I've got a zigzag already, I need something that's not the size of a trashcan (4 piece, strela, etc) and more effective than the FHMB from SRVV. I know the Bulgies have a bird cage but I'm not sure I want that one. So it seems I need to go even deeper into obscure spavshit

Because they're all crap where the manufacturers cut corners left right and center because they want to save money and don't know any better. DDI is questionable and got shit on big time because AK Operator's Union had two in a row break their extractors

AKOU's 5000-round trials would suggest that PSA is the best of US-made right now.

I'll probably use Ballistol if I ever need to oil it again, but mostly I just want to get off the dirt and grime and add a bit of shine back to it, so olive oil buff and then clean rag wipe seems to do the trick. Some guys on AK Files who do a lot of bakelite refinishing say it's too thick to soak into the actual bakelite much. I've got mags I buffed that way 3 years ago and they're all still relatively shiny and don't stink from rancidity so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>
>>32731774
>>32731824
Very pretty, would canola oil be good for restoring bakelite? Its what I have right now, but the AK files guide recommends bath oil.

I don't buy bath oil, but I think some of it is mineral oil with other shit added to it.
If that's the case, just go buy pure mineral oil. It's cheaper than bath oil and your stuff won't smell like a whore.
>>
>>32731899
I'd give Ballistol a shot. Now that I mentioned it I looked it up and it turns out it's mostly just mineral oil and not petroleum-based. Hickok uses it on his 1911s as a CLP, so it'll probably have plenty of other uses down the line for you too.

But is does have alcohols in it, as well as salts, which will possibly degrade and weaken bakelite.

The stuff monkeytail uses, as do I, is salt free fragrance free body oil (it's stabilized seasame oil)
It works the best for restoration and has zero smell.

>>32732225

Doesn't do anything and won't absorb.
It just sits on the surface, and when you wipe it off, any benefit will be wiped away with it.

What years did the wasr 10 have problems?

A friend is wanting to buy one with the serial of 1-282XXX-2001 which I assume 2001 is year of production? That sounds pretty early on if that is the correct date of manufacture.

Smells even more like a whore, and you definitely shouldn't ingest it at that point.

I've had some experiences with canola oil, unrelated to firearms, which in retropect turns my stomach to think about. Beyond that, how could you not notice the smell and how it clings to skin so readily? How did you rationalize putting it on the handguard of a firearm?

Thanks for opening up.

My suggestion is to go mechanical or electrical (the most widely recognized and hired) and look into working in defense.

My situation was a little similar, never had depression though.
Top of my class in a private high school. Stopped caring about GPA in college, became focused on learning and accepted the grades I got. First year was a lot of fun with Chem II and Orgo.
I skipped a lot in the middle of my schooling; the some subjects just don't keep me engaged.

Toward the end I learned to manipulate my classes so I could do projects that I wanted to do anyway, and get a grade for them. That was ideal. Tough work because my standards are high, but something to be proud of.

Transitioning to work was a lot easier. When you're off the clock, you're off. No studying, no nothing. Making good money for doing interesting things.

Looks like we're back to the "worth my PTR" / "worth $780" questions

"Early production Century AK74. Built on an Elk River Run receiver. Green mountain barrel" (are these chrome lined?) "Made from a Bulgarian parts kit. 200 rounds through it."

"NOS laminated Russian stock, rare rubber butt pad" (lol)

He says PTR + $250 for everything pictured or even trade for the rifle with the original furniture and without the Bake's (2 plum, 2 black mags).

Sent him a question about leaving the furniture on in an even trade.

Gotta give it to him, probably the best LOOKING AK I've been offered thus far.

>"Early production Century AK74.

Uh oh. https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_4_54/124590_.html&page=1

> Built on an Elk River Run receiver.

That's nice.

>Green mountain barrel" (are these chrome lined?)

Nope. It is almost certainly a 1:9" 5.56mm barrels shortened at the chamber end so that 5.45mm ammo sorta chambers and sorta headspaces in them--the same absolute dogshit barrels Century used in their infamous Tantal builds. In addition to not being chrome-lined, the barrels are oversized by .003" to .004" and have a rifling twist rate much too slow to stabilize any milsurp or most commercial 5.45mm ammo. These rifles are frequently found with the (Tapco) AK74 clone muzzle device rust-welded to the muzzle, and a bore that looks like twenty miles of dirt road.

