Which trip is bound to a wheelchair?
so I have a surefire g2x tactical. I had in a vtac offset mount, but I either had to bring my hand back further or put my light head right in the line of my muzzle break chambers (lantac dragon) leading to some carbon build up on the lens
1. how do I clean my lens properly?
2. should I just buy an inline mount and tape switch, or get a surefire mini, inline mount and tape switch? what will the mini do that my g2x can't?

What Psi said, toothpaste is a good start for getting some mild carbon buildup off without worrying about digging into the lens.
Have you tried putting a thin layer of chapstick on the lens before hitting the range? Tends to catch most of the carbon and wipe right off.

>>32923824
If you're worried about digging into the lens then you should know toothpaste is an abrasive. I don't know what material or coating surefire uses on the lenses but toothpaste is designed to abrase, which is probably why it works for that purpose. Same deal with peanut butter. Also why both of them can be used to remove sticker goo and as a ghetto polishing compound.

>>32923829
>using gunstruction
>>32923849
That's the point, but it's a very mild abrasive, hence why it tends to get rid of carbon without scratching the relatively tough surefire lenses to shit.

I want to set up my light like garand thumb, inline, flush with rail but low pro enough that if I was shooting off hand I could grab over the light, offset doesn't let me do that. this should also get less carbon on my lens.
>>32923883

I like the M952V but it's nowhere near as bright as my M600.

>>32924929

>>32924929
You sound very upset. Show us your super cool black anodized AR
>>32924883
Here bro-ham, take this. May it aid you in your journey to /arg/ Valhalla.
All jokes aside, if you zero'd with the 55gr and ran a 75 gr through it, it is reasonable to assume that there will be a shift in the point of impact between these two. Your 1:7 twist is probably stabilizing the 75gr better than the 55gr, accounting for the shift.
As far as the theoretical spalling, there's no way to account for the magnitude of variables that could cause the bark to fly off in that direction and tear through the back side of the target. I will say that it is a possibility.... Which would also explain why the jagged hole appears to burst from the backside of the target and thru to the front.
If it were me? I'd stick to using the 75gr HP. What brand are they? I thought Tula and Wolf HPs were 72gr not 75gr.
>>32924937

sheeyit thanks, that's a handy infographic. As for zeroing, I have a cheapo ncstar rear sight and a fixed front post, and that setup really on seems to be able to approximate zero. even with a bipod and shooting on my stomach there isn't a ton of consistency. granted, I normally put 40gr 22lr through it with a drop in bolt because it's quieter, but as I type this I kind of realize how dumb it is to do that
anyway, I'll stick to 75gr HP (not sure what that is, high pressure?). This is the box my ammo came in.

A1 wooden handguards are bad enough but now you are going to try and created a circular wooden handguard. That will look like shit. Then the lower you posted looks terrible with the Aero lower.
All attempts to make wooden furniture ARs just come off as fuddy stupidity and then you choose the A2 the worst version as icing on the cake.
>>32925058
I have yet to hear a single reason for /arg/'s hatred of wooden AR furniture. I can only assume that it's just the normal shitposting.
First build. Don't think it turned out too bad. Pic is potato as I don't have a good camera.
I do have an issue with the build though.
I keep on having light primer strikes on this build. The trigger is milspec (ALG-QMS lying around from a past gun, installed correctly) so hammer energy shouldn't be the issue. Ammo (M193) is good and ran across 2 other guns without issue. The bolt is a little tight in the carrier, but translates smoothly. Gas system runs .223 just fine so it shouldn't be under gassed. Does anyone have an idea as to what could be causing this? Could it just be the parts need to wear in? (about 150rnds through it) Short firing pin?
>>32925079
>Circular handguards
That's a funny way to spell triangular handguards. And I chose the A2 because I couldn't find an A1 length wooden stock.

The hammer pin does this by having a notch directly in the middle where a spring loaded detent inside the hammer sits

>>32925360
Both sides should be like pic related.
Take your BCG out of the rifle, disassemble it real quick, and inspect the gas rings. Make sure that the splits in each ring are NOT aligned with each other, and that the rings are not bent. Then start blaming the ammo. I'm serious about the ammo part.
What brand of ammo were you shooting?

