The question is not: "is this the most /k/ hobby of all time?"

The question is: "why doesn't /k/ talk about it more?"
>>
Do they actually fire? Like paintball or something?

is /k/ a lifestyle now? get out you hipster

>The Cannons use steel balls ranging from .177" to .25" in diameter as projectiles, typically propelled by CO2 or compressed air. As of 2009, a small number of smaller "Big Gun" ships are equipped with cannons powered by compression springs. In Big Gun combat, club rules usually include provisions for the arming of torpedoes, usually represented by a fixed cannon firing 0.25" diameter projectiles

Apparently so. Neat.
>>
>>32804395
In a word, yes. Battleships usually mount anywhere between 4 and 8 radio-controlled BB guns depending on how many battle units a given ship or class is assigned (battle units can either be used up by offensive weaponry or bilge pumps and balancing the combination of the two is up to the builder and their particular tactical style).

That is fucking unbelievable
>>

>The question is: "why doesn't /k/ talk about it more?"

Because there's another board for fucking TOYS. The most /k/ hobby is shooting, not playing with plastic boats like a tard kid. GTFO and post that crap where it belongs.
>>
>>32804491
wow it's fucking shit
>>
>>32804491
Looks like a simple slug fest. Not really all that interesting or neat.
>>
>>32804624
It sounded neat, up until I saw the video of a cluster of boats "pew pew pew'ing" each other.
What could be more realistic than boats firing at 300rpm?
>>
>>32804491
Are they all having a piss fest ? lol
>>
>>32804491
As cool as I want this idea to be, that looks really stupid to actually do. Basically just remote controlled slapfight.
>>
>>32804668
Time scale, when you shrink shit down you operate at many times the "natural speed" it is pretty much known in all modeling groups.
So if they wanted, they could run the numbers and figure out the proper time scale and set their weapons to replicate that. (to scale of course)

Bilge pumps to simulate damage control.
>>
>>32804706
Yeah, the compensatory workaround is rules limiting the actual number of functional guns that your ship has.

For instance, say the rules stipulated that your IJN Nagato could have 6 battle units. 1 gun = 1 battle unit, and one bilge pump also = one battle unit.

So you could build an offensive ship with 5 functional guns and 1 bilge pump that could dish it out but lack resiliency, or build the Pittsburgh Steelers of MWC ships with 3 bilge pumps and only 3 guns and try to wear down your opponents.(you could also hypothetically build a model with 6 functional guns and no damage control ability that sinks in the first minute or two of battle, if you had down's syndrome).

So another reason why they shoot so rapidly is because your ship might only have 1/2 as many functional big guns as the real thing did but they each shoot much faster than the real one's weapons did.

But yeah, MWC is basically to real naval combat what playing UT is to real operating. Doesn't mean that it isn't still extremely fun though.

So, wait, do you actually play this?
Im not gonna lie im interested. Any advice before i start frantic googling?
>>
>>32804491
This is awesome.
>>32804830
How do I get into this? Would my local hobby shop be able to point me in the right direction?
>>
>>32804858
Nah, I've just spent a ton of time looking into it myself. It costs about a grand to build a complete ship. I'd love to build a SoDak or similar treaty BB if I had the time.
>>
>>32804830
Can I mount anti ship missiles on mine?
>>
>>32804918
The internet is your friend, as are the kit manufacturer sites.

strikemodels.com
battlersconnection.com

Are two great places to start.
>>
>>32804964
Probably not, battle is strictly WWI and WWII only, though in some scale and rule classes people apparently build RC U-boats and Gato's that shoot functional torpedoes.

Now I want to build a Deutschland-class ($638 for an all-inclusive kit from Strike Models!) and built it out as the Graf Spee, complete with deck swastikas and a speaker that blares the Horst Wessel Lied.
>>
>>32804491
I can't tell if there are actual fleets or if it's just one massive free for all.
>>
>>32805210
Allies versus axis, usually. It almost always devolves into a Jutland-style fracas though.
>>
the important question is, can we miunt REAL firearms on these?

ATF rules dont apply to the ocean

Crazy kraut builds fuckhuge battleship model that he sits in and sails around a lake https://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=OSIH4hl650E
>>
Needs more danger and autism.

Steel hulls, gauge based on ship type/historical class. Real guns, .22 short for cruisers, reduced power .38 for battlecruisers, reduced .44 magnum for battleships. None of this fast firing shit, historical load times. Tannerite charges under the turrets.

Operators start on opposite sides of the water, behind ballistic glass with their ships in front of them.
>>
>>32807537
Yes.
>>
>>32804027
I did a lot of research on this when I first had internet access. Overall, it is pretty neat, but you need to have a large local group to have fun. That, and it is quite expensive and time intensive.
>>
>>32804737

if airsoft threads get shit on then toy boaties with bb guns on them should get equally shit on.

you're allowed to go to more than one board on this site, go out and meet new people.
>>
As a kid I fantasized about rc battles using air guns or small firearms or something. big battles with bases, tanks, bombers, fighters ect.

Back then it was pure fantasy but it's actually pretty feasible. With how good and affordable fpv control has gotten this is totally doable ( legal/ safety issues aside) if enough people and money were interested.

Ok just typing that out is making me obsessed with this idea.

Now I need a huge track of land and a million dollars to waste on a thousand armed rc tanks and planes
>>
>>32804491

Do the model makers have scale humans to the battleship sizes that mourn the deaths of thousands? Do we get to see the seeds of hatred be sewn for seven generations as it begins nobly enough, with a fatherless child who was made fun of because his mother turned whore to pay the rent because our nation fucks widows?

Where's the real action at?

If you want to see humanities hate and suffering war is on the low end... Not even pay per view.
