What do you actually use your gear for edition

I wear my pistol belt around on my land. The multi tool comes in handy a lot, and the dump pouch is great for collecting eggs or vegetables.

The only gear I own are gorkas (1 fleece and 1 regular) so they're pretty much innawoods/winter use. Wearing fatigues in an urban setting seems silly.
>>
For classes and to hold together my failing relationship.

Is laser cut the middle ground of slick and molle? Or is it just fancy looking molle?

http://www.startribune.com/scarsella-guilty-of-assault-riot-in-2015-protest-shooting/412476503/

>Under blistering cross-examination by Assistant Hennepin County Attorney Judith Hawley, Scarsella had little defense for the numerous racist texts he sent out in the year before the shooting. In one he suggested putting a confederate flag on a gun handle to “tempt a chimp to chimp out, that way you can shoot him.”

>In another, he suggested a friend go with him to target practice “for when we have to shoot black guys.”

>On the day of the shooting, he texted his girlfriend that “smelly brown people” should “just gas themselves, honestly.”
>>
>>32860538
Is it worth adding a gas mask to my gear?

Tear gas is not actually a gas, it's particulate. You'd much better off with a good respirator mask and goggles. It'll be cheaper and filters more available on the civilian market.

Not a whole lot. Chemlights vs normal industrial snaplights might last a little longer but that's about it.

Military chemlights will use a little more fluorophor than regular comparable size snaplights, and cost a lot more.

Biggest difference is I have not seen many regular IR snaplights but many IR chemlights.

It's a durable cheap knife. The company has a god tier warranty. It's the right size and it comes with a good sheath. I don't agree that its not ergonomic, it also wouldn't matter if it wasn't its a cutting tool not boots.

Hunting and transporting fishing gear to/from hard to reach fishing spots. Tactical backpack serves triple duty as a hiking backpack and a shooting rest.

On that note, does anyone know of a tripod adaptor that works well as a rifle rest that isn't the $500 Hog Saddle? A couple months ago on an antelope hunt I realized I needed something taller than a bipod but more stable than shooting sticks since it was a late season hunt and the antelope were herded up and spooky. Shots were gonna be long (400yd+) but I was in sage hills and my 9-13" tripod wasn't getting me over them.

I've been using a ghetto-rigged rifle saddle on my spotting scope tripod for years blowing up prairie dogs and 'yotes and never thought to take it after big game for some reason. My tripod's certainly light enough but I wasn't willing to carry a 2lb sandbag for it.

>>
>>32866362
It's because you are an engineer.

>>
>>32866482

what are you?
>>
>>32866474
>blindly align some random lines
Look at where you're going, you use simple angles so you can backtrace easy. Roughly 90 degree turns when inna woods are a lot easier to work with mentally that a fuck ton of smaller incremental rotations. Keep them aligned so again it's easier to keep track of.

Land nav isn't a distance optimization tool.

Or maybe I'm just not getting what you're saying.

>>32866482

you're not getting what im saying. my point is that the way land-nav is taught creates technicians who mostly have no idea what the fuck they're actually doing, they just have a process beat into them that mostly gives good results. It's like when I talk to machinists trying to get something done and they randomly ignore the manuf. spec sheets and pull dimensions out of their ass because someone taught them a "rule of thumb" and now they can't do anything else.

>>32866517
>We need to euthanize engineers. All my engineering classmates are retarded.
ok m8
>>
>>32866533
So your problem is more in philosophy of it than application.

Cool. Then learn it on your own and then you'll know the fundamental basics and not just "the rule of thumb" even though, more than likely you'll end up doing the exact same thing as the monkey taught the plug and chug rules. Not that hard if you have a good intuition. Also are you sure you're an engineer? You hate plug and chug, are you sure you're not more a physics/math major?
>>
>>32866533
It's not fukcing hard. Barely high school graduates in boot can do it better than you. You go into something thinking you're so smart, it turns out to be hard because your mind is geared to perfection and design, not creation and abstract processes. Then yu get mad and blame the subject, throw it away, and go back to your classes. Typical.
>>
>>32862569
Need sauce on the armor
>>
>>32866569
i dunno what engineering is like at other schools but there's not much plug and chug over here.

and i've also had plenty of shit experiences with "rules of thumb". Like having to ruin 3 capsule heaters pulling them loose and take a $500 part back to the machine shop cause mechanically retarded physics majors gave nominal dimensions to a machinist, who ignored the spec sheet in favor of his stupid "rule of thumb" and milled undersize holes.

>>32866610
>It's not fukcing hard.
it's not like everyone in the military is a fucking land-nav stud. there's a reason its in a bunch of army sof selection courses, it's because most people are shit at it.

I like the 90* opening option so you don't accidentally all your shit on the ground.

I use a velcro-back MOLLE attachment and heavy-duty rubber bands for tear-away capability on a battle belt, but it comes with standard MOLLE backing and malice clips, which would also work as belt loops.

Easily holds 2 TQ's, an NPA+lube, quikclot gauze, gloves, kerlex, 2 chest seals, and a couple single-dose immodium packets. I keep a pair of shears wedged between the pouch and the velcro plate and have never had it fall off, but they would probably fit inside as well if you feel you need shears.

An S carabiner?
>>
>>32868555
Grimlock carabiners, but if I'm you I just use a normal carabiner. That way it supplies two roles hasty rappelling and carrying your shit. But that depends if your belt is even set up to handle your weight and what not.. just do whatever you want anon

I got these pouches for my 5.11 RUSH 12. My only issue is they look a little too big for the size of the pack. I'm considering returning them for a slightly smaller pouch which is also zip up rather than buckle. I'd also order it in multicam.
Thoughts?

But why? I just roll up my gloves and shove them in my pockets and shift my muffs on my head.

If I shoot my elbows back, they hit the pouches, which kind of irks me for a small day pack. I kind of do want a lower profile pouch for the sides. Pic related is what I'm going to swap them for

I know where ya coming from but wont these ones still do the same thing with your arms?
>>
>>32868713
Yeah, but it won't be quite as bad.
I could just re-order the current pouches in multicam.
Tbh I've seen and held the alternative pouches, they'll achieve nearly the same functional purpose (carry a 32oz nalgene).

Not 100% sure. It has to be from the civilian lineup, the blue-ish green colors on the inside match my black Gamma LT hoody perfectly. But the Gamma LT doesn't have waterproofed zips and the pockets are set lower.

Any good dive knives that are also good combat knives? Looking to kill two birds with one stone here.
>>
>>32869713
No and go to the knife general. Though I've found if I just oil my knife and treat it right it goes in the water just fine. Im not really an expert on this subject nor do I like to operate inna frog conditions. My glock knife has had plenty of underwater use and plenty of rust removed and still trucks on wherever it may be so take that as you will?

Like the 1 quart ones that are meant for alice gear?

It would fit, terribly. It won't close.

>>
>>32870653
$26? Jeez. I'll just buy a regular canteen then.
>>
>>32870785

Still plugging along, the actual final product is being manufactured now. Right before I moved over a year ago they got big rolls of rhodie fabric but there was something minuscule wrong with it so they couldn't use it. It was something like one small "leaf" was in the back of the pattern when it should have been in the front and this leaf was repeated once every 4 feet. This was enough for them to demand a reprint, blew me away they were that dedicated to perfection but I get it.
