VEPR because you're probably not going to find a Saiga any time soon. VEPR will be a fair bit bulkier since it's an RPK pattern, but for a .308 it'll probably work out better anyway. Good luck with that mag situation though. Can't recall seeing too many .308 AK mags in that capacity.

Hey guys, I still need to finish the front end conversion on my Saiga. It has AKM handguards that I installed with one of those clamp on handguard retainers, but it still has the original gas block and front sight assembly.

It looks to me like those two parts will have to be cut off and new ones pressed on, is this correct? I have a press, would this be difficult to do? I have built an AK-74 before, but it seems like it'd be tough to press those parts on since the barrel is already in the receiver.
