With the price of WASR's nowadays you won't have to spend too much out of pocket for one of the new 107-11's that Arsenal is making.

So SLR104 confirmed best 74 on the american market right?

Mine is my favorite rifle
>>
>>32968449
Yeah thats what I was thinking, but I over think things a lot, and go back and forth forever, trying to decide about what I should do. I want an accurate AK, so i figured the Arsenal would fit that role better, but if the Arsenal isnt going to be much better than my WASR, then I don't want to spend the extra +/- $200 to get it.

I'd say so, for sure when it comes to new-in-box factory guns.
Some people value what veprs offer more, but I just find them to be overweight for no great reason. I mean, I love my veprs, but anything in an intermediate caliber is very overweight for what it is.

There is good and bad nitriding and it's not particularly new

Glock, HK, and SAN all use nitriding to great effect. My LWRC barrel is CHF and nitrided and it's really nice although I can't speak for how well it will hold up until I've actually put the rounds through it.

But there's just something about having a thick layer of chrome extending outward from the breech and muzzle. You just know you don't have to worry about rust when you see that. Chrome is chemically very stable and nitriding is still just a surface transformation of the steel.

Damn that makes me sad. Are they not long enough to thread all the way down? And does that mean you can't put a normal 74 brake on an RPK thread?
>>
>>32970092

The thread is different. AK-74 has the 24mm threaded sight base, just the barrel on the rpk-74 is threaded.
>>
>>32970141
Oh well fuck me, there goes that idea then
>>
>>32970091
That doesn't look refinished to me but it's hard to say. The best way to tell is to look it over and search for proof marks that are struck through the shellac. Any given Russian AKM stock should have at least one proof mark that was struck after the final application of the shellac. If it has been refinished then the proof mark will have been sanded down and finished over.

Any advantages of 5.5 over 4.5 pin? Other than stock angle
>>
>>32970477
5.5mm is slightly stronger in theory, assuming you don't get a "civilian" pin. The civi 5.5 pins have a section with a much smaller diameter to accommodate a FCG disconnect when the stock is folded (to comply with Russian gun control law the rifle may not fire when the stock is folded).

In practice neither is going to break under hard use. The 5.5 will allow for a more in-line stock angle and that's about it.

I'm not really going to thread your barrel. I did mine and it turned out OK but I'm not a pro.
My local gunsmith will thread barrels for around $50, so I'd suggest calling some in your area and find out their prices. And if a gunsmith does it properly you can be certain that the threads are concentric to the bore, which will prevent baffle strikes should you ever suppress it. Can't say the same about mine.

Best AKM varient is Oy Vy, made in Israel.

It's a fusion between Slav shit and Finnish improvements on Slav shit. And the NRA says A-OK, sub MOA.

I have an AK-74 I purchased last June and have only put around 650 rounds through it since them.

However, after handling it yesterday, I noticed the center support rivet can be ever so slightly wiggled within its hole. It can't get pushed through the receiver, just wiggled in a circular motion.

The manufacturer claims that the center support rivet, if too tight - would bend the receiver - thus this movement is normal.

Is this cause for alarm?

In case any of you guys were wondering what those "military contracts" cugir/romarm are fulfilling while we wait for WASRs and Dracos to come in it would appear quite a few of those military contracts are going to Turkish and NATO backed rebel groups. The video is full of brand new Romanian built AKMs with the same blonde furniture as Dracos and same dark shiny black pistol grips. Kinda neat since usually these rifles in these videos, especially what rebels are using, are old as fuck. Also note all the M240 and M249 SAWs in use. I mean I could be wrong though but the rifles really seem to stand out from the traditional mix of old donky dick md.63, chink type 56, etc...

Definitive Arms out of Florida is a reputable builder. No idea how expensive they are but a phone call will solve that.
Also, with any reputable builder be prepared to get in line and wait probably months. Most builders that I called had at least a 2 month backlog.
Also shipping your gun to a builder is easy. Go to a UPS hub (not one of those stores in the mall) and ship it. Since I still had the box my gun came in it only cost me $12 to ship my gun across country.

Also, could you grab an O-scope and measure the frequency of the tuning fork effect with regards to different bullet weight/speed and create a graph of those frequencies in relation to the bullet weight?

And, could you acquire a light meter and test how much light is emitted by the muzzle with, and without the flash hider, again with different bullet weights and possibly have the powder of those bullets analyzed for their chemical composition?

Last but certainly not least, please place the flash hider into your rectum and rate the comfort of it in relation to other flash hiders inserted into your rectum, both dry and with lube, and list as many different lubes as you can, and chart the results?

I see. How'd you get out? I've never gotten stuck in a truck or when I didn't have somebody else with a tow rope.

It was a bitch, luckily i carry a shovel and crobar. We dug the wheels out, placed some rocks, and added branches in front to make a pathway. It took about a hour, wasnt really enjoyable, but im happy to finally put some knowledge into practice. In the end i gained some experience so all the better.
>need winch, would have got unstuck in 10mins.
>>
>>32980631
Just carry a long ratchet strap. It's a Toyota so you should be able to lock the differential in 4WD. Attach one end of the strap to a tree and run the other under the tire and use the tire to wind it up. Ghetto winch if you don't want to get a real winch.

Ya that was my next step but i did not want to walk back to the other vehicle, it was getting dark . Should have just brought a dam come along(manual rachet winch). Oh well i made it out thats the goal right? Lol
I made them walk on the way out so i could go at a appropriate speed on the way out.

about to go outside and pick up fallen branches from under my maple trees (those bastards shed branches like a cat sheds fur) and pile them up in the bed of my truck. then tomorrow I'm going to celebrate valentines day by going up to the hunting camp, throwing the branches in the kindling pile, and shoot some guns for a few hours. might split some firewood too.

I thought it was for an svd.
Ugly as hell, but I guess it'd be a neat thing to have in the collection. God knows I'm not spending what it takes to get an svd anyway. There's a lot better ways to spend those those dollars on gun stuff.
>>32981994
Same, I'd like to buy two more mags and fill my psl pouch, even though my 3 is plenty for my shooting needs anyway.

So I got the refinished romy stock from Apex, but I was wondering, does it look like they coated it with the poly, or is it a simple finish?

Should I add anything or leave it alone?

I've drove through worse mud in my AWD RAV4 than most of the lifted dodge and chevy trucks I see around town. Gonna hit 100,000 miles this month without a single problem to date. You'll come around one day.
