New poorfag battle rifles start around $900 with the PTR, and occasionally a DSA Voyager SA58 at $1000. I don't know the ballpark price for AR10s. Used battle rifles can be much less, but you get what you pay for, and often times less than that.

I went to my LGS to talk about getting a PTR and they said they had a Century in back completely disassembled and the barrel and receiver needed repainted. They were going to see if they still had all the parts and get back to me about how much they'd sell it to me for. What would be a good deal for it? Also should I even buy a Century or stick with getting a PTR?
>>
Getting into the AR10 market, would someone kindly list out a tier list of different manufacters?
>>
>>32160627
High end:
KAC, DD, LaRue, Noveske, GAP, LMT, Mega, DRD, might have missed one
Mid end:
Primary Arms, POF, Fulton Armory, RRA, Colt
Everything else is going to be low end. Low end isnt necessarily bad
>>
>>32160694

What about Armalite?
>>
>>32160718
Mixture. DEF10 is low end, SASS is probably upper mid end.
DPMS has a similar spread.

>Battle rifle is a term used to describe a military service rifle that fires a full-power rifle cartridge, such as 7.62×51mm NATO or 7.62×54mmR. Compared to assault rifles and their intermediate cartridges, the higher-caliber rounds provide greater power and range, though they render magazine capacity low and produce stronger recoil, making them less than ideal for fully automatic fire.
>The designation of battle rifle is usually given to post-World War II select fire infantry rifles such as the FN FAL, the M14, BM59 and the H&K G3.[1] This term also describes older military full-powered semi-automatic rifles such as the M1 Garand, the MAS-49 and the FN-49.[2][3]

What's the difference between .308 win and 7.62x51?
Everything says that they're interchangeable but not the same round
>>
>>32164052
.308 is designed for hunting. It's generally less pressurized and often has rounded tips.

7.62 is designed for piercing body armor, flesh, and whatever was in front of those two things. It's more pressurized and usually has pointed tips.

They both use the exact same bullet casing the bullet diameter is the same (i.e. will fit through the barrel) so you can use them interchangeably.
>>
>>32164064
So i could take a bunch of .308 brass, put 7.62 FMJs on them and call them NATO?
I guess what gets me is why make the distinction between the two if there is barely one in the first place
>>
>>32164090
Uh, maybe? I'm not a reloader.

The distinction is mostly entirely based on who you're targeting for the consumer. Fudds don't know milimeters, but they do know .300 caliber Durr rounds. But NATO does have specifications for what all of their rounds are like, so if your .308 fits into those specifications it could be called a NATO round.

Do they make rifles?
I know there have been some issues with the small parts aero uses on receiver sets in the past. Small parts are easy to replace
>>
>>32161372
by that definition L1A1s, PTR91s, and M1As aren't battle rifles either because they aren't select fire
>>
>>32165502
They're civilian versions of rifles that are though. That's good enough for this thread.
>>
>>32164052
there are certain .308 hunting rifles in which it may not be safe to use 7.62 NATO.

Allegedly
>>
>>32164052
7.62 is a slightly lower powered .308.

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/03/13/graphic-breakdown-of-308-vs-7-62x51/

.308 is a slightly higher pressure load than 762x51. Back in the day, it was recommended that some 762 rifles not fire .308, as it could damage the guns innards.

The cheapest I can find mags for it is $60 and the manual takes like 15 pages just to tell how to disassemble it for cleaning. Ask Skinky; his Dutch-Boy slob job looks better than Sakuya's glossy FALFiles Rhodie paint kit.
>>
>>32176414
Uhhhh, well I dont think you want mine desu.
Dickgirl used Rustoleum spraypaint on his, though, so you could always try that.

Also, I lost the codes from SW when I got my new phone, ao (ironically) I think sakuya might be the only one with my shitty paint screenshot anymore.

Shitlord's Tip: Use a sock or sponge to apply the paint.

I'm legitimately considering selling/trading my FAL (StG-58 I built) towards either a nice Dan Wesson 1911 in either .45 or 10mm, or another nice 10mm like a Sig P220 or something

I'm on the fence. I love my FAL and I love the history and feel behind it but honestly I don't really care for shooting it. If I want to shoot a full caliber rifle I usually shoot my Garand 9/10 times over my FAL.