>"NOS laminated Russian stock"

Putting a nice laminated Russian '74 stock on a Century build with an unserviceable, out-of-spec barrel is like $2000 spinner rims and a suspension lift job on a rusted-out 1990 Geo Metro.

It's your stuff and you can do what you want with it but I'd email the guy back telling him he's got great big brass balls thinking his Century POS is worth anything whatsoever, other than as an incomplete parts kit.

Remember. Century import? Mite B cool. Built by Century? Run the fuck away. Century Tantals and Century "Bulgarian 74 Sporters" are infamous.
>>
>>32733552
You could get a donor dust cover and mount a bag to it. Any netting material would work, and as a frame get some 10ga copper or steel wire. A simple backstitch would keep the bag in place.

Caused me to withdraw completely. Stopped checking my email and stopped going to class because I was scared of facing the professors. Became paranoid. Barricaded the door to my dorm so nobody could get in. I was asleep more than I was awake those days. Stopped going online complete. Thought about suicide every minutes.

Don't have enough gpa to get into engineering school now. Could've got my bad grades disappear for medical reasons but was too scared to take the necessary steps.

That went on for 2 and a half years. Can't even step foot on that campus without having a panic attack now. When I see a certainpopular actor who closely resembles my advisor, panic attack. I'm on medications now. Things are looking up

Century has ALWAYS been shit.

I am an oldfag and can remember these exact same conversations about Century CETMEs and Century FALs and Century MAS49s "converted" to 7.62x51mm with a chamber reamer that had burrs on it resulting in fired cases tearing in half rather than unstick themselves from the notched and grooved chamber walls, twenty years ago.

Century imports some decent stuff, but the rifles their team of thumb-fingered crackmonkeys builds in-house... no. Just no.

Yes, it is. It won't be happening too quickly.

That hinge mechanism they used is a good solution (all things considered).

This is an interesting argument for CH placement and/or BHO which I hadn't considered before.

I've passed classes by a hair on more than one occasion. Had some fun arguments with professors/TAs too. Generally if they know you to ask interesting questions they will want you to succeed regardless of what grade you end up with.

I know it's not easy to break away from introversion. Perhaps I was lucky. More than introversion, I was always about challenging myself and eventually that led me to take up theatre in high school. Pretty much any social interaction to follow was easier and I've not had problems like that since. (Coming from a kid who couldn't walk through the halls in primary unless he stared at his shoes.)

Sit in the front of class. It does wonders for the experience and retention. Contrary to what you might think, when you can't see people in front of you the room feels like it's just the people at your shoulders and the prof up front. When I sit in back I'm more self conscious speaking up and wasting others' time.

Go easy on the drugs, I'm sure you know your limits so just be careful with that stuff.

Didn't really do a whole lot with those besides clean some of the funk off, but it might help on plums.
The way to get the best results would be to put a light coat on and let it dry/soak in for a few days and reapply.
Do that a few times over the course of a couple weeks, and see if there's improvement.
Might have to go the full treatment and lightly hit them with 0000 steel wool, if they're in real bad shape.

Here's the original write up by Monkeytail
Might give you a better idea of the process.

This is embarrassing, Nick. Just admit you got tired of getting owned by practically everyone in this general every time you popped your fat face out.

I think I heard your extractor break again, better go fix that.
>>
>>32735275
Wow thanks man, I'll go read that now. I've used some ultra fine sandpaper on one and it cleared up the scratches on it but it's super dry looking and regular gun lube (my usual go-to for this kinda stuff) won't stay on long

I paid $700 for my DDI AK74, and last time I checked Arsenals were $1100-1200. That's a $500 difference.
>>

Yeah maybe from your fat uncle. Check again, but do it elsewhere from here.

Your shilling for DDI is so obvious it's sad.

Going arsenal rate is about $1000 for an slr series. Stop using absurd prices for your own devices. If you can't win an argument without lying, just admit you're wrong. You look less retarded
>>
>>32735319
Kvar has 105s for $1066 at cheapest. So you're right, I'm wrong, it's only a $366 dollar difference that still nets you a rifle with shittier QC and no customer service.

>>32735339
$1000 for 107s, correct, but $1066 and up for 5.45 AKs.

