They're both shit. Poles are horrible at making 5.45 magazines

I don't like steel magazines but mostly because I am a bit of a dingus

I keep catching the rear locking lug on the mag release frame whereas the poly mags are so thick I can't tilt them enough in the mag well for them to get caught up.

bakelite and polymer are cheap as dirt.

They run fine when you get them in it's just that they're the only mags where you've gotta be fuckin special with them or they won't lock/release properly

They metal ones have to be put in gently or the front locking lug will jam up, plus the spine is ribbed which is annoying
And the polymer ones have a shitty front lug as well, where now instead of being a pain to get in they'll hang up on the way out. I'll probably take a video of it so it makes sense. It's also fat as shit, to the point where it's fucking tight even though I'm pretty sure my SLR was cut just a touch wide, and you can feel it on insertion

If you shove the mag into the well at an angle and just try to rock it the metal tab under the lug will catch, that's what I'm talking about. No other mag will do that

Anyways if anyone follows my autism at all here's the gist of why Polish mags piss me off.

They have the locking lug on an elevated metal surface that will catch on the receiver if you don't insert it at a proper angle unlike literally every other mag

I'll take pics of both front tabs but the clearance on the front of this mag is fucking minimal along with it being incredibly fat, not sure how much variance in mold plays here though

Basically it'll get stuck to the receiver trying to push it forward cause it's so fucking fat, and you have to pull down, if this had audio you'd literally hear it when it happens

I don't know if it's the quality or angle or whatever but in the video, it basically looks like you put the mag in almost normally while the polish mag is way inserted in at an angle first. Again, may just be my perception is different than how it actually was. I can recreate your polish mag issue with one of my bakelite mags if I do the same thing you did.

Seems like a lot of the shops that had RPK mags are OOS currently, with the exception of APEX who has Romanian 40s for $28 and Legion has Russian steel 40s for $36 (or bakelite 40s for $140, lel)

Yes, unless you already have one in the gun that kit is going in.
It provides the energy required to cause the hammer to pivot up and strike the firing pin with enough force to ignite the primer, then causing the primer to ignite the powder. The rapidly burning powder creates a rapid expansion of gas that forces the bullet forward and out of the barrel.

Ok, I might be up shit creek but I thought I should see if I have any other options.

Long story short, I had to refuse a transfer of a rifle from K-var back in January 20th and told my FFL that K-var would be sending a return shipping label to send the rifle back. I told my FFL to let me know if they did not send the label or if anything else is needed.

Fast forward to today, I STILL had not received any word from K-var or a refund on my CC so I called them up and left a message. I get a voice mail while I was out at dinner telling me they never received my rifle back. Now I have to wait till Monday to hear back from both of them as to what their excuses are.

Assuming it's not just incompetence between my FFL and K-var, and UPS either lost my rifle or something else, Do I file a police report, contact the ATF, CC chargeback? Not only do I not have a rifle, but $1.1k is fucking missing from me and I am NOT happy

And ironically, my camera is dead... So while it charges ill give the run down and then post pics. Of the 7 mags I ordered(said 9 incorrectly in previous post) 5 rock in perfectly and have barely in wobble in my Wasr. However 2 of them are incredible tight fitting, hard to seat fully, and near impossible to eject, pushing on the mag release feels like the equivalent of bench pressing your max plus 100lbs. All the mags came refinished, unfortunately. I was hoping to get them all, un finished since i like the work look, and i new the thick paint would cause problems like this. As for disassembly, all were able to be with some difficulty varying from mag to mag, which I again attribute to the thick paint. One magazine in particular has me worried because the follower gets stuck about halfway down during disassembly, so I had to use my cleaning rod to push it the rest of the way out, and then about halfway up into the magazine body till it gets unstuck. As for looks, they look good enough. The refinish paint looks a little sloppy on some, and on one magazine, there is a spot where it is flaked off, and some rust underneath. A few have dents, though just cosmetic and they don't seem to interfere with the follower. Some of the springs look a bit rusty but not bad IMO. I'm using these as my training mags, so they don't, and wont look pretty for long, but I do wish they didn't have the listed problems. Oh well, enough babbling, pics incoming soon.
