>Rona Ambrose won't be the new CPC leader

We're fucked next election cause Trudeau is getting in again

Atleast Ontario might go Conservative next provincial god help us all
>>
>>32242049
All we can hope for with the current government is Trudeau saying something that has people extremely conflicted again like the Castro thing.
I asked some pro-Trudeau friends what they thought about it and they were disgusted from his take on it. We need more of these to get people to go "You know what? I prefer ____ over the Liberal government this election."

It can happen. It really can. The more retarded things he does to make his own followers question him, the better.
>>
>>32242072
I just like Ambrose because she's an attractive mom type who appeals to the people who want the best for their family.

Trudeau is charismatic and likeable - it's only once he gets into politics that we hate him. And by we I don't mean just Conservatives. Like you said, the Castro thing rocked the boat. It's not the only thing he's done. I know a few lefties who got their feathered ruffled over Fort Mac.

The thing is it won't be enough to lose him a second term. We are either going to get some old white dude conservative who is frankly fucking boring to watch and boring to listen to because he just follows CPC Doctrine, or we will get Kevin O'Leary who isn't as decisively liked as Trump was in the States so he won't win.

Rona Ambrose is the only dank CPC candidate because she's a fucking machine that nails the Liberal party and you like her for doing it.

And she's kinda hot. The perfect counter to Trudeau.
>>
>>32242096
>Kevin O'Leary

He's probably going Provincial. I'll take him over Wynne any day.

>Rona Ambrose

Can she speak French?

Because right now, I'm basically seeing two candidates worth a damn. Maxime Bernier and Steven Blaney.

>Rona Ambrose's French-language skills defended by Quebec MP

>>
>>32242126
And on him going Provincial he would have to dethrone Patrick Brown and that's not happening my dude. Brown is racking up some nice juicy points in Parliament right now with his upside down bridge meme, and all Wynne has done is refuse to answer direct yes or no questions.

I wouldn't be so sure, Trudeau is already pissing off his supporters with his updated stance on weed and electoral reform.
>>
>>32242631
Well he promised electoral reform when the polls showed he might win a minority government.

Now he has supreme dictator powers. So he doesn't have to abide to the public interest. I'll be surprised as hell if he carries through on that.
>>
>>32242049
>PC Party
>Conservative

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA Yeah no. Enjoy the same shit as before with slightly less NDP tier shit.
>>
>>32242681
Harper did some good things as PM, and did make some improvements to the gun control system. So if guns are your #1 ballot issue I can kind of understand the rose tinted glasses about the conservatives, but in every other way he was a globalist fuckup. Got Canada into TPP, retooled the TFW program to insource higher paying jobs instead of just abolishing it and the list goes on and on.
>>
>>32242715

His handling of the financial crisis worked out pretty well for us. Instead of just giving the banks money, he purchased debt from them so they would have liquidity, but the debt would still give a return.

>>32243730
He roped a lot of swing voters with a lot of promises. The most popular promise being electoral reform.

Had he won a minority government he would probably already be working on it. But as is the tradition; doesn't matter what party you are, if you win a majority government in Canada you become a turbo-globalist asshole.
>>
>>32243798
did people even know what he meant by electoral reform?

they want to use a stupid ranked system where you have your first, second, third etc. picks of who you want to be prime minister

they've also discussed lowering the voting age which is retarded, as well as online voting, which is retarded too

why would anyone vote for him for these reasons?
>>
>>32243818
Of course they'd want the ranked system, because it would guarantee a liberal gov't for forever.
>>
>>32243818
Don't just assume that people can't easily be swayed by buzzwords without feeling the need to investigate further.

Next to nothing. It's pandering to the feminist "violence against women" crowd despite the fact that the majority of violence is visited upon men. Couple that with law enforcement officials, who are unfortunately incredibly authoritarian and anti-liberty in this country, and public health officials who will attempt to advocate against gun ownership to prevent "epidemic" violence, and you have designed a committee that seems legitimate but is actually designed to be a left-wing echo chamber.

