I had to, someone made a new thread without pastebins or title. I couldn't let it stand
>>
>>32846303

Was just wondering on the pastebin:

How come we have aspirin suggested as a content of the IFAK? I mean an IFAK is a kit used to fix and stabilize acute trauma (for laymen: gunshot and shrapnel wounds), and as such, ASA is sort of a questionable medicine to use with an IFAK: using things that actually promote bleeding in a kit that is basically a barebones "how to stop someone from bleeding to death" set sounds kinda, counter-intuitive.

So how come? Considering how you people still have much better credentials than I do, I am going to assume I am in the wrong here, but just missing how.

As a side note; I actually don't know what to slap in as painkillers. I'd just say the usual, meaning a fentanyl lollipop, or morphine if not available - but neither one is exactly an over-the-counter drug available to civvies. And I cannot say I know of a rapid and potent enough painkiller that is not an opioid that is available to civilians, that would still work to help out cases like multiple invasive trauma combined with burns, and other war wounds.

I see the medical supplies, I was wondering if there was a medical guide. I get the basics of stopping bleeding but I just dont want to get a med bag when I would really know how to use it when the time comes
>>
>>32846429
Actually a barebones kit would be a "blowout kit" or "bleeder kit", an individual first aid kit is a bit more comprehensive, at least in my book. Aspirin is just a wonderful thing to have on hand. It's not suggested in a blowout kit for sure, but if you've got space, might as well take a few, pain reduces combat effectiveness. (And we can't get opioids over the counter)

>>32846715
If I've got time I'll add little writeups on how to use some of the stuff.

>>
>>32846847
Also this, you're not going to remember my pastebin if you get gatted. And you're not even carrying a med bag, most of the ifak is bleeding control shit(all of it is if you're using a barebones blowout kit.)

Well, I was taught that an IFAK is a simple medical kit issued to every grunt, containing the basics needed to stabilize a patient, so he won't die before he can be treated properly post-battle. Just stuff that can be applied even in the face of danger, swiftly. Meaning the collection I've mentioned before - tourniquet(s), pressure bandages, hemostats, chest seals, and airways, along with a chest puncturing needle. Basic "how to keep this guy alive a bit longer" - stuff. Besides, it is not like we can fit too much in an IFAK, picture related. Squad medics (combat life savers) and platoon medics then have more advanced and extensive kits - that naturally also take a fair lot more space.

Or is this just because my viewpoint is one of fighting with an organized group - be it conventional or guerilla warfare - where everyone carries an IFAK for self-aid, not where only medics carry medical supplies.

>>32846847
>>32846927
These. Without practical training - you're not going to remember what you need to do when it's time to do it.

Alright, so Im bored and have been wanting to get some sort of commo for offroading, camping, LARPing and just general innawoods. Especially since Im planning a kayaking trip sometime in the next year in swampy areas.

All that I have read or gleaned points me to the UV5R by Baofeng. Im ordering off of Amazon and would appreciate any pointers, things to get, pouches that would work for it, etc.

Things Im definitely not sure on:
>FCC legality, maybe someone here could dumb it down crayon style for me.
>USB programming (Im ordering the cable)
>Whether or not I should get the V2 or the more expensive newer version.
>Any sort of innawoods experience or tips, particularly anything relating to innaswamp.

Dont't forget toilet paper. Make sure you have enough water and/or knowledge of water sources.

Hey guys. I've been thinking about purchasing an HPG Umlindi with one of their pockets and a belt for flexibility, but should I just get a Mystery Ranch 3DAP instead?

I've never tried on either with a load, as no one nearby has 'em.

I chose these two due to a lot of people liking the suspension, and the aesthetics to be honest. I'm really looking for a bag flexible enough to use it mostly everyday while being able to carry enough basics, such as food, water, some ammo, and a few misc. for 2-3 days, w/o sleep system. I'm not really looking to go innawoods with either. Will I run and gun with this thing to train? Very likely, but I'm no LEO/MIL operator. IFAK will come once I can afford a TCCC class.

I take it back, I might do an overnight hike with either, but not more than a day or two. Both will mostly be used in an urban/suburban environment since I travel a lot for work. Money for either isn't much of a concern, just don't want to spend more than $350, definitely not over $400.

