Who are you going to complain to that youre being mistreasted? The officer's even more retarded boss?

An older friend of mine told me that the modern military is very much full of toxic leadership, most people with a decent brain and sense of ambition do their 4 or maybe 8 years, get out, finish school or get a good job and move up.

The people who stay in are almost always worthless and wouldnt be able to hack it in the real world, these people become your boss, and promote people they like and force out the hard working competent people.

Yeah i did that too as a young SPC. Once i got a team i started to enjoy being able to raise dudes up with the right mentality to survive this shit. After that i decided to stick around.
>>
>>32419683
Worst part is that he wasn't even supposed to be my crew chief for deployment.

The crew I had been in since I had gotten to the fleet and trained to support the mortar squad and recon dudes got split up when some deployment sodget beat the breaks out of his wife, they had to even the crews out and I got put with a crew with a disgruntled alcoholic.

On a positive note, I spent more time with my grunts on patrols and shit and that crew chief got out and got addicted to crack and the dude who got dodged the deployment got kicked out and his wife took half his shit after he got kicked out.

This JRTC rotation this year was a shit show as well.

>Get told we are deploying, train hard for the past 6 months because of it
>One week before we leave to JRTC get told we are staying home as the rest of the battalion deploys
>JRTC now becomes a joke
>Our company ends up sitting at an airfield the entire time "the box" happens, so we don't even get any training fighting Geronimo
>End up staying two weeks longer to do details and load up everybody's shit as the rest of the battalion goes home

And to top it off

>On a Thursday, one day before we can finally get on the buses to go home
>Only to find out Friday, our glorious leadership lost the contract with the civilian charter bus company
>So instead of spending the weekend home relaxing with our families
we get to stay at Polk with the horses
>Sunday arrives and we finally get on a plane to come home on
>Get home Sunday night, only get Monday off and head right back into work on Tuesday

And that's not including all the people that got fucked up on the jump in, the fact that no one received separation pay, and also got their food allowance taken away because I guess the Army considers 3 meals a day of mostly MRE's acceptable

FUCK

18 year old's doing no research whatsoever and selling their youth away?

Yes. At least you know what a MOS is and at least you don't think you'll be shooting patriots at ISIS.

The others I met at MEPS were not so lucky.

The worst officers by far are West Pointers because they're told from day one at school that they're God's gift to the military and they're better than everyone else and all that.
So they get to their first unit as a brand new butter bar 2LT, with their heads completely up their ass, thinking they're hot shit.
Meanwhile you've got PFCs with more experience than them who know about how things need to be.
But brand new 2LT What'shisface, with his shiny West Point ring on his finger that he makes sure to make as visible as possible, decides he wants to do something, his E7 Platoon Sergeant with 15+ years of experience and multiple combat deployments tells him it's stupid and they're not going to do it, but the butter bar refuses to be told that he's not perfect and that his ideas are dumb makes everyone do it anyway. Rinse and repeat for their entire careers. Then they become XOs of a company and decide that right before closeout formation for the weekend he wants to do an inventory and layout, then he becomes a captain and is in charge of a company and then he's really untouchable and whatever he says goes, so he comes up with the dumbest shit ever for his soldiers to do, like stay in the field for weeks doing nothing, but god forbid a West Pointer be out there with the lowly enlisted the entire time. And then it just goes from there as he gets longer in the service.
West Pointers are trash. Pure fucking cancer to the service. The only good officers are prior enlisted and got out and came back in as an officer, those who did OCS, or those who did ROTC at some small college and didn't let it go to his head.

>>32419438
Sounds better than Lance Corporal. What the fuck does Lance even mean?
>>
>>32421567
West pointers are okay if the lower enlisted can get to them quick and corrupt them before they've had too long in power.

Thanks guys. That's legit wisdom, even if I don't understand it fully, I can appreciate the caution.
>>
>>32421594
The problem is they usually don't interact with lower enlisted much if at all. Most just sit in their office on their computer bullshitting with the PSG while the Joes are out doing layouts or some shit in the sun.

I was ARMY ARMY ARMY once....
>Be high-speed AD
>Go NG, be TL
>Get into pissing contest with NG PSG immediately over training
>Utterly shocked by the screaming idiocy and utter incompetency of this Stryker unit
>Get kicked over to vehicle section (this is apparently a fucking thing in the NG)
>PSG is shocked when he finds out that I'm already qualified to drive every variant of Stryker
>PSG shocked when I turn out to be one of (not THE, but one of, there's one NG VC better than me and dude is fucking boss) the best VCs in the Company
Bitch, I've got more time sleeping in a fucking Stryker downrange than you have drill days in the Army.
>spend next five years as a happy competent VC and actually enjoy drill. Keep my head down, follow boss VC's lead. All is well.
>Get new CO
>Get drafted to being new CO's VC
MFW_FML.gif
>New CO is enormous bag of shit
>3-day drill in the field with no ammo and no training schedule (admin weekend in the field)(WTF IS THAT)
>Return to home station
>1600, CO says to get in PTs
>Do PT, run, yeah, whatever
>PVTs who didn't bring PTs doing run in ACUs, its fucking 95 degrees out
>PVT numbskull falls out, whatever
>No medics, no supplies, no nothing
>CO proceeds to blame NG PVT for not being Ranger-qualified and properly hydrated
(Yeah, I know, EVERY SOLDIER SHOULD BE READY AT ALL TIMES TO DO SOLDIER THINGS, fuck you, this is the goddamned NG. We ain't that high-speed. Be fucking realistic.)
>Next drill, 3 days in the field, PT test on Sunday at 1500
>Next drill, 3 days in the field, broken rifle qualification range shared with 3 other units, able to get 3 shooters at a time, 50R target doesn't go down
>CO tells me to get the OE354 or whatever the fuck it was
>Talks to me like I know how to set it up or some such shit
>is 11B, not 25 whatever the fuck
>Condescending asshole to my face in front of privates
>Privates later ask why SGT Anon didn't just fucking eat CO
CONT.
>>
Being an NCO is the absolute worst thing ever. I got bosses above me tasking me with impossible shit to do on a Friday evening and told to have it done on Mon. If I need clarification they usually have left early for the weekend. Turn around to my troops and it's amazing some of them even learned to breathe.

It is, if my 35L packet goes through in the next couple of weeks i will definitely get promoted to e5. Im not even a shit bag. I just havnt got promoted because my unit is run by a infantry and nothing else command. Their mindset is, pogue? Fuck off you dont know leadership enough to be an nco. And im like, ive been filling an e6 slot for my ncoic position for over 3 years.

So get this, i reupped to get stationed in hawaii to do a 35P job, and they still ended up putting me in goddamn s2

>Getting tired of being polite to recruiters nowadays. Would much rather tell them eat shit, but I dont. Idk y
>>
>>32417928
Guard here with a similar failed PT test story. Whole unit knew I broke my forearm in a accident. Showed them the doctor's paperwork, x ray, surgery with a pin in place and didn't file it through guards medics so my cast happened to come off a month before the test. Failed it and then I took 2 months to finally pass. Didn't matter that technically I would have had 6 months of recovery if I was active duty.
Lesson is if you have real documented medical issues make sure to get a real profile.