Any vancouver area anons here? I'm looking for a range to go to but I don't know which ones are decent
>>
>>32246651
i am

what type of shooting are you into?
>>
>>32246682
Preferably somewhere I can shoot centerfire rifles but I think all the nearby ranges are all indoors

Handgun as well, really I just want to put holes in paper. Used to having a 100 yard range I could go to on vancouver island
>>
>>32246738
There's only one long distance outdoor range that goes out to 300 in poco

It's super crowded, and has half hour target change times

There's only two indoor ranges, one in langley and one also in POCO

The poco range is handgun only the langley range you can shoot anything and is 30~ meters

Pretty much all the other ranges are shotgun only, and occasionally shotgun/handgun

So yeah, you're basically fucked if you want a convenient 100 yard range

Oh, and that 300 yard range in poco will probably be shut down within 5 years

You're better off driving out to the woods if you want to shoot long range rifles
>>
>>32246785
Thanks anon. Looks like the Langley range will be my go to. Also considered the semiahmoo range since it's around 10 minutes away for driving but the range itself seems pretty awful.

To be honest, the optics on the m305 and zastava were around $2300. I know that because he bought them with me by his side (he bought them online). So I feel like its a fair price. I will break it down for you:
>10/22 - $450 (with a scope, bull barrel and a new synthetic stock)
>SKS - $170
>Zastava M85 - $650 (with a scope)
>Norinco M305 - $1100 ( with a vortex scope)
> Mossberg 590a1 - $600

All guns are in a very good condition, and fire graciously. I know that because he took me to a gun range a few times and he has an OCD on cleaning his guns.

I like it. I prefer having the optic on the carry handle so I can use a chin weld instead of a cheek weld, since I'm left handed it keeps the brass out of my face. Also prefer the aesthetic of optics on carry handles.

The optic being that far above the bore meant it took a bit longer to sight in but it works great now.

Besides, given what a FTU t97 costs, it cost me less for the rifle, rail, sling, spare mags and optic that it would have for just the FTU rifle

Well it's admittedly a massive long shot, but if the Hearing Protection Act did magically pass in Trumpland then suppressors might just find their way back into legitimacy, which is where they sat back in the 1920's. I hate loud noises. Painful. Quiet guns are amazing.
>>
>>32250494
Why would the people that want a police state be pro gun?
>>
>>32248253

There are quite a few errors in that drawing...

The section arrows are pointing the wrong way, the 21 degree chamfer isn't properly dimensioned, the .010 x 45 degree chamfer has the arrow going through the part in-line with the hash lines, chain dimensioning... Lots of small dimension problems all over the place that really harm legibility.

Bet you the model is filled with blue lines, too.

Suppressors are the BEST form of hearing protection for firearms. They can reduce the volume by over 40 decibels for everyone in the area, not just the person wearing the hearing protection.

You can build a reasonable quality one for 20 bucks, man.
>>
>>32252200
Indeed, the average commercial suppressor in the UK where they are legal to use costs about $100. In much of Europe they're even less, as cheap as $20 or $30 in France for a mediocre one you'd find in a bin at a sporting goods store. Easy availability, as in lack of a silly old Depression-era anti-poaching ATF tax like the US charges, equates with cheap but effective models becoming available.

>>32251157
Drafter anon strikes again...

And you mean drawing not model right?

Anyone seen that nerd vi2 recently?
>>
>>32252622

Guilty as charged.

If you're talking about the "blue lines" comment, I did in fact mean model.

That drawing looks like it was made using SolidWorks. In SW, you make a model by creating sketches on planes and then using those sketches to create features of the model. These sketches need to be "defined". Think "This center of this line is coincident with the origin, is horizontal and a length of X. This arc is tangent to the end of the line, has a radius of Y and is tangent to this other line that goes out at Z degrees...". As you add dimensions and relations (parallel, tangent, coincident, symmetrical, perpendicular, etc), the computer knows where it is. Once the line, arc or point on the sketch cannot be located anywhere else than that specific location in that specific orientation and at that scale, then it turns from blue to black.

A model that has even a single undefined sketch isn't complete. If you handed me a drawing like that to QC, I'd send it back right away.

I've had 2 and they've both been reliable and feel solidly built. The internals are basically an AK with a short stroke piston and linear hammer. It's pretty rugged.