Painted Howard Leights today for real. Tried out a 'snake' skin pattern. Didn't really work too well, I think the matte green i used was lighter than I excepted. It more or less looks tan, with a light hint of green on it. Actually I like it. If I want to try again Ill re-paint it. No biggie.

Ordered the tyrtactical gunfighter, unfortunately im on back order, so I probably wont get it for another 60 days. Im not going to order the other stuff for my belt until it gets here, so I can fit stuff on and if I dont like it, be able to send stuff back.

Next two purchases, are a pair of pants, and a soft shell non tacticool jacket. After that is 3 +3 Baseplates for my G43. Probably do that this week.

I recommend the Beyond combat shirt if you can get it. The sleeves and shoulders are 50/50 nyco like everyone else but the body is Polartec PowerDry which I like a lot. No idea how it compares in terms of no-melt/no-drip though. It's like ~60% modacrylic and 30% rayon or something.

As for the regular Crye combat shirts the body material comes from drifire, and the Patagonias supposedly used to use XGO (no idea who now that they went to the MC printed material).

>I dont speak french, its difficult for me ok?
Oh don't worry, I really don't care. I just don't want someone tricking you into buying a T4S1 thinking it's a T3. Or buying a T.O.E thinking it's official issued gear.

For the most part, they're the same. Removal of the pectoral pockets is (IMHO) a good thing, because they make wearing PCs uncomfortable.
>>
>>32852021
Thats what I figure. I don't like pectoral pockets. I just know that the other versions are closer if not a british combat smock clone and this is a more native to france cut.

The leatherman is my everyday multitool. I use the gerber with my rig because it has a few things that are real good for working on the AR and because it secures better in the pistol mag pouch.

Quite honestly it's hard to fuck up making a multitool assuming you are using quality components. Only shit ones I've ever seen/used have been foreign made, no-name chicom tier shit from the hardware store (or gunshow counter).

No foreseeable weekend plans.

Snowshoeing with the girlfriend IF it snows in the mountains, but that looks unlikely for the next two weeks.

Might try some long range shooting if it's not windy as fuck in the grasslands area. We shot last weekend and it sucked. 20+mph 90° winds. The shooting in general was fun though and it's nice to shoot on a range with steel setup for you already. I wouldn't mind the crosswind if it wasn't also uncomfortably cold laying on the ground behind a 15 pound rifle.

So yeah, just let me know what you end up doing and I should be free.

Fix it yourself. Sewing isnt some sage level skill, its pretty retard easy to fix a tear or a button.

>people who dont fix their own shit
>>
>>32855091
you cant fix fabric that is just worn thin.
>>
>>32855061
Yeah my original plan was K-SOG but we all know how that went. And honestly I think I'm just going to get the combat shirt since the BDU trousers I got were like brand new. I'll probably just get them tailored so they aren't so baggy. But the A9 trousers do look pretty tempting
>>
>>32855124
Cut it and patch it, it adds character and woodland fabric isnt hard to find.
>>
>>32855156
it doesnt work like that with a combat shirt
>>
>>32855061
the beyonds are really expensive from their site. if you lurk on ebay you can find the MC shirts for around $110 right now. if you're set on woodland good luck.
>>
>>32855199
it's really not that expensive if they are good quality.
>>32855148
there is nothing wrong with normal woodland bdu pants. I might get some of these beyond ones to try internal kneepads.

>50/50 nyco patch on a soft t-shirt body

>>32855061

>>32855213
I own multiple pieces of beyond clothing, including their PCU L5 jacket, 2 pairs of woodland combat pants, a woodland blouse, and a MC combat shirt. While they are well-made, $180 for a combat shirt is pretty expensive unless you're buying it specifically for fetish reasons. for reference it's not too hard to find new crye tops for $110 on ebay.

https://kommandostore.com/battledamaged-mtp-by-the-3-pound-parcel/

Plenty of places you can buy damaged combat shirts in less desirable patterns. Alternatively buy the size xxxxxs or xxxxxxxxxxl that always end up on sale because those people dont exist.
>>
>>32855355
Pretty much equal. The cut of the combat shirt is more like that of the patagonia shirt GT likes, with the shorter collar unlike the awkwardly tall crye collar. The body fits athletically although on my older gen shirt the sleeves are long for the size.

Overall the shirt feels kind of like a copy of the early patagonia shirts, with a similar shaped pocket flap, polartec body material, the way the shirt body is constructed, and velcro+button closures on the pockets.
