I'm curious about wether or not a 3-day meet would be too long, and if people would simply prefer an overnighter.

Some guy was in the last thread saying he knew where lots of crown land was in manitoba? Are you still in here?
>>
That might have been me saying that I'm aware that the province has lots of crown land. But I haven't actually gone and poured through the land usage maps yet. So I would be the wrong person to ask where specifically to go.
>>
anyone know if Burlington Rifle & Revolver Club takes non-members?
>>
>>32198154
Just drive outside Winnipeg for half an hour and go to any abandoned gravel quarry. Theres a million them.

Its not like this province has any sort of economic development where you will stumble upon private property.
>>
>>32198260
I currently only know about one way out at my families cabin, and one way the fuck out the east side of the city, i live on the west side, do you know any out that way?
>>
What somebody really needs to do in Manitoba is take a map of the province, shade in all the gun-friendly municipalities and put a big smiley face on them. I would pay at least 5 dollars for that map.
>>
>>32198171
Where do you get said maps? I cant find anywhere online i would even pay for them if there was a store to buy them at? i see some hunting area maps put up by the government but that's it.
>>
>>32198395
http://www.gov.mb.ca/sd/wildlife/hunting/maps/index.html

But then obviously you want to chase down maps for all of the individual districts to make sure you aren't accidentally encroaching on private property, etc.

As far as I can tell the east is always going to be your best bet. West is just too developed. Although in the spring you could probably find somebody who owns farm land willing to let you shoot rabbits on their property.
>>
http://www.gov.mb.ca/sd/wildlife/hunting/pdfs/whiteshellnohuntingmap2014.pdf

Like if you look at the whiteshell map here, most of it is hunting friendly. The problem being that the terrain in the whiteshell is fairly challenging. Any direction you go that's not developed is pretty heavy cover. Walking 300m from the highway there is no trivial matter.

This isn't Deus Ex. Bionic eyes are still a ways off. Right now, the best we have are eye implants and those only work for some diseases, require your nerve to be intact, aren't exactly compact and barely give you any vision at all.

I decided to track down the source of this quote, so I could find the full context of it, since I figured it was about international diplomacy, or something.

What I found was very interesting. I can't find any source for the quote at all. Meaning he likely didn't say it and the meme we constantly see is made up bullshit.

from the media and anyone who takes their propaganda as gospel, definitely more hostile.

they'll take every opportunity to fear monger after the occasional "mass" shooting in the US. Liberal politicians want to say they're being tough on crime when they persecute law abiding licensed gun owners. Almost none of these anti-gun people know the laws behind legal gun ownership.

I'm okay with licensing/a safety course, just so that there's some barrier to entry and not every idiot can own a gun, but gun control is a failure.

there's alot more info on the practicality of firearms and the ease of use and almost ease of ownership, boards like this and especially threads like this are a huge help as well, learning that gun owners aren't all psychotic rednecks or jacked up roid monkey super cop nazi paramilitary types or paranoid liberal cucks that are likely to blow of their own feet is a godsend...it's nice to have open honest dialogue without (much) politics especially when you're trying to learn about a new sport/hobby also the fact that the firearms community in canada is both mostly closeknit and family oriented but still open to anyone with 200+ bucks and a desire to make something go bang is great it's nice to have stable people you can trust that own guns and the fact that its also self regulated and people here hate idiots that fuck everything up for everyone else is a huge bonus as well because we police ourselves so theres no need for the rcmp to get involved in firearms laws....which unfortunately is the exact opposite of reality but politics are politics and politicians are gay

The wood does not cover the entire length of the barrel, it stops about a foot short of the end. Minor scrapes on it, I don't have pics and I'm not sure of the year or model. I just want a cool bolt action Milsurp and the mosins are almost at the same price now.

Is .303 brit hard to find? Harder or more $$ than mosins 762x54r?

i just bought a "sporterized" lee enfield about two weeks ago, i know exactly how you feel especially with the price jump in mosins in the last year and a half thankfully mlst people re getting out of enfields beause of the cost of the round, the worst you'll pay is 1.75 to 2$ a round but you can get it better than that... my local walmart had boxes of .303 180 grain winchester soft pints for 26$ for 20 rouds so i bought a few boxes...for the cost of the round tough you're etting aLOT of bullet in term of knockdown and penetration power...mine went through 1/4 inch steel plate at 75 yards...

250 might be good it depends on the condition, check the bore, check the action, make sure it's not missing any vital parts.. mine was 100 with no magazine and 70$ for the magazine form a local guy but i got lucky, parts are getting rarer and rarer so don't expect them to be esy to find or easily affordable unless you goto a gunshow...

http://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/27-years-after-massacre-activists-say-country-is-going-backwards

>It has been 27 years since the Polytechnique massacre, but for Heidi Rathjen and other gun control activists, time appears to be moving backward.