The sights are a little funky in that the front post drifts back and forth inside the hood, making it off center. Your eye doesn't know if it wants to center the hood, or the post. But I found either will give you the same point of impact.
>>

Can you fix that drawing for me? I intend on making a few of these and didnt know it was all fucked
>>
>>32246510
Although this year, it seems the Polytech bunch spoke less about guns. It seems that whole "rape culture" thing might be helping us after all.
>>
>>32255413

Eh, sure. Wouldn't be the first drawing that was posted on here that I fix. There are a couple small design things I'd suggest changing, though. The fillet into a chamfer near the threaded portion is really wonky and the threaded portion should have an unthreaded area past it so the tool has room to do the thread cycle. I'd honestly just have it threaded as deep as the large cavity you mill from the side.

If there are any features or dimensions you're married to, point them out now or forever hold your peace (or is "piece" more appropriate here?).
>>
>>32255593

That is assuming that you do the threading using the lathe. You could do the threading as a separate process, but I don't see why you would.

The fact that the Tories keep giving us weak hand-jobs for pro-gun legislation is hardly enough reason to vote for them on that alone.

I'll give them the financial crisis I suppose, but that was more because Flaherty was a financial genius, than anything Harper did. And putting money out there for people to get an education, so they can get back into the work force, was another thing that I will always compliment the Harper government on. But if you can't seriously hold up C-42 as some sort of great thing and an all-consuming reason to vote for them. Especially when the Liberals have once again done fuck all so far.

Which is?

>>32243818
>>32244013
Believe me, plenty of people understood the electoral reform issue, that's why we're pissed. It wasn't all buzzwords or flimsily laid out ideas. Weighted voting, as well as representational voting (ie: percentage of votes = percentage of mps) both have their merits and flaws, like Past the Post, and are both likely to have the effect of empowering 'minor' parties like the Libertarians, as well as Independents, and may increase voter turnout if people believe their vote 'counts more' than it does under the current system.

>>32243845
And don't you want a ranked or percentage based system? Because you know the Tories only ever get a majority because of tricky math from the vote being split between NDP and Liberals? Frankly you're no better than the Liberals skipping out on electoral reform, with your complaining. We could go with a system that better represents The Canadian voter's interests, but it's bad because it specifically disadvantages your preferred party (like it would the Liberals). This divisive shit is why we can't get shit done in this country, and why the US has been having trouble for fucking years longer than we have.

I know a lot of liberals. Every time the topic of gun control gets brought up, I point out that the Ruger Mini-14 is still nonrestricted even though it was used in the Ecole Polytechnique massacre. Can someone explain the logic behind magazine restrictions?

Why would a spree shooter care about the additional charge of owning prohibited devices (unpinning his mags) when he's about to commit multiple accounts of first degree murder and probably suicide by cop?

It's not a deterrent at all since magazines are easy to unpin, and a mass shooter simply would not care about breaking the law. Did nobody sit down and think about this.
>>
>>32263757
In its current form, there is no logic at all. If they are operating under the assumption that a semi-automatic firearm holding more than 5+1 rounds represents a serious potential threat to the public, then it makes no sense for them to allow the continued manufacture and import of magazines which can easily be unpinned to hold more than 5 rounds.
>>
I don't think such a rule is about the classic mass shooter, who prepares his weird plan and doesn't much care about legalities. No, I think it's about two other things. Mostly it's a public relations deal, appeasing voters with reassurances that the government is doing something to protect them. Then to a lesser degree I suspect it's about protecting cops themselves. Limiting volume of fire on most guns is going to come in handy for unplanned situations, like the crazy-drunk bastard who's beaten his wife to death and wants to go out in a blaze of glory. That guy has a large capacity mag or ten, hell, he's gonna kill a bunch of cops. But restrict him to 5 shots per mag and you've effectively limited his ability to do damage. He'll probably fumble his mag swaps and give a police shooter ample time to take him down. It's useful in keeping impromptu shooter's body counts to a minimum.
>>
>>32263850
>Take 5/30 round magazine

>???

