Hey that's what I had to do, I went from making about a grand a week to getting laid off and being an unemployed loser for over a year and I had so sell over a dozen guns in my then 30+ gun collection. Hey guys, I bought one of those WBP new-production Polish AKM stock sets, the handguard is identical to the Polish surplus ones but the stock set has some pretty rough geometry, also due to the cuts being so fucking up on tang/part that goes into the receiver, when I was fitting it I fucked up and took too much material off of a few areas, so now it sits super loose in the rifle and is only tight when screwed down (which will lead to problems later on. Anyone interested in pic though?

Yeah it's pretty cool, super light and handy and feels great. Haven't shot it yet and will hopefully this weekend (probably only 25 yards at a local range because I don't want to drive out innamountains) so we'll see how it runs. My only complaint was that one of the heat shields in the handguards was bent when it came in and was contacting the barrel and preventing the handguards from mounting properly but it was an easy fix to just remove them and bend the heat shield back into shape. The bent heat shield scratched some finish off of the barrel under then handguards but literally who cares because 1) it's just finish and 2) it's under the handguards anyway. Didn't bother me at all but I know some people get really pissy about that kind of stuff

All in all even without shooting it yet I love it and it's already a favorite, which is weird saying about an AR as I normally find tacticool ARs kinda boring but this one fills a nice spot between being modern and handy enough but also being historically interesting

Here is the rundown:

First and foremost, all of the furniture in the wooden kits comes from Boyds... not mentioned on PSA's site at all. Wouldn't have bothered if I knew that. The finish is pretty slick and feels kind of cheap.

Stock has pre-drilled holes for mounting, but the holes are so fucking big that the screws practically fell in, so it's wobbly as shit once "mounted".

Butt-plate is not as advertised on their product page. The one on their page is ribbed, while the one I got is smooth with a scratched to hell finish. I really wouldn't mind this if the thing fit on the stock. It's a bit undersized and not deep enough to fully mount, leaving a large gap between the lip of the stock and edge of the plate...

Not that any of that matters anyway, as they also pre-drilled the holes for the butt-plate screws, and they are WAY off center. The screws would never be flush

Oh, by the way, my kit is missing the butt-plate screws and upper hand guard retention spring, so I can't finish the build anyway.

The mechanical components work... that's the only good thing I have to say about the kit I guess.

So I finally got around to starting my plum restoration project. It worked really well on my best looking plum, it got rid of a lot of the dark spots and brought back the shine in really dry, scuffed areas. Currently letting the rest of them sit in their oil for a bit, this is their first steel wool/oil session. Hoping to do at least two more tonight to make them look really good

A local shop used to stock it for about $0.23 a round which was only $0.02 more per round than I could find online and I would buy it all the time from them, but now the only shops that stock it want like $0.45 a round which I just am not going to do. 7n6 is very mildly corrosive as far as milsurp goes. Definitely clean everything after shooting but your rifle isn't going to rust up on the way back from the range

Ehh it depends, 7n6 still performs the best in soft targets but for the money you can just get non corrosive stuff and not deal with having to give your rifle a bath. You're going to be punching holes in paper so performance on soft targets doesn't matter. IMO after the 7n6 ban it isn't worth buying it except for like collecting purposes or to stash a sealed tin away (which would have a questionable lifespan as they're already all like 30 year old tins)

No nothing totally absurd. I think my first was $150. Just stupid for me to have done that when it was the current issue brake on Russia's service rifle by the hundreds of thousands and was guaranteed to become more common eventually. My second one I got in an "AK74M parts kit" (I knew it wasn't) which was really a mashup of random parts but had the 74M brake and a full military 5.5mm folding set. Plus some random polish parts.

Oh and a Tula 1986 AKSU trigger guard. I have no idea how it ended up in that "kit". But there's no doubt that's what it was, they're very distinctive. I ended up selling it to a guy who had an AKSU kit with an improper trigger guard. Made his day, because there was a very slim chance he was going to find what he was looking for, but I just happened to have one. Gave him a good price too. That was a few years ago.
