I'm serious bro, not trying to troll in any way or form. I'm very frugal, and have saved quite a bit of money that I've been waiting to use. I figure if I'm going to buy something that is important and will get a lot of use, I might as well use all my money and get something that is the best of the best.

If you could design the perfect rifle for 10k, what parts would u use?

Start with hodge defense system inc. Then adding SCHMIDT&bender scope to it. Then carbon fiber wrapped barrel from pri/christsen arm. Buy some fancy suppressor, nvg, thermal, peq. Thats like 10k or more.

Anything other than HDSI you are fucking up and pleb.
>>
>>32813169
Surplus stores.

I've got a fuck load of colt mags and
"LE/MIL ONLY SUPER SEKRET CLUB" mags for like $4 each.
>>
>>32813359
if you want to spend that much you should educate yourself so you can form your own opinion
>>
>>32813359
If you are so frugal, then why would you blow $10K on a single rifle? You should understand there is a point of diminishing returns. For example, if I bought a $500 AR, but decided to spend an extra $500 and get a $1000 AR I would have gained a substantial amount of value for just that $500. Now, if I spent an extra $500 on top of that (a $1500 AR) I will have gained value, but less than that of my initial expenditure. Now spending an extra $500 on top of that, yield very little value gain, and so on. So $10K on one rifle, is not really going to be better than spending $2K on one.
>>
>>32813400
>>32813390
I hear you boys. I build computers, so I understand the concept of diminishing returns. But im the type of person who will pinch pennies in the grocery line, just so I can save up for big purchases like these. The way I see it, I'll be getting a tremendous amount of use out of it, I can absolutely afford it, and I've been saving up to use it for something like this anyways, so I might as well get the best of the best. That's why I spend a lot of money on my pc as well. I use it all the time, so I want it to be the best

I'd rather spend a whole lot of money on something and have it be top of the line than spend nominally less for something that's probably just as good. If that makes any sense.

Thanks again guys for your help and your patience, I do appreciate it
>>
>>32813434
do you want a functional gun or do you want a gucci gun?

Let's put it this way. For ten grand, you could build two or three absolutely top of the line ARs. It is not even really comparable to building computers (you'll find a couple of people who do that too) to where there's a performance benefit to continuing to spend money past a certain point.
You could buy a complete DDMK18 for full MSRP, SBR it and purchase a KAC suppressor, then buy an Elcan Spectre DR (considered stupid expensive for what it is) , then get a better grip stock and trigger. You would have an objectively top of the line completely decked out gucci AF AR and you'd still be around 5k

Warsport has had some pretty garbo QC of late. They're current management is shitting out rifles faster than normal and it's resulted in some airshit tier issues such as rails coming from the factory so twisted, the iron sights are so canted that I.O AK's look good.

At ~$450 to replace them, its worth it just to drop the extra $200 to order direct and not get already5 year sat-on-the-shelf tubes

There's no point to the size of the gen 4 mag release. Half of it is flush with the frame so if you push on the back half, you're just pushing against the frame and it won't depress the button enough to drop the mag. You still have to reach out and press on the far end of the button to drop the mag. Very little practical difference between the gen 3 and gen 4 mag release. It is reversible though which is nice if you're wrong handed.

You're going to want to keep a lot of pipe cleaners handy for the gas tube. Take the upper and lower apart and remove the BCG. You can see the tail end of the gas tube there. Most people recommend running some pipe cleaners through there every 200 rounds or so to prevent it from becoming clogged. If too much fouling builds up in the gas tube the gun will start short stroking as it becomes clogged.
>>
>>32814279
It'll do for now, but invest in a cleaning kit with bore cleaner and oil.

Never stick shit in the gas tube. Dump some CLP in there and let it sit, then blast that shit out with non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner. Rinse&repeat until the fluid comes out clear.

I've found clogged gas tubes to be a very negligible issue if running halfway decent ammo. Never a bad idea to clear it out every so often, but every 200 rounds is a little overkill unless you are shooting overly dirty shit.

>>32814279
I like keeping my bolt, carrier group and the chamber/feed ramps real clean. Running a bore snake through is not a bad idea either. Just watch a couple youtube videos out of the thousands out there. ARs are pretty good about being pretty obvious where they need some scrubbing as the carbon builds in relatively exposed and obvious spaces. They will run dirty as shit for a long time though if you're feeling lazy.

Chimps, gas tubes take a lot of nasty, terrible ammo to even come close to clogging to an extent where they will impede function. Even then it's an extremely rare occurrence. Generally speaking the only place that may be an issue would be the very end where it mates with the gas key. The pressure throughout the rest is so high that nasty shit makes it all the way to the end. I would be willing to bet money you would shoot out your barrel before you would ever have to worry about a clogged gas tube with even shittier steel cased trash ammo.
>>
>>32814306
>You're going to want to keep a lot of pipe cleaners handy for the gas tube.

