let me ask you, my car misfires when i floor it and go over 5,500rpm and i have to restart it to get rid of the restart.
now, when i restart it, i can floor it up to 3rd gear and it won't misfire but after that, if i go above 5,500 it will misfire.

restarting gives me one free pass and the misfires are almost never in first gear.

If you really have it narrowed to a specific cylinder I wouldn't think vvt would affect it, more than likely the ignition coil is failing after a short period of operation under heavy load.

Get the ecm checked though, ignition coil drivers can burn out or get weak causing the same symptom. Flyback voltage or an internal short in a coil can kill ecms, check your shit out with a multimeter.

the old wiring harness is known for burning the ecu, i got the car with the harness already replaced but not the ecu.

i did once disablr a computer under the passenger seat which shut off the vvt and i could rev it to 7k all day in all gears with zero problems but the car was slow.

i definitely need to get the ecu checked along with all the wires. guess i better start setting aside money for that and speeding tickets if i get it fixed.

That would make sense, if it's reducing the duty cycle of the ignition coils. Big if.

Another thing, substantial carbon buildup can create hotspots resulting in pre ignition. Its REALLY uncommon to see, but there is that possibility considering the mileage.

Wiring check first, do a voltage drop test across that specific wiring to the coil to see if it's fucked.

If you have a friend with a borescope, that would be handy.
