>>32308743

Then buy pre-converted brass. It's cheap, and with subs you'll lose it long before you have to trim it.
Also, Palmetto Projectiles 203gr and H110 or lil'gun. Cheap bullets, low charge weights, cheap powder, brass life measured with multiple zeros (seriously, even with a brass catcher you'll lose it first).

>>32308795
Only two choices that the guys at Telluric Group will sell. ATPIAL-C and DBAL-D2
also how to setup your rifle to be more IR intuitive and a few tips and tricks for those who use NVGs
>>32308808
I use an ATPIAL-C for Illumination/IR laser. Red vis laser is a nice plus.
When using an IR light source; i.e. a V series scout light its good for scanning fields and long range type of work. But sucks complete dick for CQB. Simply put the IR flashlight is to high output for CQB and will wash your NVGs out. So having a low power option on your Laser box is optimal for covering all ranges.

Look at some threads on 300blktalk if you want to go super-heavy. Dolomite-Supafly is currently working on a 300gr cast bullet (literally almost too long to fit in an AR and probably too long to feed reliably), and he can still drive it 1300+fps.

>>32308782
>Also, Palmetto Projectiles 203gr and H110 or lil'gun
No no no no no
You will not keep a PP 203 gr cycling with those powders and staying subsonic. You need IMR 4227 or A1680. I know this because I tried.
>>32308558
yes 300 meme out is best caliber.
OK, so teach me, /k/. Do I absolutely need to get a vise mount and torque wrench when crenking down a barrel nut on an AR15, or is it something that can be done by hand and be "good enough"? this is going to be on a hobby AR used for sub-400 yard shots, it doesn't have to be some sub-MOA masterpiece.
>>32309473
I personally have used 4227, H110, W296, A1680, lil'gun, Alliant 410, 300MP, and H4198 with the PP 203gr. All have cycled. Then again, my gun is a 16" barrel with pistol gas.
PP specifically has load data for H110 and lil'gun under their "this works with most AR's" section.
>>32309506
Depends on whether you and your helper are strong enough, but you should be able to torque a barrel nut to at least 40 in-lbs by hand.
>>32309519
Show me your load data for lil'gun and your FPS, because I tried about 100 different rounds of varying loads and could not keep it subsonic and cycling. I am also using 16" barrel with pistol gas.
I use A1680 now with no problems and I can even make 150 gr bullets cycle subsonic.
Also what's your COAL for your PP 203 gr?
>>32309458

>>32309388

>>32309583

Okay.
>16" Shilen SS/button rifled barrel I made myself
>gas port drilled to 0.125" and adjustable gas block
>8.4gr Lil'gun, COAL 1.95", Wolf SRM primer, converted LC brass, PP 203gr, seated with RCBS small-base standard seating die, crimped quite strongly with Lee FCD
I found my accuracy went up with a stronger crimp, I'm nearly cutting through the powdercoat. No idea on velocity, but I get 100% reliability with LRBHO on whatever my gas block is dialed to (it's setscrew, not clicky).
That being said, I primarily load 4227 because it was all I could find for over a year and my .410 gets most of my lil'gun and H110. Also they seemed to be a bit more accurate with 4227 (best accuracy was with 1680 but that shit's hard to find, I think I only ever found 2 1lb cans of it instead of being able to routinely find 8lb jugs of 4227).
>>32309690
Well that's neat. I just couldn't get it to work at all until I switched powders.
I'm running a 1.910 COAL because I was running into neck sizing issues with the neck being too big for my barrel. My spreadsheet with my load data is on my work computer so I'll reply with that in the morning with my FPS and cycle yes/no for that power level.
I run 9.5 gr of A1680 (got 8lbs from midway a while back) and bounce between 950 and 1020 FPS.
>>32309731
Shitty. It's SUPPOSED to work, but .300blk seems to be kind of picky.
>buddy has one of the 10.5" AAC .300blk complete uppers with pistol gas, we played hell getting it to run with any load super or sub
Meanwhile if I play with my gas block enough I've gotten Red Dot and 125gr BT's to cycle at subsonic velocities with LRBHO. Damn those are quiet.

Yeah, if you can get it under 800
Mid length gas, actually decent stock furniture, well built, comes in a full case and not just a box. I work at a store and got a chance to handle a few and they're very well put together, and the quality control (staking, finish, fitment) was great on the 8 or 9 we had in stock.
Either that or get a Windham Weaponry desu senpai

I have a chance to get the new Gen II Viper PST 1-6 for dealer pricing. Anyone have any experience or knowledge on them? Youtube and google aren't turning up much.
>>32315150
Shit, i hate my m600p and wish i got the "u" instead

better than the fucking standard ribbed carbine handguard and a2 grip that every other rifle has.
I liked it better than magpuls stuff too.

Okeechobee hosts Glock and IDPA along with a bunch of other shit, I'm fucking excited to get into those along with a smaller range in Miami that hosts "combat handgun"

Considering selling my upper (w/ BCG and CH) to a friend, $680 seem fair?
I want to lighten this bitch up and do a 14.5" build.

I may be wrong, but I believe someone purporting to be teaching some tactical course was saying Viper was the only brand surviving and still holding zero , among the optics in that price category. He wasn't believed, of course. This was some months ago.

Gen 4 has a thinner grip/ multiple backstraps, better textured grip if you don't plan on modifying it and a metal guide rod if that's something you care about.
>>32315640
They both work fine
The pressure switch for my light broke while i was mounting it

I have a gen3 19 and had to get a different barrel because there was an imperfection in the chamber that caused malfunctions.
I got a gen4 19 for my grandmother and she likes it.
The only downside of the gen4 is the heavier trigger due to a very cheap and replacable bar on the trigger.
It sounds stupid, but the 17 is easier for me to conceal
I just like the 17 more in general
>>32315711
I found some black zip ties so i was going to replace the white ones with them
I didn't feel like going to find a pair of side cutters so I just used the nippers i had on hand, when i was cutting them off I couldn't see that the wire was in the other side of the teeth just enough to break it
>>32315609
how do you like the MRO?
considering it instead of the T-2, I've looked through one and I didn't really see much magnification, was blue though

I just slapped it together, I've been thinking about getting the direct mount from KAC but I'm not sure if I want to spend the 50 on it for aesthetics

Thank you very much but I'll replace it

Fortis Billet Upper: $220
Geissele MK4 15" Handguard: $275
FailZero EXO BCG: $160
Bear Creek Arsenal 16" Heavy Barrel: $97
Strike Industries ARCH-EL Charging Handle: $28
Yankee Hill Phantom FH: ~$20?

Opinions may be subjective, but modern Walters look like hot trash. Paddle release is nice but nothing can save its garbage aesthetics.
