Better stock, grip, trigger guard, and back up sights. A good mid length nitrided barrel. More reliable mags. A quad rail is durable but heavy as hell compared to newer rails. Modern optics, lights, etc. A gas redirecting changing handle is also very nice, you won't always be shooting with eye pro on.

I'm not saying you'll have a rifle that's 200% more lethal or anything. Just small improvements that make for a more reliable and pleasurable shooting experience. You as a civilian have the option to make an AR that's better than what the military uses, might as well take every advantage you can get.

the only thing they got right with that design, was interchangable backstraps, milling out the picatinny rail instead of the USP proprietary one, and ambi slide release. But I've even heard that the Ambi is known to malfunction and randomly lock the slide back when wearing gloves in a high grip.

I've used various versions in the TLR for seven or so years on handguns.
I ran one for about two years at the 12oclock on a rifle.
No issues. They were exposed to the elements on a regular basis. The strobe thing is kind of a gimmick, but I never activated it on accident.
I've run the comparable surefire models, though not as many (I think I have six TLRs now) and not as long. They're fine too.
Switching is personal; some folks prefer the uboat switchology, some folks prefer the TLR. For the cost savings (about $100?) I think they're worth a shot.

No problem. The uboat is more aesthetic to most folks, I get that.
I get the TLRs for free, so that's why I started using them, way back with 120 blazing lumens. But after using them for so long, and not having an issue, I'm a fan.

Used LMT MWS's can be had for like $2400 are great.
