The Heavy Count-Assault Rifle. A M1918 BAR derivative. Extremely accurate and can eat any 30-06, Can do alot more than .308 guns with pretty cheap ammo.
>>
>>32473017
>>32473027
And can use all surplus 20 round BAR magazine as well as newly made 30 round OOW magazines.

But it is still like a 12 pound rifle. Plus 30-06 is heavy to.

The only answer right now is to get swole af.

I live in Brazil, we hunt them at night with nothing but flashlight.
.22 is enough for a shot in the head and not spoiling any of the meat, I understand what you guys meant though, it's more for sport and challenge than actual feeding.
Bad thing around here is not the bears though, we have the equivalent of your mountain lion and also panthers in general, on my family property there's a huge population of them and also a type of wolf.
These "javelinas" you say are called the same name around here "Javali" but we also call them "queixada" because of the noise they make with their teeth. They go around in packs of 30+ here.
Can't show you photos, pictures or dates, if any police whatsoever catch you with anything of the sort around here you'll be grounded for a lot of time, there's no hunting season here.
Guns are also forbidden, so I'm also jelly on yours.

>>

I think he would wonder why they use full size M1918 BAR internals, and not the previously shortened M1919 Colt Monitor which was 13 pounds nearly 90 years ago!

If they applied the modern materials and style to a Colt Monitor, they'd weigh like 10 pounds.
>>
Wish I could fool people on the distribution centers and buy guns piece by piece abroad and assemble it at home. They only sell garbage weapons here in the country and it's mostly illegal so only law enforcement would be able to buy it.
For example, only a drug dealer in the favelas can have a barret to put down a chopper or an ak47 to mean business. Only cops and bandits have guns here, and they're mostly both the bad guys.

Hopefully I'll be able to get a nitride BCG, phosphate is not really super resilient against rust in my experience.

The inner belt fits me with a pair of pants on, but not with the HSGI belt. Thats fine, didnt match the wolf grey color scheme im going for.

Wanted to give it a go walking around with armor and 180 rounds of .308 under my hardshell, see how it feels, such is life.

Hesse is in the same boat as a lot of other older cetme/g3 clones in that, their low quality and their problems are exacerbated by their age but collectors like them because their old. I'd say get it as it is probably worth more than the $600 he wants for it but if you want a good shooter you may be better off getting a c308 that new, hasn't had age chip away at it, and is done by a company you can actually sent your rifle to should problems come up. Just my two cents.

Just wondering about the bolt, it doesnt cam in and out freely like my MCX. Im wondering if its a DI thing since the MCX is a piston gun or an AR10 thing. The gun still functions fine, the first 140 rounds today without issue, its just i have to use my fingers to cam it instead of it doing it freely. Did it out of the box, did it after i cleaned it and lubed it, and it still does it after being fired today

It doesn't go all the way into battery? What bolt/BCG are you using? You might have to break it down and check it out thoroughly.
>>
>>32489826
It cams it just seems stiffer than it should be
>>
>>32489763
Hrmm. Could be a few possibilities.
Who made the BCG?
>>
>>32489839

May be your barrel, check out how smooth the feed ramps are. Might just have to lube it up and break it in some more.
>>
>>32489839
it just sounds like its still breaking in. if it functions without issue, i wouldnt worry too much about it.
>>
>>32489852
Armalite I believe unless theyre putting someone elses in their rifles
>>32489856
Its with the BCG out of the rifle really, no problems with basic function. Im just worried about unnecessary wear.

Found a Norinco SKS at a pawn shop for $320 with all matching serials.. had a scope mount on it (with a likely shit 4x scope on it) that goes over the original dust cover but doesn't do anything permanent to it. Just replaces the rear pin and has some set screws in the back.

Internals look better than most SKS's I've seen, barrel looks good. Talked them down to fucking $260. How in the hell? Is there something else I'm missing here that could be wrong with it?

My exact intentions. I sold a bubba'd one to a guy for $475 back when I still lived in MD which was in shit condition. I could pull $400 for this one easy. Let me take some pics.

It also has an additional 4" of wood added to the stock (which is actually added quite nicely aside from the pattern difference, but it's too long for me). Guess some tall motherfucker owned it before.

