sorry bud, you dun goofed. Only stock original apply to the C&R bit. Once you put a new production stock on you are fucked.

>>32296570
that 1911 would be legal, it falls under C&R.
>>
>>32297046
I dunno about that. The exceptions are called out by name specifically.
>>
>>32296570
Is this for real lol, can anyone explain the meme to me? Not well versed with gun laws.
What is legal, and illegal to own?
The pistol with the stock, illegal because it's a short barreled rifle right?
Why is middle not a pistol/rifle?
How is the bototm gun a pistol?
>>
>>32297267
The ATF's definition of pistol is "A weapon originally designed, made, and intended to fire a projectile (bullet) from one or more barrels when held in one hand, and having (a) a chamber(s) as an integral part(s) of, or permanently aligned with, the bore(s); and (b) a short stock designed to be gripped by one hand and at an angle to and extending below the line of the bore(s)."

Since the top one was originally designed and produced with a stock intended to be shouldered, it's considered a rifle, of the short barreled variety and would require a tax stamp, although that specific one probably falls under relaxed curio & relic standards.

The lower one is an AR-15 that meets the definition of pistol, thus it is a pistol. If you put a stock on it, it would be redefined as a short-barreled rifle and require a tax stamp, but that's not a stock, it's an "arm brace."

The glock with the foregrip isn't a pistol because part of the definition of a pistol is "intended to be gripped with one hand." Since it also doesn't meet the definition of a rifle, it's considered "Any Other Weapon", and requires a different sort of tax stamp.

Yes, the ATF is autistic.
>>
Shit OP, it's almost like you want your dog to be shot
>>
>>32297267
It's real amigo
>the "any other weapon" or AOW and the short barreled rifle require registration and a 200 tax stamp. The "handgun" is just as legal as any other handgun
>Yep
>The foregrip classfies it as an AOW, don't ask why, there is no logical reasoning
>Nonsensical bullshit gun laws. Essentially, it's designed to be fired with one hand and the "stock" is designed for you to put your arm through and strap to your wrist instead of shouldering it

>>32296570
Apparently it being old enough stops it from being illegal to operate. No stamp required for this guy.
>>
>>32297471
>>32297451
Wait so the bottom.... its a "yeah lol totally a handgun ;)" made by the manufacturers right? You can use that thing as a stock,, and for all practical purposes, is it a carbine?
>>
>>32297523
Well, it was probably built from parts by a private citizen as a "pistol".

And yeah, those things are shoulderable. BUT, let's say you're down at the range, and you just decide "fuck it, imma shoulder it." And lets say that the guy in the other lane is an ATF agent and you didn't know it. You will be asked to produce evidence that you paid for the tax stamp, and if you can't produce it you will be charged with a felony. Yes, really.

>>32297589
To add on, pic related is a Serbu Super Shorty, essentially a shortened Moss 500 with a pistol grip. It was produced with a pistol grip from the factory, so it's considered an "Any Other Weapon", and it's allowed to be that short because it's not a rifle, it's "Any Other Weapon." The important part is that it came from the factory that way, so you can transfer it for $5, nothing illegal about it.

BUT, if you decided to put a pistol grip and chop the barrel off your bog-standard Mossberg 500, and you didn't play the expensive months long waiting game with the ATF to secure the proper licenses to do so, you've committed like, 4 felonies.
>>
>>32297671
so buying this, needs a $200 tax stamp?
and you are in ATF database?
>>
>>32297703
Registering it initially is $200, the manufacturer does that and adds it to the total price. Then transferring is $5 + huge wait for ATF paperwork + having your info stored. Only AOWs have $5 transfers though, other stuff is $200 for initial registration and every transfer

Honestly, though, I'm not sure why Ruger never made a carbine version of it like Browning does with the Buckmark.

Beretta also makes a Neos carbine, now that I think about it.

Autosear for a glock. Im not sure if ot works for all or only certain generations. Id assume all but ive been wrong before.

>>32297589
I thought you were good to go if you shouldered a brace because it wasnt "designed" to be shouldered. Or did someone fuck that up for everyone.
I get its illegal and haha atf meme but when did we get so many scared bootlickers? We used to have threads with proof about improvised explosives, as long as OP takes it to the middle of nowhere to shoot theres no problem. Its only illegal if you get caught.
Looks like a pretty simple design OP, how comfortable is it

>>32300416
Why would you want a plastic auto sear? I was just telling that anon what the schematics are for. Thinking about it, that should work for any gen glock. Internally they havent changed much except the dual recoil springs in gen 4 and those have nothing to do with the firing mechanism. Il do more research and get back to you guys.

Guy who grew up in his family's injection molding shop here, they're really expensive to make initially. If it's for production, then you're golden, but if you're not ordering large batches of parts then it isn't cost-effective in the short run.
I can remember every separate noise the machine used to make, and I would sit there with my dad or grandfather running the machine, picking out the parts from the catch box and separating the sprue from the part. I miss those days.

Prototyping/small batch for the most part. But it is also used for situations where the geometry is too complex to machine. For instance, additive manufacturing is being used a lot for propellers, impellers, heatsinks, rocket nozzles, etc.

Remember: When you machine something, the tool has to be able to enter and exit the part. Additive manufacturing allows for geometries that are otherwise impossible.

>>32307611

Making the jigs, programming the part, etc take a lot longer, for sure.

bullshit, they use other methods like casting or forging. You don't need to machine everything or have every surface of the design made by a tool.
>>

>>
>>32310517

This guy beat me to it: >>32310592

Yeah, you'll often cast/forge a blank, but if you want any real geometrical accuracy or a good surface finish, you'll need to machine it.

Hell, a lot of machine tools are actually made with giant blocks of cast iron as the base. They cast it, let it sit for a long enough time for the stresses in the cast to relax and then they'll machine very precise features into it to fit the working components.

I've been in the general manufacturing industry for years, mostly manual and CNC milling machines/lathes.

On this series of posts and other posts linked to it, I have to say it's often a little more complicated than that. There's more to it when deciding what manufacturing process to choose, and it can often be more about how competent you/the person/ the people involved are, and when you aren't/don't have access to competent people, 3D printing can become more attractive.
