I wear Columbia Waterproof Redmond Trail Shoes. They're rad. I can wear them around town and look like I'm just wearing comfy sneakers (which is the norm where I live for everybody) and they work as good hiking shoes. I can even run in them with ease, since they're sort of aimed at trail runners. Definitely a good pick for a shoe. The men's color range also includes tacticool brown colors. I went with the women's, though, because they have the tacticool colors with cute purple and pink accents.

Yeah, but with big feet (W's size 12) so I often have to buy men's shoes. As for GQ shit, I wear a slick Beez carrier and carry subgun stuff on a belt I cobbled together from a Crye MRB, a 1.5" HSGI Cobra belt, and an HSGI velcro belt pad. Comfy as shit, and it conceals easily under a jacket.

>>32309800
A. I don't wear hard ceramic or metal plates, just soft armor. Rigid plates hurt there. You can look at the Tyr Tactical EPIC Female, but it's overpriced as shit and you'd need special proprietary plates for it. Honestly, the best thing for women is either a good belt rig or a chest rig that rides under your boobs, against the belly. If you must have armor (I have it mostly for fetish reasons, like most of my gear), go soft armor in a lightweight carrier and wear a good sports bra. Your wife is out of luck as far as carriers go, really. Just get her a good battle belt (and maybe padded suspenders like from Blue Force, if necessary).

Looking for something to hang a pistol holster, a double mag pouch, a water bottle holder along with some other stuff. Wanna be able to take it off and put it on fairly easy and fast. Was thinking of a battle belt with pals webbing but I'm not sure how well it will stay up on my waist. Might end up doing hiking with it on and want it to be comfortable for putting on miles.

It's a gym shoe bud, and an overpriced one at that, I got rid of mine and went back to Lalo and Chuck T's for the gym, comfy, but not the best out there. The sole won't really hold up to operatan, look at Salomon if you want lightweight.

If you're set on 5.11 the Ranger is a little more solid, but I'd still only get boots from them.

Tbh though putting the weight of your gear on your hips is pretty shitty and the only reason cops do it is because of the uniform, it's always more comfortable to put that weight on your chest and shoulders.

-Do you have any layering going on with the pants
>>

>-Why did you go with "plum" for the jacket
It's actually a darker Brown. More of a coffee color. Jackets a north face sift shell and I just happened to like that particular shade of brown. It only looks plum because of the shitty lighting. Pic related is a more accurate look at the color.
>-How doing earpro
I've got howard Leights electronic ear pro. Forgot to throw them on for the pic.
>-Do you have any layering going on with pants
i am actually looking into a decent layering material for my pants. Mentioned in the last thread that I had sweats on underneath and they weren't quite cutting it for night time operating. During the day I'm fine. Just at night my legs were a bit cold. Tested out in temps in the low 30s. I was fine for the most part although being a desertfag makes me a pussy when it comes to the cold.

Damn, is the jacket just shit or were you not layering? I mean under normal circumstances I'd probably be wearing a white t-shirt, button up shirt, and commando sweater/wooly pully/whatever you want to call it underneath.

And since someone always asks when I mention it, yes, commando sweaters are top tier... As isolation, they don't really do much against wind so wear something over them, even a really light windbreaker will do.
>>
>>32315498
Tacticool jackets aren't the be all end all in terms of durability. In fact most of the tactical clothing you see out there besides the expensive high end stuff is usually shit. While you say brands like north face and Columbia are leaning more towards fashion I tend to say the same thing about most of the tactical lines you see. The usually make the clothes look operator by adding a spot for a shoulder patch with Velcro and zippers everywhere. Meanwhile the civillian jackets will be just as good quality wise, if not better, while being cheaper and not making you look like a total autist.

You don't NEED to, 200 round SAW pouches can also carry 6 mags each which is probably more ammo than you'd ever care to carry.
If you want more carrying capacity you can rig a 6-mag bandoleer as chest rig or go with an ILBE.
>>
>>32317048

Every modern military which has to operate in arctic levels issues snow white outer.

Snow outers provide camouflage during movement in snow covered terrain and are designed to be nice and billowy so you can meld into snow banks and tundra easier.

Mine are 4 snaps to open and slide over all my gear for quick use. It's cool to look tactical and shit but if you had to cross any snowy terrain you'd look pretty dumb. Especially at night.

Where I'm from anyway. Maybe in Murrica or whatever all you get is like in your image where "snow" amounts to fuck all then hey excuse me man.

