Imports are artificial, what kind of logic do you subscribe to? I am pretty sure import laws are real and regardless of how you "view" them they are the law and set a standard. Want a $300 AK, move to south america or Africa. If not don't whine about the "high" American prices due to import law.

I do not agree with many laws but it does not mean I just look past them and make my own set of prices for what should be standard sales in the US. Sorry brother I live in the real world...

Also sorry your stuck with me, this isn't a safe space faggot.

Repost so you can see this ;)

Don't buy a century tantal unless you check the serial list for keyholing batches. Hint....there were a ton. I had a keyholing one and sold it and bought a serial number known to be safe. It's gtg. I'd stick with something else for 5.45 unless you are collecting countries.
>>
>>32748577
Max I wanna do is 1.5k, I can build the kit myself because I have tools if that factors in
>>
>>32748608
I'm kind of trying to collect countries but also want them to be fairly good rifles

I'd just get an slr-104fr and call it good. But that's what I did so I'm a little biased

I've been looking at them but I think I'll wait on those to start coming back in good numbers for the price to drop

>I emailed James River Armory to ask about their AKs.

Thank you for contacting us. We do apologize for the delay for returning your message. It has been a really busy month. I hope you are doing well. Below are the answers to your questions.

1. This AK is built on a Hungarian parts kit.
2. Barrel is an original Hungarian barrel - excellent condition.
3. Since it is original we do not know the grade of steel.
4. The barrel is chrome lined.
5. The trunnion is forged.

I hope that answered your questions. Thank you and have a great day!

Thanks,
JRA

If you have the fixed stock version, it's probably as good as anything. Probably more dependent on skills and whether you buy ammo with more/less accuracy potential.
The underfolder stock will lower your paper potential, they're absolute shit for aiming since you can't ever get a good cheek/chin/whatever weld and it takes longer to even get your eyes to line up with the sights because they're so misshapen feeling.

Sure, but you'll likely have to buy the components separately as the 301 RS mount won't work on Yugos.

You'll need the 306 (front biased) or 307 (full length) mount which are the Yugo specific mounts.

Mac, from what I've read on here, will say any product is good if the company pays him to review it. DDI seems to make good AKs, but they still have problems to sort out, like the "recent" extractor issue. Best bet is to save and get an AK that has a good track record. Note, "good", no rifle is going to have a flawless, perfect record.

That would make the person in question the exact opposite of shill. Do you not know the definition of the word?

Hickok45 isn't a shill when he thanks Federal and Buds for making his videos possible.

That thing is weird and I'd just avoid it all together. The 74 bit up front is (obviously) incorrect and just looks weird, and Maadis were never under folders so you're really relying on whoever did that conversion that they did a good job and didn't screw anything up

Maadis can be both good or bad. Early imports were great (and currently rare and collectible and expensive), early ban imports are good if ugly and sometimes a little crooked, later ban imports are a little bit hit or miss and you've just got to make sure to inspect the rifle before buying, and some Century built Maadis (MISR90) are a weird hodgepodge of Chinese and Egyptian parts that Century unsurprisingly fucked up. It really depends on the importer and year of import to determine at a glance if the rifle is good or not. But, like I said, they never had underfolders so that one was under the knife at some point in time and you won't know how good or bad it is until you can inspect it in person which is why I'd just avoid it.

Hmm.
Don't see any stamps.
Are there any that I'm just not seeing?
It's either an unstamped Chinese (I've never seen a 75 without some stamp whether it be a triangle with a factory number in it or 9396), or more likely Romanian.

Just gonna try selling and buying an Arsenal.

Iirc there was a guy doing conversions on some drums on the Files.
It was a reintroduction of a design from some years back that apparently worked.
Don't know how far it went though.

>Guess it was just a re-run and he's not doing anymore

http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121683

They are out there, though you'll pay through the nose for one.
>>
>>32752599
Yeah, it's probably a Romy.
They copied the Chinese rear load design as well as the Russian top loader design.

Although, as I said, it's not impossible it is an unstamped Chink, I've just never seen one besides the 100 rounder.
And you Euros have access to a much different market than we do.

I do wish the eyecup wasn't such a hinderance for literally everything, because it's /fa/ as all fuck but there's no reason I can find to actually use the scope with it other than blocking out direct sun

Well then the steel wool will probably be needed.
Again, not sure how the plums will react to this, but it's not going to fuck them up.
The most it's gonna do is nothing as in not help at all except as a lubricant for the steel wool.
But take pics of them before during and after.
Good luck, and hopefully it works great.
Just be patient, and be prepared to just set them aside for a few days before fucking with them again.

>>32755989
The black plums I have are pretty dried out and I'll be testing the process on them, the ones I really WANT to restore are bright purple and a little dried out but more scuffed than anything. I wanted to use the oil as a lubricant for the steel wool that won't fuck with the magazine. I'll definitely post pictures when I get around to doing it
>>
>>32755907
I gave all my bakes and plums an oil bath yesterday. I wiped off extra oil this morning and will probably reapply later tonight.

The matte-ish plums look a bit better and the glossy plums look slicker, but nothing has improved as much as the bakelite. I'm not messing with steel wool though; I've got 20-something mags and not enough room to clean and dry them all at once.

Nice.
Paper towels will work fine.
I'd recommend that over just a rag, as I think the rag would soak up the oil and not let you get a good coat on the mag.
Could be wrong, but I've got a method and I don't really deviate from it.

Hope your's turn out as well as mine have.

As long as you don't steel wool it, the oil can actually make it pop better.
That's a lot of mags at once though.
Yikes, I did mine like 4-8 at a time.
