I actually am saving up a down payment right now. I'm going to get a 2012-2014 Silveraydo with 4WD and a full crew cab. I plan on towing once in a blue moon, and actually needing 4WD nearly never, but I figured if I'm getting a truck I may as well get 4WD.

I guess you could say it's a lifestyle choice, but I actually would use it for truck stuff. I don't want to have to worry about not being able to take things home or whatever.

Only concerns are the Chevy Shake on the new truck platform. Was almost concerned about the transmission but decided it was probably a non issue. And that the cylinder deactivation on the new EcoTec engines may lead to some fuckery. But supposedly they used cylinder deactivation on the late model Vortecs and it worked fine, so I'm not too worried. I plan on driving it to 300K miles or more if I take care of it well.

The chevy shake? That's a new one to me. Sounds like customers forgot they bought a fucking utility vehicle.

The cylinder deactivation is fine, we have a few older vortecs that have that and they are well past 200k.

Be ready to buy leafsprings if you use them for towing or driving offroad, they break leafs like crazy. Or at least we do.

Transmissions are gtg, service them and they will last to at least 230k.

Likely to pick up a dillo dust QD manfrotto adapter, I wanted to see if I could nagger rip something up. I totally didnt freehand the drill holes straight, and the blackhawk bipod adapter doesnt grip rails well, but its a $15 adapter and I can use the manfrotto plate on another camera.

The springs aren't much fun to change, but it's doable in a couple hours with basic tools. The hitch and tank have to be dropped to access some of the hardware.

They went broke, remember? These are by far the worst trucks they've built in the last 20 years. The spring issue just scratches the surface. Door hinges, throttle bodies, front hub assemblies, instrument clusters and radios are all failure points as well, among many other nuisance repairs.

We have 6 of these generation pickups, I would personally skip over them completely.
