A 1980's AK-74, which is the look you're imitating with the wood and bakelite PG, will have a "lazy" ribbed cover.

One-piece zig-zag or half-moon would be fine. Your AK isn't ever going to be an "accurate" clone without some major parts refitting to the point where you basically will have a completely different rifle, so as long as it's a stepped-collar it'll look fine.
