should it be? No matter the intensity, it is pretty blurry, even when focusing on the target. The blur does not go away when I look through a pinhole and my eyes were always great in tests and free of astigmatism, even though the last test has been couple of years ago.
When I look through a magnifier, the dot gets sharper, but is elongated in the y-axis. This elongation does rotate when rotating the rifle. When I look through the magnifier and put my eye left of the magnifier (seeing only half the picture, so I am peeking in from the side, I get a true and crisp dot.

Is it something with me, the dot or just something ablut my expectations that is not right?

Its likely you have a ever so slight astigmatism senpai. I have a SPARC II that does a similar thing when looking through either a Eokek g33 magnifier or a cheapshit PA magnifier. It really shouldn't inhibit shooting in any practical sense, but if it bothers you, something with a slight inherent magnification like a MRO, or any holographic sight will look clearer.

All 1x red dots will look a bit sharper when magnified. This is the same for my Aimpoint H1, my two MRO's, and my SPARC II. Holographic offer a clearer projected image, but at the host of battery life and sometimes durability.

Most people can overlook the slightly fuzzy dot for the benefits of extreme battery life, but if its an optic you're not planning on taking in to some warzone or operating around your house at 2am, then holographic sights are good to go.
