if you had to trust a 1911 with your life, what brand would you get?
>>32781997
Gotta go with glock brand when times get real
>>32781997
deagle brand 1911
>>32782341
Brand doesn't have anything to do with it. 1911's seem to be hit and miss. A buddy has a magnum research 1911 and it can't feed HP ammo. My Springfield eats everything.>>32782341
>>32781997
I have
Norinco 1911, don't laugh it's true. Made true to spec and of some of the best steel ever put into a handgun. Godfather runs a custom shop and love building off off Norinco 1911s.
Forgot the pic
Probably Dan Wesson.
>>32782618
this makes a bit of sense to me since the chinks almost definitely stole the plans/design back in the fifties and haven't changed anything about it since
>>32781997
I EDC a Remington R1 Enhanced.
Added an oversized firing pin stop, wolff recoil spring, Ed Brown night sights, arched msh, and a short length aluminum trigger.
I use factory mags only.
About 4k rounds without any malfunctions of any kind.
It's extremely reliable and accurate.
And with the oversized fps, the rearward slide velocity is decreased, which reduces recoil and muzzle climb.
Closest upgrade to a free lunch you can put on a 1911 imo.
can't go wrong with a colt
>>32782916
>posts a remington
Thompson SMG. I don't mind the weight and they are proven in manywars. I'd have drum and stick mags.
Pistols are what you have when you didn't expect to need a weapon. Rifles and SMG are what you bring if serious.
>>32783268
>hey guys, what 1911 would you want?
>duh, i'd want a thompson machinegun!
Hmmmmm. You were that kid, weren't you?
>hey guys when you get shot you have to go 'ughh' and lay down
>nuh uh! I have a forcefield!
In all seriousness? Any, used, from a competitor that knows it runs. 1911s are IDPA/IPSC guns. I love the fuck out of them, but they have to be honed and if you paid under a grand I wouldn't trust it. Wartime relics and service pistols are a crapshoot. They might be tanks. They might make Kimbers look reliable. It's down to the exact gun you've got. It's the same way with the RIA, Norinco, SIG and Remington models. You can't trust them straight out of the box.
But holy fuck a good built 1911 is the ultimate.
>>32783329
underrated post
>>32781997
Wilson Combat.
>>32782371
Really? I've heard from a lot of people that they've had quite good experiences with the Deage Brand 1911s, despite the retarded name and branding. What magazines does he use and did he ever talk to Magnum Research about it?
>>32782618
People are quick to dismiss the Chinese, but they genuinely make pretty adequate weapons on average, and sometimes, when they put their will into it, they can make some very nice weapons, such as the PolyTech Legend series of AKs, VERY finely made, running the action feels like glass on glass.
>>32781997
Browning hi-power
>Stay cucked, fudds.
>>32782842
Honestly, it's kind of hard to fuck up a 1911, even the Turks and Flips make ok ones.
In some places (where they're not banned from import), it's apparently a thing to buy a basic Norinco brand 1911 (I think they're of a bit of a cheaper make these days), and have it converted into a functional racegun at a low cost, they're supposed to be pretty nice still, aside from the odd sharp edge and tool mark.
>>32783268
Dumbass.
>>32784583
I like 1911s, I like Hi-Powers, and I also like 9mm 1911s.
>>32783329
>>32781997
Tbh pretty much every 1911 over $650 is good to go.
This or the Commander variant
>>32781997
COLT brand Colt
is the only acceptable answer
1911 are a pretty retard proof design
even the llamas work
les baer custom carry
>>32785968
Colt is overrated.
>>32786212
your opinion of your opinions is opverated
Who makes a decent 1911 in .38 Super?
>>32786332
>goes bankrupt every other year
>outdone in 1911s and ARs by everyone else, either at lower cost or at higher quality
>>32786390
Auto Ordnance
STI
Springfield
>>32786433
Thanks m80, appreciate you.
>>32781997
I'd trust my Ruger Talo deluxe. It's noticeable jump up in quality compared to the normal SR1911, which is already an alright gun.
Thinking about a 460 rowland conversion for it.
>>32782618
Maple fag detected
>>32781997
Oh hey, is this a Les Baer Custom thread?
Old Colt like pic related or a Wilson Combat
>>32782916
Fixed that for you.
Who makes non racegun double stack 9mm 1911s/2011s?i know STI has a tactical model, anybody else?
>>32784583
>implying hi-power isn't a fuddgun
>>32781997
Home built brand with enough fiddling to make it reliable.
Got one of the holiday psa blem frames for 99 bucks and went from there.
>inb4 missing screw.
Bushing kit i bought came with one buggered up bushing. Since been rectified.
>>32786490
Did the same thing with an AO frame and the rest surplus GI parts. Had a little trouble with the grip screw bushings did you?
>>32786518
Sorry. Did you stake them or locative them? Staking is the only way.
>>32784614
>9mm 1911's
blasphemy
>>32786535
>locative
Seriously fuck apple. Loctite
>>32783329
>>32786488
I think that if you can get a 17rd magazine that barely protrudes past the grip, you can't just call it a fudd gun.
>>32781997
original GI model from 1911
>>32786536
Older than your dad.
For that matter .38 Super exists, so it's not like a similar idea wasn't there, on top of predecessors to the 1911 prototype being in .38ACP (not .380ACP, .38ACP, imagine .38 Super but with a weaker load)
No grip safety and slightly higher capacity, with very low recoil, yet a potent enough cartridge, I love me some old Stars. The Spaniards did them in both 9mm Luger and 9mm Largo, they only really got to .45ACP much later.

