Consider the following:
Barring unusual physical damage, USGI magazines do not deform over time and do not deform due to use or through any force a human hand can exert upon them without tools.
PMags do. You can squishy squishy them with your comparatively soft human finger if you don't believe me.

When a USGI magazine is made to a specification, it keeps that dimension forever. In other words, if it's checked to specification before leaving the factory, it's ALWAYS in spec until it's physically damaged. It doesn't matter if it gets hot, freezes, slides, abrades, suffers spring pressure or sits in the sun for 50 years, it will still fit in any lower receiver.

When a PMag is manufactured in a mold, the individual mold size varies, the molds wear out, daily plastic blends vary, the tensions in the plastic cause immediate deformation upon cooling, spring tension causes deformation, heat and colt cause deformation and use causes deformation. There's only so much testing and QC on molds and final dimensions that Magpul can do before magazines leave the factory, and that's before weather, UV decomposition, degradation and flex set in.

USGI mags are subject to none of that.

Find me a single story on planet Earth where a correctly manufactured, non-damaged USGI magazine stuck in a magwell. They've been manufactured for 70 years and it's never once happened.

I could link 20 forum threads full of people bitching about PMags sticking in various brands of receiver. And they've only been manufactured for nine years.

Whatever you guys need to believe to feel good about your tacticool flavor-of-the-month purchases is fine I guess, this is meme-central, but it would be healthy to take a step back and consider reality: PMags are shit next to USGI. The fact that Magpul releases a new "improved" (less shit) PMag every 2 years and that USGI mags have remained externally unchanged for decades should be evidence enough.

The feed lips are already shaped to caress brass from the factory, how's brass (a softer metal than anodized aluminum) going to deform aluminum? It's literally physically impossible.

No, that magazine has been repeatedly abused by dropping it directly onto it's feed lips, which isn't normal use. When you hit the mag release, what happens? The mag falls straight out and it's base plate hits the ground. Not it's feed lips.

You'd have to constantly, repeatedly do some bizarre Haley Fagtegic cartwheel mag flick gimmick to get it to land on the feed lips enough times to damage them, and that's very plainly

As the owner of the mag I 100% guarantee you that's exactly what happened there.
>the feed lips are already shaped to caress brass from the factory
No, the feed lips are shaped to CONTAIN brass from the factory. Here, let me illustrate it with a new/unused USGI mag, pic related. Notice how it curves IN and doesn't perfectly conform to the follower?
>how's brass (a softer metal than anodized aluminum) going to deform aluminum? It's literally physically impossible.
How can I wear a hole in a steel plate with a pine stick? How does water erode stone, last I checked water's pretty fucking soft. How does M193, composed of copper and lead, penetrate hardened steel? How do jewelers cut diamonds with aluminum oxide? Answer: You're a complete fucking retard without even a middle-school grasp of any of the hard sciences.
>no, that magazine has been repeatedly abused by dropping it directly onto its feed lips
THIS JUST IN! WHEN YOU DROP A GI MAG ON ITS FEED LIPS IT SOMEHOW DEFIES THE RULES OF GRAVITY AND PHYSICS AND BENDS IN THE DIRECTION OF THE IMPACT INSTEAD OF AWAY FROM THE IMPACT LIKE LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE ON THE PLANET DOES!

Hey /arg/, first time posting. I need your help.

So 3 years ago I bought myself my first gun (an AR). being no funz and completely retarded, I got a Bushmaster carbine length. I spent the next 2 years buying aftermarket parts trying to "fix" it (make it something I didn't truly want in my heart).

After lurking in /arg/s for awhile, I've decided to sell my first raifu and get a proper 20 inch. I've never sold a gun before and have 100% no fucking idea what I'm doing. I need advice on what the best way about selling it to get the largest return (or should I trade in? Can I even do that?) Note: I've only fired about 200 rounds through it. Battery on sight has only about 1 hour of use on it.

My cringy specs:
Bushmaster AR ($1050~, paid $950 on black friday for it)
Spitfire x3 prism $450
Geissele super gas block $58
Geissele mk4 rail $200
MAGPUL AFG1 foregrip $33.20
cheap poorfag aluminium offsight irons $22

Pic unfortunately related. How do I sell/get rid of this garbage and get an aesthetic 20"? Also, which parts (if any) should I keep?

Thanks
>>
Can you guys make your bolt slam home by collapsing your stock kinda hard? Just found out my AR does this but I don't think it should....

You're jostling the bolt carrier hard enough to unseat it momentarily from the bolt catch, which is then able to retract under its own spring tension.

yes. youre going to get maybe 50 cents on the dollar for what you paid if you resell. some parts are more desirable, a lot of what i see on your rifle are not those parts.
as far as 'what', you should browse the 20" picture thread on ar15.com. i realize a lot of guys dislike that forum but there are a shitload of pictures and ideas to wade through. its worth a look. find what you like and then research.

He's right you know.

Pmags are objectively worse that USGI mags in being mags.

Sure they are easier to grip but harder to fit in pouches, they have the dot matrix for paint pens and are far easier to take down, plus some of them have the window to see how many rounds are left but for those features you give up weight and longevity. I've had the spine crack in pmags with as few as six uses, didn't drop it at all.

Those with issues extracting mags should check the spine, it's probably cracked. That is how I noticed mine was cracked, mag didn't drop free.

One thing he didn't mention, pmags weight much more, 20% more, than USGI MAGS so for the weight of five pmags you could have sic USGI mags.

Purchased AR 15 pistol upper at fun show. Put it on pistol lower.

Without mag, BCG cycles "ok".
With PMAG, in, bolt star doesn't rotate and seat into barrel. Have to take mag out and charge to get bolt to seat correctly.
Tried bolt from my other AR ant it works flawlessly with and without mag inserted.

What's wrong with my pistol's BCG?

Wolf Gold is one of the best deals going for m193 right now.

I would also recommend getting a couple boxes of good bonded softpoints, either for HD or hunting or whatever. SGammo or Sportsman's Guide for Wolf Gold, PSA for either Speer Gold Dots or Federal LE barrier for the softpoints.

I don't know that much about Cali but from what I do know it feels better in some ways.

I'm from New Zealand and that is a good example of an AR15 that you can get on your basic licence.

I will get my E-cat and B-cat which let me own pistols and semi autos that are un cucked and they aren't terribly hard to get.

Still annoying but if you do want it you can get things.
