I've always used BCM just because they're a known quality and my local gun shop always has them in stock.

A 9" rail will cover a carbine gas system, 11" will cover mid. Beyond that depends on how you hold your rifle and how you want it to look.

If you're serious about training, I'd suggest your own target stand you can move around.

As for targets and practice, that NRA thing I linked you to and paper plates are good. Also Haleys YouTube stuff about cadence and learning the gun is good shit, and he has free printable targets.

Just got my first AR (Sig 516 Patrol) and some ammo. Was wondering what I should do to take care of it and break it in.