Lucky,

I have some pleb rothco BDU that I place over a lot of old issue stuff I kept form when I was enlisted.

The CF thermal shirts are really comfy, over top the BDU shirt I'll slide the inner shell from one of my arctic coats and then wrap myself in my white outter,

I was walking to meet a bud who was coming shooting with me and he didn't even see me until I waved. Snow is a little different to cam up on because the shadowing is different. Better to just kinda melt into. You'll see the Russians and the Finns do the same thing, situational of course.
>>

>HSGI pistol TACO
>2 HSGI extended pistol TACOs
>Blue Force Boo Boo Pouch (w/ cleaning kit and Leatherman)
>Blue Force 10 speed dump pouch
>ATS Small IFAK (the little tearaway one)
>TOPS Knives MIL-SPIE 3 nig-rigged to the MOLLE
>G-Code RTI battle belt adapter
>G-Code OSH holster
>Glo-Toob Amber Lithium (basically an orange electric chemlight for emergency signalling)
I carry a Beretta CX4 carbine and a 92 Compact for that mag compatibility. If, Heaven forbid, I need more than 90 rounds, I'd just get a Blue Force chest rig to throw on.

You are kind of making my point. See all the pull tabs, stress points, and the inside of the straps? Actually, I have no interest in being a jerk.

There. I just went to my gear bench, dug out my old AK pouch, and checked something for you. The patterned material is an outer layer over the heavier material underneath. If you have a piece of this gear laying around (web gear, not clothing) and want to prove me wrong/right, then pinch it.

I know it sounds weird, but just roll with me here. When you pinch the surface, you should get a small roll of material. Holding that, look at the other side. Seeing no pinch, your options open before you.

You could probably take pretty much any gear you wanted and add that pattern to it, honestly.
>>
>>32319151
That outer layer is still heavier than the material used for clothing.
>>
>>32319122
I've broken two TRS-25 optics in less than a year. I know you just want something to hold you over but just stick with irons until you can at least get a Primary Arms or Holosun.
>>
>>32319166
A fair point. I am just trying to give information. If surface abrasion is the big concern, cutting up old uniforms or shelter halves would probably be better than modern repros.

I guess that the next logical thing to consider is how heavily you intend to use such a creation.

I hope that if someone makes this that they post it. I think it would be interesting. The milsurp guys might get a kick out of it as well...or get all kinds of butthurt. Either way, it would be fun to show them.

EX arctic norfag here, still cold as shit though.
what you winterguys need is something like pic.
well, if its below 0C. a good wind/water resistant outer shell along the lines of goretex, and that netting thermo layer, you should be good to go down to -40-50C effective, when moving.

if you're not moving you need a good woolen midlayer, and possibly an extra heavier wool sweater. In the lower extreme temperatures you most likely need an insulating layer like >>32310723 and a jacket.

all of this exluding the outer and insulating layer can weigh as low as just over a kilogram.

protips, fleece a shit, wear wool. never wear too much clothing, change into more/less when needed and often. if you're wearing netting layer and outer shell, get the moisture out of the shell and netting before putting it back on with the mid layers.
most importantly, if its below -40 ish celsius, dont spend much time outside alone, unless you're body is used to it, or you spend most of your time in a sauna, you will most likely develop light frost injuries, you cant spot them on your face yourself,

Why? I think I wore my goggles less than half a dozen times in the military, and those were during no shit middle eastern "The Mummy" tier sandstorms. Prescription eyepro glasses are much lighter, better FOV, and more comfy.

As for the helmet and commo, any modern ballistic helmet will work. Even an ACH is fine, if not Gucci. With some aftermarket straps, it's quite a stable NOD platform. Get some Peltor Liberators or some Comtacs. I'd avoid Sordin but that's just based on personal experience.

THAT BEING SAID. Wore them on a hunt in Wyoming and every single fucking step I had cactus thorns coming through the side of it. If this isn't an issue for anywhere you ever intend on being, fine. Otherwise, stick with something that's full-grain leather to at least the top of the instep.

The best camouflage for northern Oregon up to the border of Alaska is CADPAT TW. Southern Oregon, the Okanagan, and Alaska should use MARPAT Woodland. Alaska and Montana each have bands that match these groupings as well. Much of the coastal PNW is simply far more green than brown.

depends, there are many things to look at

plate carrier vs chest rig

plate carriers are obviously good for protection and especially in urban areas where you believe youll go into combat. The negative aspect is the weight, it's not especially good for really long marches.

Chest rigs are good for long marches, but you'll have no plate protection.