I might get a new stock if not, but what's the chance of me being able to remove that extension (saw it off) and just get a replacement metal rear plate so I can keep the serial-matching stock?
>>
>>32490326
You could probably just sell it for 400 as is
>>
>>32490457
Well I don't necessarily want to sell it if it shoots well. I'm going to take it to the range as is and see how it does. If it does well I'm keeping it.

Do you mean you need some effort to push the bolt in and out of the BCG? That's normal for direct impingement. It relies on the seal between the bolt and BCG to make the expanding gases work the action. For initial break-in make sure to lube the BCG more than normal. Also make sure to clean out the copper from the barrel after each range trip for the first 2-3 trips or 200 rounds, which ever comes first.

just going off your post you dont have the knowledge base to be considering a century

headspace doesnt determine your fucking caliber, the barrel itself does, jesus christ almighty

the early ones had shaved bolts to headspace properly because century decided instead of using the proper rollers on the bolt we're just going to file shit out so that it fucking works, which is retarded

i wouldnt shoot one without having a very very thorough look through every part

spend the extra $200-300 and get a PTR, which will also have the paddle release installed (clip/pin jobs are ~$150, and the rifle wont require a smith to make sure it wont kill you)

>>
>>32494407
>>32494599
Haven't been able to shoot it but honestly it looks like the price is comparable to what you would spend building the same rifle.

A bunch of parts are generic DPMS to cut cost where they can get away with it like the charging handle, A2 grip, "mil-spec" single stage trigger. It would be nice to see better parts here but they would rapidly skyrocket cost if they used nicer things like Vltor charging handles, Magpul grip, and Geissele triggers. The BCG appears to be well done though with proper gas key staking and the barrel in the BA Hybrid is from Ballistic Advantage. They also use UTG Pro which is poorfag tier but still works.

I need to actually shoot the thing but I haven't had time to. It's right around 8 pounds and is fairly light and handy with the balance point right at the edge of the magwell.

Also came with a free PMAG and soft carrying case which is nice. Customer service is also pretty good, near-instant response times in my experience.

By the DPMS/armalite tier set. As I said SIG and PWS for the sub $2000 price point is great.

If you don't mind building, get a mega arms maten receiver set, toss on a ballistic advantage barrel, sprinkle in a good trigger, decent other parts and you'll have money left over for mags.

fal or my psl

I want a shtf hunting rifle. A rifle that I could go out into the woods when I believe the world is in a 'shits fucked' mode.

You could always try to wrangle together an IMBEL kit build for somewhere in the neighborhood of $1100; the FAL doesn't need a ton of specialized tools to assemble, just a barrel wrench, headspacing gauge, and a decent set of screwdrivers, wrenches, and brass punches.
>>

A good psl is usually at moa or better as far as the rifle is concerned.

I don't mean to come off as an asshole but what the other anon said is probably right. If you can't bullseye at 50 yards with a scoped rifle, the rifle probably isn't the problem.
>>
>>32500342
Sub moa with an FAL is possible.
Your going to need an custom barrel, a rigid handguard, and some luck.

Realistically if you want sub moa, AR10 is the surest way. SCAR and G3 might get you there or damn close.
>>
>>32496474
good luck buddy, youve been saying that for over a year

if you werent a poorfag youd have one by now

>>32500087

>>
>>32500643
I got the barrel less than a year ago.
I could have gotten one, your right. But I found a steal on a G34, and then I bought a suppressor, and then I got an LMT.

You know what, I could probably get one next week, I think I'm going to get a new scope or handgun.

The FAL is not a priority. It's an old rifle, and doesn't hold the allure for me. Might just cheap the fuck out, get a coonan, assemble it and sell it off.

I bullseye the target at 100. The problem is the spread. I hit the bullseye, but I also hit 3 moa to the left and right. As the barrel heats up they start stringing vertically.

>>32500616
I was gonna swap out the barrel for a krieger barrel. Put on a acr stock, a 3.5 lb jard trigger and some free floated handguards

Pic related.

So both the fal and psl can be sub moa but an ar10 is the most cost efficient road to walk

The vltor isnt free floated. Which is actually good, very rigid handguards that are non free floating tend to improve the accuracy.

A custom cut FAL barrel, double hook trigger, oversized locking lug, rigid handguards all help make an FAL accurate. It's just not always cut and dried what the next step to improve it on an FAL.

