My budget is pretty low. I'm a student and gonna use my tax return on this.
This lower is my first AR and second ever gun. I'll probably go all in later if I do enjoy competiting.
But for now I'm looking for something not too expensive/just for 3gun but will get my foot in the door and won't bite me in the ass if I decide to upgrade.
So assume I don't know anything. For instance I have no idea what ammo I'm gonna be shooting.

Didn't come with the QD mount if I were to order it direct from Sig Sauer or their Amazon retailer, but then again I did save $60 and it did accidentally ship with 15 free PMAG's.

MUCH better than the Vortex SPARC it replaced, the reticle combo is leaps and bounds better, and the glass color is imo better for low light conditions. So Vortex tier, if not slightly better.

I'll be posting mine groups i shot yesterday with little time with barrel that underwent full cleaning then oiled. No cooldown time.

First group so bad due to oiled bore and my barrel shot the best after some fouling.

Second group oil free and start fouling and shrinked

Third group more fouling group improved despite warm/hot bbl.

Didnt risk grinding it to bone i stopped early before i ran out of time. If i had shot fourth and fifth group those would had be submoa guaranteed.

60yds prone, no bag, carbine length sight radius ironies, no optic. Didnt remember any wind no wind im sure.

The 5.56/.223REM is stupid accurate with an extremely flat trajectory.
But, on an AR there will be almost exactly 2.5" of travel from center of bore up to the cross-hair's on a traditional set up. It creates an illusion.

I chose to zero at 50yrd because it's flattest flight pattern(on paper), since I have angle sights I don't have to worry about using the scope for close engagement,

Wasn't a bad shooting day. I've bought two cases of IMI in 55gr and 62gr in the past, and tried a few boxes of IMI 77gr about a year ago and have not been real happy about any of it.

The 55gr and 62gr was cheap enough that I won't bitch too much, you don't buy that stuff expecting great performing ammo, but the 77gr was lousy. I put about 200 rds of it through that mk12 upper and the velocities were low and groups sloppy compared to CBC and Black Hills 77gr OTM shot the very same sitting. I didn't expect it to match the Black Hills in velocity or performance, but where CBC (which I paid 60c/rd for) was grouping at 0.5-1 MOA off a bench rest, the IMI 77gr OTM was 1.5-2.0 MOA off the same bench and under the same conditions.

From a function and general use standpoint absolutely. The downside is they are a massive trap for wasting money on worthless shit for newguns. They'll spend $1000 on the most grotesque and shit-tier accessories they can find.

If they can stick to a decent AR and have some guidance on good accessories when/if needed, there's not many rifles more friendly to noguns out there.

A recce is usually a 16" with a variable powered optic and collapsable stock. The trigger upgrade may be nice to make more use out of the higher magnification for more precise shooting, but it and the BCG aren't going to effect the recce-ness of your rifle

Just sighted in my first basic bitch Palmetto State AR today. There are no long ranges in my area so I had to sight it in at 22(ish) yards which is the max range there. I sighted it in so the bullets were 1.2-1.3 inches below Point of aim so according to some ballistics calculations it should be about right at 50 yards. When I do get a chance to hit up a rifle range I'll hopefully only need minor adjustments. I should be within one click of the front sight to a perfect 50 yard zero.

Anyway the thing shoots like a fucking dream. I'm a garbage marksman so it was enteratining to see my bullets actually going to where I point them. The trigger on this thing is smooth as fuck, like a 19111 and it seems to recoil even less than my old bolt gun in .223. I've never owned something this accurate before. It was like shotting a 10/22 except louder and more fun. I guess this i why people love ARs so much.