>Rathjen was holed up in a classroom on Dec. 6, 1989, when Marc Lépine went on a shooting rampage through École Polytechnique, killing 14 women at the engineering school. She has since become an activist for tougher laws on gun ownership.

>Speaking to the Montreal Gazette on Monday – the day the university handed out its Order of the White Rose scholarship – Rathjen said despite her efforts and those of the families of the victims, gun laws in this country are actually more lax than they were before the shooting.

>“In many respects, the law today is weaker than it was in 1989; in fact, it’s weaker than it was in 1978, and it’s weaker in some respects than (gun control laws) in the United States,” said Rathjen, who said gun-law advocates have been disappointed in recent years since the rollback of the long-gun registry by the Conservative government in 2012. That registry was set up in 1995 in response to lobbying efforts spearheaded by the families of the victims of the massacre.

>Federal Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale said in September his government is in the process of drafting new legislation on gun control, but Rathjen said the government needs to act with urgency to honour its election pledge to enact stricter gun control laws.

>“Gun control is a life and death issue, and it should be a priority, but we’re still waiting,” she said.
>>

Jack Layton and my grandfather worked together for many years. I met him when I was a kid once.... This made me sad.

>>

Fuck Tom Mulcair, He's turned what was once a legit workers party that fought heavily for the rights of western Canadians that were being fucked over and dictated by yuppies in ottawa in the past century, Were responsible for getting most the roads built etc. But Its been downhill for a long time since Layton died and they turned into the lefter than liberal Pander Party.

Gary Doer should learn French and take over the federal NDP.

He was the "save for a rainy day" type lefty. Not the "wrack up 60 billion in debt to pay for rainbow sparkle shit" type lefty.

Russian/German/Polish/American/English/Ukrainian mutt reporting in. I'm very white.
>>
>>32239142
I do DESU, fuck carrying a million keys around. I just keep the lock 1 number off the combo, and even then only have them on while transporting.
>>
>>32239280
If you're transporting they are pretty much under your supervision anyways. If you have to stop to eat a hamburger your car is technically a locked container. So that's really not that terrible.
>>
>>32239198
Is that an m305? How do you like it?
>>
>>32239275
Yes but such a rainbow of white

U in between Essex and Aylmer?

True, but it's better safe than sorry, and makes people more comfortable.

also what's the difference between hardwood and laminate SKS? The Hardwoods seem to go for cheaper everywhere I see them advertised. Are they older models?

One of my favorite guns. I wouldn't buy an M14 for American prices, but for ~$500 it's a steal.

Tinker with it, put whatever stocks or rails on it. It's a blank slate for whatever you want to do with it.

I may get another one with a 18.5" barrel with an aimpoint for hog hunting.

Are they as erotic to fire in real life as they are in my dreams?

I'll change them if its against the law to have them set to 000

When I first sent the money order for a 2nd hand one through CGN EE I had sleepless nights as a college student that spent money he shouldn't have.

After hearing the ping of the flash hider, the light recoil of a heavy battle rifle and having all rounds in the black, I had no doubt in my mind I have made the right choice.
>>
>>32239418
I don't think it has anything to do with age, I have a hardwood 54 and there was a hardwood 56 at the store as well
>>
>>32239418
Birch hardwood stocks are GOAT.
>>
>>32239940
Then if they are the best why are they cheaper? :o What's the catch?

We at least have 2 gunshops within the city proper.

Bullshit.

>>32240297
He's not the only NDPer that was against it. Gary Doer when he was Manitoba premier petitioned the supreme court against it.

How much does .303 cost per trigger pull these days?
>>

About $1.75 is the lowest you can find them. I'm gonna start reloading. I have about 200 empty casings now.

somebody in the last thread had a picture of a beautiful looking mossberg 590 with a short barrel and an even shorter grip

here we go, i'm not sure what parts you'd need but i'm also highly interested in one as well, i've really wanted a 590 ever since i saw that video of the guy bayoneting and exploding a cabbage so i'd love to have a short/ long shotgun depending on how you wanted to outfit it

Anyone have any good suggestions for ranges around Calgary? I'm thinking of joining CDTSA when membership opens up in January (as long as I can actually get a membership), but Milo isn't the most convenient as I live in the NW. I've only ever shot in Waiparous as it seems like no decent range is taking membership apps until January.

If anyone has any advice about Calgary area shooting options I'm all ears.

the kit is available from mossberg directly, or ask a local shop to order you a mossberg 514 kit

The NDP was against abolishing the registry. They fucking whipped the vote on it JUST ENOUGH to prevent it from passing while allowing as many of the MP's who promised to vote to abolish it the YES vote as possible.

They're fucking calculating, undemocratic assholes who whipped a fucking private member's bill.

You can take your NDP love and shove it up your ass to keep your head company.