With what you describe, you should be able to do 1.5moa for sure, might be sub moa. FN dropped the FAL for a reason trying to make it into what a SCAR is today.

Have your dreams though
>>
>>32500757
>get a coonan

so youre cheap, lazy and dumb
>>
>>32502658
Its more that my desire for an FAL has waned considerably. That im less sure of being able to sel off a shorty .358 winchester barrel and an ACR stock adapter than I am of being able to sell the complete package.

If I decide that I really want a super strong 9mm rifle, ill hunt around for an LMT. But if I continue just be ambivalent at best about the FAL, im going to want to offload it. Especially as that im basically going to have to buy a complete rifle, strip the reciever off of it to get an LMT made one. Which leaves me needing another receiver to put that one back together and sell off.
>>
>>32500278
50 yards is nothing.
My psl is pretty much holes touching accurate as 100 yards if I'm not messing it up. Find the ammo it likes, make that your top priority for accurising it.
>>32500342
>Ive heard of ppl getting sub moa out of both the fal and the psl platforms
It's possible, but I'd say I'm slightly over more often than slightly under when I really go for groups. But that's with factory 188 surplus which is built beautifully for surplus ammo. I can't get the same consistency with anything else surplus. Bulgarian is close, but seems to always have some inconsistent shots. I notice certain shots seem hotter than others too from bulgarian, and if you pull bullets on both types of ammo, you'll see that much more care was put into the factory 188. The 150gr wolf branded stuff is about equally well made.

check to see if the trigger housing is metal or plastic. If its metal, and it was done improperly as hesse has been know to do, it may wobble which, that may be an ascetic issue but should not a real problem. Wear on the welds that hold the pin holes, specifically the ones that hold the stock is a big issue. Actually, inspect any welds you see for issues. Also, check to see if the receiver is cast metal, it's probably not but that could be an issues as those are know to basically fall apart.
>pic related is what a cast receiver looks like
but beyond that i can't really think of anything. Inspect it well, take pictures, ask questions here if anything seems odd. Good luck on your purchase.

To be long and drawn out, get what ever you want. Both will be fine for most applications whether that be sport shooting or hunting. I personally think, and i bet most people here would agree with me, the Springfield is a much better looking gun, so that may be a reason to buy it.
however, the ptr91 is a better buy. The m1a is waaaaaaaaaay overprieced and with the savings you could have by buying a ptr 91 or the dsa FALs, you could buy a good amount of ammo.
>>
>>32492240
yeah, it's a decent deal for a semi auto .308 but you are buying a lower quality product. While, I can't think of a case where it did actually explode, it did have at least one case i know of where it slam fired.
In short is a cheap, low quality .308 that probably wont kill you.
probably.

Question to anyone with a Garand:

I recently got my Garand from CMP, and when I went to the range to test/zero, I noticed that the recoil would cause the elevation knob to turn and lose whatever position it had been at. I brought the rifle back home, disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt the rear sight. When I take it back to the range, if the sight doesn't hold the elevation correctly is there anything I can do? I've tightened to the windage screw as far as I feel comfortable with, and anymore locks down the elevation knob so that it won't turn. I'd like to be able to fix it myself if at all possible

>>
>>32503762
Is that because this kit comes with components for an automatic fire rifle? Because I would think that having enough components to build a machine gun would warrant NFA registration. How could this be illegal in WA and still not be a machine gun?
>>
>>32510987
>buy a surplus parts kit with a FA trigger pack, three FA trigger groups, and a FA bolt carrier.
>use it for the pretty wood furniture and surplus slings.

Also, some of the spare used tools that came in mine were gems.
>>
>>32511047
I'm just surprised the ATF doesn't require registration of parts that were designed for FA variants. So after you've picked through the kit for the aesthetic goodies, do you just "lose" the extra FA parts in a boating accident?
>>
>>32511134
No, they're not illegal to own. The FA trigger groups can't fit on the SA receivers without modifying either the trigger packs or the receiver.
>>
>>32511145
Here's the question then: >>32503762 mentioned that Apex wouldn't ship these crates to Washington state due to WA's ban on NFA weapons. Is this just a formality, or are these parts actually illegal to own in WA?
