>>
>>32487782

Pretty bad. Those AMD kits have super soft barrels (5RC compared to other AK's at 25RC) which means the barrels will wear out faster than a properly hardened barrel. Contrary to what that one new retarded tripfag will surely say.
Just save up $100 more and get the WASR.

Lol
A couple years ago I found an unconverted sporter 7.62 Saiga that had that version of the side rail. I kept it open in a tab for ages wondering if I should go for it or not. The starting bid was $700 but I had recognized the seller's pattern of setting reserves much higher than the starting bid. That rifle also had the first generation smooth top cover. I really probably should've gotten it for parts and used it as a base for a project of some sort. But that was a much better deal than a .410 Saiga that I'd have no use for aside from the rail.

Promags?
People here talk about them like they are made of compressed cow shit but I received one as a birthday gift from someone who didn't really know better and I decided to go ahead and use it. Turns out it works just fine. No problems feeding, at all, and it has held up for years. Now...I don't abuse my stuff like dropping loaded mags on concrete or things like that, so I don't know how well it would hold up to that.

tl;dr They work, but there are better options out there. surplus mags are cheap, sturdy, reliable and plentiful.

i was thinking about that and maybe a rear sight leaf rail. i like the idea of having good field of view with an AK, but i also like to be accurate. so i dont know if i should mount the red dot close to my eye or farther down the gas tube.
>>
>>32491475
This. first post is cat. Fuck off. These never fill up fast.
>>
>>32492954
Generally, you want a red dot further away from your eye to get on target quickly.

You could always go with an AK MasterMount and a forward-biased side-mounting rail for a red dot if you don't want to go with a gas tube rail.

I personally wouldn't go with a sight leaf rail or gas tube rail as long as there are other options available, but it's mostly a matter of preference.

Have you considered having a gunsmith add a side rail? It might be worth it. Lot's of options open up to you if you have one.

Or, you could replace your rear sight with one that is also adjustable for windage. I would do this before I would put a rail there and add an optic.

looks nice, but it looks like id need to take down my ak to a point i havent been to before. Seems like the better option yeah. works with most side rails?

>>32493344
i didnt think of that, but it would bug me having the rear sight so far tweaked just to shoot accurate at 50 yards. i like optics a lot, my AR has a 1-6x acss, and it shoots wonderfully, but my AK i just want a red dot. dont plan on reaching out as far as my AR will.

There's almost no disassembly required. All you need to do is take off this spring, take out the trigger pin and hammer pin, and replace them with the one in the kit. It's a really simple process, and you can definitely do it yourself.

If they're gonna let your shit through they usually let it sit pretty quick.

What normally takes a while is getting it put onto a boat or plane to actually send it out

Check your tracking number on a few different sites too, I've noticed that some of them can have discrepancies

The most surefire way to know whether it's coming or not is if USPS has received tracking
>>
>>32494682
Oh, the Venezuelan. There are so many PK scopes I thought you meant something actually called PK-AV.
Right. I love it. It's big and heavy but not too heavy. Rugged, and durable as hell. Low so you don't have to do a chin weld, but still high enough to not get a real cheek weld. Sort of somewhere in between. It's actually low enough to get a true co-witness with the irons.
The red dot isn't perfectly round, kind of a misshapen blob, but from what I've seen all russian red dots are just blobs.

tl;dr I really like it and would recommend it to anyone asking.

Russian post moves at russian post speeds. You shouldnt order from over there if you arent prepared for a 5-6 week wait, also it is the holiday season over there so packages are being delayed left and right. Relax faggot

Awesome. Anyone that can compare this with the Kobra? I'd love a Kobra, but the PK-A Venezuela seems like a safer option.

Hello slavaboos, I'm interested in a Makarov and I saw this on armslist http://www.armslist.com/posts/6249672/orlando-florida-handguns-for-sale--bulgarian-makarov-with-5-magazines--spetznaz-holster--hornady-and-more

It looks like a nice gun but the price is pretty nuts for whats included, I found everything online for $450 or less so I offered him $400. He was nice but declined, what do you guys think its worth?

Also he's relisted the thing for over a week now, the most recent time he raised the price from $530 to $570 kek
>>
>>32495310
This is not the Makarov thread, but it's definitely not worth that price.
>>
>>32495310
I think that this isn't makarov general and that you should get the $260 bulgy mak on sportsmansguide
>>
>>32495310
Bulgarian mak is $300 in that condition
4x mags $80
2x boxes of hornady $50
Gimmicky holster $50
Holster + Rod $20

Offer him $450-$500 of you actually want that. If not just get a bulgarian mak online
>>
>>32495339
>2x boxes of hornady $50
Nah it's more like 35 bucks.
>>
>>32495331
>>32495335
>>32495339
There isn't a Makarov thread, also
>Not 21
>No handguns for me at stores
>>
>>32495386
So make one, this is the AK thread.
>>
>>32495386
Well then beggars can't be choosers, either wait or shell out more money for what you want
>>
>>32495399
it's still a firearm of soviet origin, lighten up a little bit, it's better than discussing cats vs dogs for the umpteenth time
>>
>>32495433
We don't have to discuss that, ya'll let people.
>>
>>32495453
You're right, next time I will put my foot down and stop them.

Not an argument.

Can cosmoline stain in the white bolts or should I put more effort into removing it?
>>
>>32495701
Sure, it can stain it.
>>
>>32495701
You should most definitely remove all of it, whether it can stain or not.

It was around 300 dollars of stuff, but I'm hoping that eBay will have me covered if it never shows up
>>32494723
Just checked with usps, the package status is marked as accepted
>>
>>32494519
I will be getting a POSP 2.5-5 for mine.
>>
>>32495746
You should be safe then, that basically means that someone after customs has told USPS
>mate, we have some mail coming to you
If it gets stuck in customs this doesn't happen as far as I know

Just sit back and wait for it to make the trip across the sea

Is no one talking about the fact that ddi is sold and they fired all their employees after christmas?
>>
>>
>>32496349
wrap your patches around it. it grips it while you push through the gun
it spins so it can follow the rifling without spinning the cleaning rod

A quick search on YouTube or Google will explain a lot. Century manufactured shit is trash, they look very nice on the outside but are of sub-par quality compared to combloc AKs. If you must have an American AK get one from Palmetto State Armory.

PSA AK looks ok but it's still inferior to military factory AKs like Arsenal SLRs or WASRs.