>>
>>32263984
This. Magazine restrictions are a moronic idea and do absolute jack shit in stopping a criminal from doing criminal things.
>>
>>32264020
And the law against suppressors does absolutely nothing to prevent criminals from using them for stealthy assassinations ... only, um, criminals don't seem mu h interested in stealth, at least in terms of noise. The gangsters around the Lower Mainland don't seem to give a toss about shooting up each other's cars, no silencers needed. So who is that law protecting?

Canadian army Infantry fag here

It's voluntary and anyone can try to join. To apply for sof you generally need a few years experience. You submit a memo to your chain of command, and they push it up higher to get approved.

Technically they are obligated to forward it to cansof, but often times these memos are groundlessly denied or "lost"

Higher doesn't want to lose good trained guys, with our manning being low as is

Depends. Can you walk carrying say, 70-80 pounds on your back for 15 km?

its just what we call a "gut check" , are you tough enough to endure the gayness/pain

all the fitness stuff so long as you dont quit youre good. the only real challenging parts are carrying weight over distances and in the field, sometimes running imo
>>
>>32265988
>>32266012
>>32266020

in the canadian army the swim test is to jump off a diving tower properly and emerge properly to simulate clearing debris/wreckage, then tread water - all in combats. its not super challenging. its not a requirement but basic, but is for certain courses, IE; if you want to do basic reconnaissance patrolman, you gotta be able to pass - and if you want to go SOF, you have to be a very competent swimmer, because many people drown during selection (and are brought back by divers/staff)

I did a lot of pool PT in basic, some of it super gay so idk what these guys are talking about

>>32266593
New dewats are totally welded and shit, for an ak the trigger is destroyed and welded, the chamber is plugged by welding steel harder than the barrel the n has holes drilled, the bolt is cut and pin channel welded, then weled to the carrier which is then welded in place, the magazine is even deactivated by removing the spring and welding the follower and base plate then welding the mag into the gun. If you get a marstar dewat only the barrel is plugged, and the carrier is weld with a 3 tack welds with one holding the hammer to the bolt so theoretically you can do what skeletor did and get it running again and call it a 5.45 valmet

First and most obvious is the straight reciever, valmets have a slanted receiver forward of the mag well, you cant change that, second is the mark for the selector(see pic related) right where the full auto position would be the scratch from the selector magically disappears and has the same color as the metal next to it, either he for some reason pulls the selector away from the reciever in that exact spot when he moves it, or he used the color picker in ms paint, took the reciever color right next to it and edited it out, ill give him the benifit of doubt though, third is the rivets, theyre not the same kind or in the right place, didnt he remove the old ones, fill in the holes, redrill and re rivet? Again giving benifit of doubt. He also posted thw "valmet stamp" which was in the wrong place, wrong font, didnt say the caliber, etc.

The anti-gun groups (read: Wendy Cuckier + some random Quebecois Communists) masquerade as women's rights groups to make themselves harder to criticize. Their grandstanding takes away money from actual women's shelters and anti-poverty initiatives.

Feinstein has said a lot of evil, liberty reducing shit, and not just about firearms; quite a bit of it is about reducing freedom of speech. Though she went on record during a 60 minutes interview and stated that if she had been able to get the votes, she would have banned all firearms. "Mr. & Mrs. America...turn them all in".

Fuck i just noticed that VKBO*** fuck pic related, its russias current all season clothing system, for -40 weather with higj windchill/snow etc, you have to wear all 8 layers, sounds bulky but its suprisingly light, for weather like say, England/northern Ireland, wind rain, 0+ degree weather, up to level 5 or 6 perfect

Is it a new model? I bought an old model for 550$ off my buddy and lots went wrong. Didn't care because lol550bux and I like to tinker, but I wouldn't recommend them with stuff like S&W AR-15s that are around for about the same money.
>>
>>32274862
there is a "new gen" but I still don't know how reliable they actually are,I'll probably be swapping out quite a few parts so I didn't really want to pay too much for it unless it came with said parts, and from looking around it's a bit of a struggle to find a s&w in stock. What was the issue with yours? easy fix?
>>
>>32274939
Here's the story so far.