Only perform this task with very thin pipe cleaner and only if you shoot alot of bear, tula, wolf. Its worse with bear but i love brown bear the most of all steel case ammo. To avoid clogged up gas tube just drop carbon cleaner clp or spray gun cleaner in gas tube after each session and glently and carefully insert pipe cleaner (you know those colored furry wire you play with for crafty time as kid under 2nd grade) in old day alot of folks had pipe cleaner stuck in gas tube.

Best not to do it if you dont have the knack for this kind of thing and replace your gas tube after each 3k of brown bear.

Furthermore, what you're doing here, with this "just run it dirty" mentality is irresponsible. People have gotten killed in the heat of battle thanks to clogged gas tubes. Keeping your gas tube and receiver extension (that's your buffer tube) free of fouling should be part of anyone's cleaning regimen regardless of the ammo you shoot, even if it's $1.10/round black hills boutique.

I am sure CuriousGeorge will back me up on this.

Any in tier 3

Pasted \/

Tier 3
Spike's=Rainer=Sig Sauer
FN=Colt=PSA=Stag=RRA

Dont do Psa, they lower have obvious blue tint to their anodizing even on nonblem if that annoy you it does annoy me

Honesty i would do following in order they are listed from top to bottom
- Colt (everything but barrel is better than fn)
- FN (barrel is made better than colt)
- spikes (be aware of spider logo that also look like pair of cock if that bother you)(use fn barrel and toolcraft bcg very good)
- stag (aesthetics like fuck rollmark) (forget which barrel they use but the bcg is cmt very good)

Chimps, while I appreciate the fact you meant no offense, I'm speaking from first hand experience. Not "I heard some dudes had this happen" internet mythology as you seem to be. I've never poured solvent through the gas tube on my green rifle, I've never stuck a pipe cleaner in it. It's a good 10k rounds in now. That's on a 14.5" barrel with mid-length gas, which would be more prone than most to being under-gassed.

For a man who says to "air" on the side of caution and perpetrates bullshit about AR maintenance with what I'm now convinced is a complete lack of first-hand experience, you are a little out of your element calling anyone dim-witted.

For all incense and porpoises you can go kick rocks homeskillet.
>>
>>32814515
Yep he is right. My psa beater recoil reduce and reduce. I knew something was wrong not my worn gas tube that are failing the wrong bcg stand test and the right test. I knew my springco spring is ever slowly declining in spring rate. So i check every piece of my ar and found carbon build up in gas key of bcg and gas tube.

My psa beater is carbine length 16" extremely overgassed (nothing wrong with that for me i prefer it that way) I had bigger range of operation i would have last longer before failure than those with middy/plus small gas port. This happen at 3k and diet wasnt 100% steel case it was like 85% i will bet my money that it would fail after 5k before 8k if i hadnt clean it up.

If you dont clean your middy gas tube+bcg gas key lets say after 5k with 90% brown bear then suddenly you need to fend off pack of nigger attacking your residence to rob+kill+rape you and your partner. Suddenly your ar fail you and you get zapped with Jimenez and deagle

Weapons are systems of systems. Not only money, but careful understanding of what that tool or tools will do for you matters.

It's a nice change from people collecting wall hangers though.

I recommend to spend your money wisely while taking advantage of the choices money gives you that you use an inexpensive AR to REFINE your decisionmaking process. You can always sell it so the actual cost will be painless.

If you are buying for war, compare notes from recent combat veterans who are also enthusiasts.

You will get MUCH more satisfaction from your money via brain food first.

You can also lurk for someone who blew all their money on a weapon with all the goodies and needs to sell it.

Hit the usual AR forums too.

You can make the process enjoyable, and have rifle, gear, ammo, optics, spare parts for convenience and SHTF, and some gunsmithing tools to make life easy.

I spend a lot on my hobby (motorcycling) and I don't consider ten grand a hell of a lot of money. I do savor thorough study so I can leverage that money for best result for my use case.

OP has enough cash to try things then keep what he enjoys. Go for it!

Absolutely not, it's pocket jewelry. I love how it looks and feels. The S90V will hold an edge for a ridiculously long time cutting cardboard which is mostly all I do. But it's a diminishing returns thing.

If you've ever felt a well used 940 they also feel really great to the touch. The anodizing on the aluminum becomes very soft but still stands up against wear surprisingly well.
>>
>>32815057
>they also feel really great to the touch. The
yea.... while it felt good, i thought it would become very slippery when wet, like say sweat or such... Does the CF have a bit more grippyness to it, or basically the same diff? Notice any rust or discoloration on the S90V?

>>
>>32815070
The CF starts kind of chalky but gets smooth over time. I think it absorbed oil from my hands or something. You're really not going to get much better grip with either one.

So far I haven't noticed any rust spots appearing on the blade and I do keep a keen eye for that. It's gotten wet a couple times and I have wiped it off but that's it. Haven't ever oiled it because I'm curious how well it will do without oil. Hasn't needed it yet.