One thing a lot of people do, is have a plate vest with nothing attached to it, and then slap a chest rig with everything molle'd on, over. It's a jack of all trades, as it offers the ability to drop the carrier, at any time, but also allows it to be used.

For camo it's very dependable on your area, or the area you plan to operate in. Again the reason you see a lot of people using multicam or similar is because it's a jack of all trades camo, not the best at each environment, but it works more or less for all environments.

battle belts or not.
Belt for extra carry can be useful. I like using a belt for when I'm using a plate carrier, because my carrier doesnt carry everything I want, and I'd rather have it around my hips. I dont use external belts for when I use chest rigs, because I have everything I need and want to stay as mobile as possible.

Helmet vs no helmet.
Helmets are mainly split into two categories. Ballistic and non ballistic, this is similar to the plate carrier vs chest rig. Ballistic is good for extra protection and the ability to mount hearing protection, lights, cameras, NVG's, etc.
Non ballistic offers all of that, but without the extra protection, they are usually lighter, and used for maritime operations, rappelling, etc.

No helmet means you wont have anything to mount on, but you'll be lighter. For CQB/urban operations, go with ballistic, if not, anything else will be fine ish.

For pouches on your carrier/rig, I usually go with 3 mags on my carrier(with 2 in my battle belt), or 8 for my chest rig. It's also recommended to have an IFAK(medical pouch) with essential gear.

Hey /k/, I finally decided I'll fork out the money for a plate carrier and I am undecided whether to get level III+ Dyneema plates (3lbs each) or level IV Ceramic ones (about double the weight) for it. I would go for CPE plates as they are the most affordable NIJ rated plates I can find around my parts.

Which protection level should I get? I know the whole "not get hit is better than tank a hit", but level IV is a guarantee against the worst case scenario.

Well anon, I bought Level IV ceramics that'll stop 6 M2 AP rounds before failing but they weigh about 7.5 pounds each. It's really dependent upon whether you want to be light and risk shit going completely sideways or learning to be maneuverable with the extra weight knowing your plates are gonna save you if you fuck up completely. It's basically a strength build vs dexterity build argument.
>>
>>32326119
How much do your plates weigh?

I bought a III+ Dyneema plate, it feels really light, the 3 lbs are distributed on a large object and it's fine. They are multi-hits capable and half the weight of ceramics. Although I don't know if they need trauma pads.

The costco one lacks one. Why they mention it being wind and water proof and not have a hood is beyond me.

Given that they cost the same and that they would need to be shipped here from Finland, I'll probably go for III+. I don't want to risk the Ceramics to be damaged during transportation (without factoring in the greater cost for shipping due to double the weight) and I'll probably not be standing around waiting for a .338 Lapua to hit me while in them.

One last chance to tell me I'm a dumb fuck before I press "go to checkout", /k/?

I have the far right bag.
I think I got from SportsMan's Guide.

Would be very operator friendly in rainy pacifi northwest ?

why would you not just put in the normal barrel for CCW and put the threaded barrel in the gun when youre going to LARP in the woods/range day with your silencer? It's not like you have the can in your back pocket just waiting to be threaded on while you draw down on someone with a hot chamber

aight so I'm wearing an lbt 6094 right now with a loaded d3cr attached to it and holy shit this thing is heavy. Should I
A. Get something to put on the back to balance it out
B. Ditch it because it is a retarded idea
C. lift more because it's not that heavy you are just a little bitch
???
>>
>>32327412
does it have plates?

yes, armor is heavy. Who'da thunk it right?
>>
>>32327430
Yeah I have level 4 plates in it. Never really was an issue but I guess the extra weight of the whole d3 setup kinda crossed the line in the sand.
More shoulder shrugs I guess.
>>
>>32327357
canadian law also prevents concealed carry for 99.9999999% of the populace so
>>
>>32327412
Make sure your 6094 is fitted correctly so that it is using the cummerbund to help support some of its own weight. It should hug you, not just sit near your body somewhere. This will not only make it feel less heavy on your shoulders, but also lessen the tendency for the front to sag down. If your flak is riding low it is often a pretty good indicator that it isn't adjusted properly.