Anon sold stuff to Liz. 220 total dollars. Paypal charges a fee. He sent 220 over but didn't factor everything in. Seller gets 213. Seller reminds Liz of the fee, and wants the other 7 bucks. Liz sends only 7, with the extra for the fee, so the seller is shorted again.
Seller then sells item to someone who can follow simple instructions.
>>32925439
Why? Just curious.
>>32925439
55gr in a 1:9 retains its spiral over a longer distance before losing rotation to pitch/yaw, due to the higher number of spins in the spiral flight path. I mean, this is just what I read. I don't know if it's true or not.
Also I think when people say "over-stabilization" that they are actually referring to something else. I mean geeze there literally is no such thing as "over stabilized," hopefully they just don't have a great vocabulary and really mean to say something like "creates diminishing return due to excessive rotational forces for the mass." Again, just hypothesizing.
>>32925406
That was OrangeCat and Liz. And it was more over the hoops he had to jump through to sell an item to Liz(Liz was first in line for it)when he had other buyers ready.
>>32925518
And then usps lost the damn thing anyway.
So everyone lost, but Liz got cucked the hardest.
>>32925518
He also thought it'd be funny to pay Orange 219.99 instead of 220 after all the other BS had already happened, prompting OC to just sell it to Mek or whoever.
Guys, I kinda really want to build a 9mm pistol, gut my current pistol and put my KAK blade on the 9mm lower, and save my 10.5" upper for an SBR later.

Freedom Munitions (I know...). First time out of 1000rnds that this has happened. The trigger group came out of a previous rifle that fired the same lot of ammo and didn't have any issues. I'm inclined to believe that it isn't the ammo.
>>32925446
What you're talking about is short stroking and undergassing, he's talking about light primer strikes or potentially dud primers, these have nothing to do with each other.
>>32925545
It proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Liz is a complete and utter moron, and that both one should sell to him.

Actually no, I wanted to find a better option than Condor pouches for poorfags in /gq/. I bought a few pouches and liked them. Found the PC on sale for $70.00 a thought, eh what the hell. Every time I got something I was more and more impressed with the quality. Duraflex buckles, YKK zippers, Cordura, Hypalon material, the thread is the same mil-spec thread as my other shit with proper spacing and tension.
If you are broke and need gear and are considering anything Condor, which I loathe, get Flyye instead.

s-so here's a slightly older pic of my setup. since that pic I've ordered a new lower and I'm gonna make sure to mill it out when I'm not sleep deprived and use one of those table grip things to hold it
the problem with the ncstar rear sight is that the bit that adjusts to go up and down isn't well aligned with the rest of the sight, plus it can shift left and right independent of the left/right adjuster wheel thing. like I said, it's good for getting and idea of where the bullet goes bit it's not precise or accurate. not to mention without my glasses both sights are way out of focus and with them on it focuses on the rear sight. I've been thinking about replacing it with a scope or a red dot just to save my eyes the strain

I pretty much built mine.
That one in the link isn't accurate. Only around 50 or so of the very first carbines (colt 607s) had the triangular forearm stock and would have been paired with the special stock you see on mine.
Put a round forearm stock on it and it would be an accurate XM177.

Got my complete upper and LPK in the mail today for my first AR build.
I get the trigger installed, get the magazine catch installed, move on to the front takedown pin, and the fucking detent goes flying across the room down a fucking blackhole.
Fucking fuckity fuck.
Already ordered a replacement part from Numrich, now just to wait for them to come in the mail and do this whole fucking thing all over again.
So, what's the preferred method of installing the front takedown pin without the spring sprouting wings and flying away?
Pic extremely related
>>32927183
I lucked out and had a guy doing work on my lower offer to build one for me.
Mine isn't exactly like an original, the details on the butt plate are slightly different, but it works for me.
Just visit the retro forum on AR15.com. Every once in a while someone on there makes a batch of 607 stocks.