>>32786518
Ya one of them seemed to be pre chewed for my convenience. I bought a new one with a few wilson combat mags. I loctited the bushings in. No problems after dumping 100rds to tune the extractor and ejector
>>32786418
Striker fired meme must die. Not saying striker is bad but holy fuck there is waaay too many out there.
>>32781997
anything rock island or higher in quality. as long as you have good magazines, it doesn't really matter.
>>32786397
>outdone

Pick two and ony two
>>32786418
>>32786660
So... Is this a meme now or what?
>>32784576
I don't think he contacted them. He has been using OEM mags. He has the nicer model with the flared barrel to replace a bushing. He payed good money for it. Like 650 or 700 bucks.
>>32781997
I regularly trust my life with my Baer. I would do so more often with my Ed Brown, but it's still new and I don't want to beat it up in a duty holster.
>>32786840
Amazing book.
When you were a kid, did you read The Machine Gunners?
>>32786774
no friend, it's a handgun
>>32781997
Probably a Dan Wesson. They've got a good rep. That being said I currently trust a commander length sr1911, so far its been 100% reliable.
>>32784614
Is that a super B?
>>32786874
>>32786212
I would say their ARs are, but looking at Colt 1911s part for part when compared to the price range they're actually much better. They're higher priced guns you can start to pay the Pony Tax on, but a 1991 is very nice for the money.
>>32781997
One I put through its paces and know it works, if its a lemon id sell it, if its demonstrating some kinda hangup id get it ironed out.
Sometimes a person gets the drop on you and thats it. No way to perfectly protect yourself. Setting up a good enough defense is good enough.
I think I would want a Heavy Slide though, just to make the action more smooth.
>>32782371
this could be a feed ramp issue, like chaos theory suggests even a microscopic difference can have a huge effect... it may be deflecting the bullet too high as its pushed out of the magazine
> this may be a magazine issue too, for the same reasons
This goes with me everywhere
>>32787228
Thats a nice gun senpai. Here have a nice gun in return
>>32786459
>>32786774

Not this anon but How do you know???
what sort of black magic make you thing this is a remington?
I have an older Kimber II. Might have a FTF every 500 rounds.
>>32787387
You can see Remington Rand on the slide.
Either Para or LAR.
I have four 1911s. But I would take the custom one. It shoots like a dream, accurate and reliable. Top right.
>>32786933
Is the middle a parts kit gun?
What does the reverse side of the slide say?
I need to know for a purchase
>>32787415
holy crap a failure every 500 rounds at a time
why wouldn't you get something else? i can't imagine having a failure 500 times in a row and not switching to something else
>>32781997
One in 10mm
But seriously, USP is better in every way
>>32787884
>YWN go Serphin with full power 10mm loads
Is the Delta Elite still as mediocre as it always was?
>>32787924
Probably, its still a 1911
I dont own one, but would be willing to shoot it for science
>>32788023
Good on you for be willing to take the hit and shoot a thousand dollar handgun, even if it's a thousand Colt dollars.
Anybody know if the RIA 10mm 1911s are any good?
>>32788038
Its the only 1911 ive ever wanted besides a war gun
My range has lots of rare stuff, so they may have one I can rent

>>32782371
>>32784576
I have a Magnum Research 1911. The trigger is rather light, which I like. Came with a bad slide stop, but it hasn't had any problems since I changed the slide stop. Overall, would recommend.
either a kimber or delta elite