>7.5" 5.56 model
>horribly overgassed, gas port must be prolapsed anus large
>gas block exploded
made a new one on my break (machinist)
>still overgassed
>gas key coming loose
staked it, it was very lightly staked (not enough) from the factory
>2 out of 3 bolt gas rings consumed by BCG (shit just got eaten and fell out like little slivers)
replaced gas rings
>overgassing intensifies with new gas rings
>overgassed so hard it would outrun the magazine even with H3 buffer
>disconnector broke
replaced disconnector
>gas key coming loose again
stake the everloving fuck out of it
removed gas rings entirely
put in regular buffer
>rifle cycles ok with no gas rings and regular buffer
>hammer pin broke
made new hammer pin during another break
>handguard gets a little out of position no matter how tight and loctited it is

I guess it runs ok now.

if I wasn't lazy I'd just add an adjustment screw in the gas block to throttle gas so it would run with gas rings normally

With the light reciprocating mass of the regular buffer and no gas rings, it does cycle very comfortably.

It always makes people smile with that ridiculous muzzle brake I made, the flash and blast is tremendous.

I'm looking to get into 3 gun eventually. Been debating on whether I should spend $1000 on a standard ar and upgrade and customize as I go or just spend $2000 on a DD v7 pro,v11 pro or similar. It just bothers me to spend that much money on something up front. I am also a tinkerer, I'll probably end up fucking with the DD as well.
>>
>>32275157
Also not too worried about the budget, but I don't want to overspend. Kinda cheap
>>
>>32275157
>>32275175

Canada is weird for ARs. Everything is more expensive, it's hard to find common models in the states, and just getting parts to build your own can be more a headache than anything.

Like I want a rifle length gas tube for another thing I'm making and so far I've found one place that sells it for 25 bucks+shipping, but at this point I'm not sure if it'll be cheaper with brownells at 13 bucks US+shipping.

If we were a while ago I'd recommend the wolverine supplies one that went for 1599, that was a good rifle at a good price. If you can find an AR from a reputable make like BCM, DD, Colt, LMT, and so on, it'll probably be good enough for a long time. If you're gonna buy cheap to tinker with, go with anything that's super cheap, hawk around the EE on CNG for anything that's cheap as fuck even if it's in poor condition or whatever. You're gonna strip it anyway. Chinese rifles are cheap but I've heard some parts don't fit between the Chinese ARs and the regular stuff, but I have no experience with that personally.

They also mentioned they're working on it in one of those fearmongering articles released for Dec 6th.

Few questions:

I have an 8.5" Grizzly coming in the mail soon. Anyone have experience with the 8.5'? And what are some good upgrades for it? I definitely want a side saddle, so who sells some good velcro saddles here in Canada?

Anyone have any experience with Saskatoon Gunworks? Good online service, or should I avoid them?

And how is the finish on the FDE CSA VZ 58's? I've been wanting a 5.56 VZ for a while, and the FDE versions seem to be easier to get. Only problem is it looks a bit cheesy. I'll probably rattle-can it with some laundry bag anyway...

I had tomorrow planned as a range day for a while, sadly I had to lend my brother in law my car for the next week or so since his car is fucked until his next paycheck and he doesn't have access to public transportation.

Anyhow, theoretically speaking, how fucked would I be if I got caught with a restricted handgun or two (following all transportation rules of course, in a case, trigger locked etc) on public transport? Range is like a 15-20 min bus ride.
Would that even be illegal?
>>
>>32279144
Unless there's a bylaw or carrier rule against it perfectly fine to use public transport to the rnage.
Make sure to trigger lock and put the case in a backpack.
>>
>>32279169
Ottawa. I googled for a while before posting but I couldn't really find anything about OC Transpo rules on firearms (or transport restrictions in general), so that's why I'm hesitant to do go.

>>32279043
Pistol grips are fucking amazing on the 8.5" one, inb4 illegal, just put on when your at the range or whatever, and take it off when you leave, even then you have 30 days to tell the cfo you changed it to reatriced length. I still have my pistol grip but traded the gun for some ammo, kinda miss it, it was like 12ga pistol, with slugs at night you can light up a fairly large area with just the light from the muzzle flash and it handled really good with the pistol grip