If your flak is properly set up and you still can't support 15-20lbs of armor and 4-10lbs of ammo in that vest, you might need to scale down to just a chest rig or do more PT to ensure that you can. Not trying to be a dick, but that's not an extensive load. You're way under the golden line most people stick to for a rifleman's load bearing equipment (the US military and most other western forces believe a soldier should be carrying no more than 50lbs including rifle, though alternate sources also say no more than 25-33% of body weight, so adjust accordingly for your own situation). Hope this helps.
>>
>>32327626
that's extremely helpful actually the cummerbund is definitely a little loose. thanks senpai.
>>
>>32326497
I have a trim bush but I would say get the padded harness if you haven't already. Makes the whole rig so much better.

Any recommendations for lightly armed battle medic loadout?
>>
>>32328340
Do you want to carry your stuff on your chest, in a waist bag, shoulder bag, backpack?

How many people are you caring for?

What's your level of training? What is your previous experience?

How far are you planning to be from surgical care? How are you planning to extract people to surgical care?

In what sort of environment will you be operating?

Will you require SAR climbing and hang gear?

What injuries are foreseeable to you? Do they require a dedicated medic?

Anyone with the above knowledge could usually kind of figure it out on their own pretty easily, because they'll know what they need when and where and how much of it. So you not presenting that information makes me wonder why you're doing it?

If you don't need any PALS for MOLLE pouches, http://www.first-spear.com/product.php?productid=17660&cat=272&page=2

You can also get more modularity/later scalability by going with the pig brig:
http://www.skdtac.com/PIG-Brig-Plate-Carrier-SYSTEMA-p/pig.400.htm and adding SYSTEMA mag panels later.

If you do need the MOLLE compatibility, you're gonna need to increase your budget or wait for a sale to get past the quality hump. $160+ for the carrier is about normal to get into stuff not made in China by mongoloid hands.

AWS Operators Choice Plate Carrier is a US govt contract, American-made, high quality clone of the LBT 6094 for about $150 and shipping: http://www.awsin.com/proddetail.asp?prod=52813

If you aren't into that one for some reason, one of your other reputable options include http://www.skdtac.com/Paraclete-SOHPC-SKD-Spec-p/par.106.htm

The Patriot Plate Carrier isn't a bad option either, it's comparatively feature-light but it's made in America and stands up well. Either of these options might feel more comfortable with aftermarket shoulderpads, which run $15-30, but honestly that can be said of most plate carriers including very expensive options, so it's not a big concern so much as just good to know there's a solution readily available of you end up wanting it. http://www.skdtac.com/Shellback-Patriot-Plate-Carrier-p/shb.135.htm

Besides the general notion of FUCK HUMIDITY I really need a new coat to deal with this shit but I haven't had to buy one in basically ever since I've always had hand me downs from dad and grandpa since I was 15 or so. Take it from someone who lives in Indiana and also has to deal with midwestern winters: Don't cheap out on a good coat. Go into the nearest North Face outlet, and buy a nice parka. You'll be glad you did. Then, go buy a bomber hat or ushanka, and a good pair of gloves, if you don't already have one. And for when it's particularly freezing, get a pair of Under Armour leggings to wear under your jeans. They are amazing.

Are you fucking retarded? Wolves are a keystone species. Removing them and the grizzly bear from California fucked up the whole food chain and made it so sport hunting is absolutely necessary to keep the mule deer populations down. Yellowstone was getting wrecked by moose eating more than their share of forbs and ruining the habitats of other stuff. When you remove an entire species from its environment, you're fucking that environment up. They're there for a fucking reason. Do you have no understanding of ecology?
>>
>>32329847
Balance, my man. Much like prey species, predators need to be kept in check. Large wild canids have made an amazing comeback over the last few decades.

Take a deep breath. I don't think that anyone is looking to exterminate the things.

>Fuck coydogs, though
>>
>>32329921
Yeah, because of conservation programs, they're finally at the levels they should be in Yellowstone to keep everything in balance. This naturally upsets neighboring ranchers, but they just need to accept that they'll loose cattle every now and then. Our wild places are more important than a few cattle every season. Hell, removing whales from the oceans like we have removes the fecal food source of plankton that produce most of the oxygen on the planet. Freaking out over losing a few head of cattle when the fate of the entire Earth is at stake because keystone species are being killed off is like getting mad at someone for sneezing on you when you're running to the lifeboats on the Titanic.
>>
>>32330124

>>
>>32330017
The ecosystem will never be as it was before human intervention, and it was not static before we arrived. We can choose how we effect our world. Maintaining viable populations of as many species as possible is a part of that. Now, maybe I am reading you wrong, but you seem to be reacting to a call for wiping out a population. No one in the thread suggested that.

Conservation includes breeding and protective legislation as well as controlled hunting.
