A lot of pro gun people don't trust Trump. He's unpredictable. Unpredictable is better than predictably wrong, but if it ever becomes convenient for him to switch positions, he will throw us under the bus in a heartbeat.

More outspoken than any candidate period. Nixon wanted to ban handguns, both Bushes supported an assault weapon ban and background checks, and Reagan thought there was "no reason" for a person to be concealed carrying.

I think Trump might flip flop on background checks at worst, but considering the NRA won the election for him even that is unlikely. If he flip flopped on AWB/mags the NRA would oppose him in the 2020 primaries and the GOP establishment would obstruct him every step of the way to make his presidency fail.