Same way you can justify Arsenal not being competent enough to notice that the bore wasn't in the center of the barrel; the only difference is if my bolt fails I'll get a new one for free and you'll be lucky to even get someone on the phone at Arsenal.

>Price point of MY rifle
>MY rifle is a DDI AK74
>I am moving the goalposts
It's a shame that the Ringling Bros have already announced that they're disbanding because your hoop jumping and mental gymnastics could seriously have saved the show.

DDI has consistently delivered kit build AKs well below the market cost of Arsenals (from the original price of $500 for their WW parts kit builds to their 2nd run of AK74s at $600 to their third run of AK74s at $700 and $750 and their multitude of $700-850 AKMs). Only now are you seeing them reach Arsenal prices because they're doing everything in house, which requires more time and labor than slapping together parts kits.

The saddest part about anons wondering aloud is that they won't even bother to reply to me in hopes that I won't see their post and call them out for sniffing their own farts without realizing they shit themselves long ago :^

>>32735545
You've yet to post proof they're not, which is funny because I've already pointed out there are three rifles that cost the same as Arsenal SLR107s, which brings down your own vision of how things happened.

I know you want to believe I'm a dragon and you're a knight slaying me like you wish you could slay poon on a Friday night, but the fact of the matter is I'm being perfectly reasonable, have admitted when I am wrong, and have played this entire argument out by your rules, yet you still want to play like a child and lose while doing it.

woah that's fucking shit.
>>
>>32735626
I know that, but products that are imports/not related at all shouldn't count toward the company's other products, just like how the IO imported Archer rifles are good but IO produced rifles are absolute shit.
>>
>>32735634
You literally posted a rifle and claimed it was the same one I had, then claimed I was moving the goalposts when I posted that I had an AK74 that was worth less than the AKM. You didn't show their absolute cheapest rifle because their absolute cheapest rifle was $500 back when they did their first production AK74 run. Mine was $750 all said and done, and that's because I bought the Magpul edition over the Hogue edition, which was only $700.

The only thing I want from you is to fuck off and stop acting like you're beating me down with some awesome argument when in reality you yet to even make an argument. You can't stick to a single fucking topic long enough to even come up with a single coherent point to back your argument before you retreat to the next argument, then act like you're winning by not fighting. If that's the case, I'll just never respond to you again and I'll be the ultimate winner by not wasting my time with someone who can't even comprehend the basic adult principle of admitting when you're wrong.
>>
>>32735670
Fucking SGLs used to be the same price as arsenals, they're considerably more now, does that mean the old price is still valid? Fucking moron. THEY DON'T SELL AT THE PRICE POINT YOU'RE USING FOR A STANDARD. The absolute cheapest they're selling for is the ad on classic that I posted. Your anecdotal evidence means absolute fuck-all. You have no proof of anything, fuck off
>>
>>32735689
The absolute cheapest they're selling AK74s for is $700.

Once again. You're failing at applying words to concepts. Just be an adult and admit that you're wrong. You're a fucking anon on an image board; I'd respect you more at this point if you just pretended this argument never happened than if you were to continue on with this bullshit.

this is why I bailed. I checked job postings in defense for months, only finding two. People don't know what ChemE is outside of research. From what I gathered from my ChemE peers, it was the path of people who wanted to do medical research but who didn't want to take the medical track.
I wanted to work in some very specialized fields in materials science at the time, but you don't want to try to leave college and shoot for a specialized field in industry; it comes with time. Get hired for a typical position and work your way around inside the company.

If you perform poorly as a ChemE student or don't want to do medical, you are going to end up with something like water treatment.

It's a homemade chord to plug your generator straight to your house. Will work. Problem comes when the lineman goes to fix the lines and your house is feeding back into the lines and kills him because you are retarded and didn't switch off the main breaker. If it doesn't kill the lineman when they switch the power on it will feed straight into the generator which will explode and fuck your shit up. They are dumb.

can confirm

to emphasize for others reading, connecting your generator like that is niggerish; one should rig up a toggle (DPDT, unless you have 3-phase) before the main breaker and have it connected with lugs or nice sockets

you can do this in fancier ways and pay exponentially more, but the premise is the same. don't have the power line from the power company active at the same time as your generator
