I'd look for a 16" if it's your first AR since it's a little more common and easier to change MDs without soldering, welding or whatever.
If you want to build the easiest way possible, buy a complete upper, complete lower, and some sights and slap them all together.
Next easiest is to buy a stripped lower, install an LPK and stock, and attach it to a complete upper.
A stripped lower just means it's only the lower receiver without any parts installed which requires you to buy and installed all the little parts that make the gun work.

Check out PSA they usually have some uppers and lowers in Stock.

Also, a friend got me a scarf from titanfall as a secret Santa present. It got delivered to my parents house, and my mom opened it and thinks I'm gay now. I was actually leaning toward killing some of the fire it makes. Granted it's not bad on the comp to begin with, since if I'm not mistaken I read somewhere it also helps kill the flash, but I'm just not really interested in a comp. This is the first AR I've owned that came with one, but I don't really feel a difference. Then again, this is also the lightest AR I've owned by a good pound and a half, so maybe that's skewing my view. Who knows.

My only real gripe is that it'd be a total waste to parts bin it, since to my knowledge, it's actually a really decent comp. Who knows, maybe my lgs would have some use for it.

And yours aint half bad either. How do you like that grip? I can't stand AFG's, but those look like they have the angle I'd be more comfortable with.
