Chipping in on this one since locksmith.
These don't work all too well. The aluminium isn't strong enough to use reliably and is too thick to get into most padlocks of not shit-tier quality.
Buy some proper shims online, they're relatively cheap and much more useful.
Also some padlocks can't be opened via shims do to the locking mechanism, so don't expect them to work all the time.

My main concern with this one is that things like fishing line, rubber on the slingshot, and lots of the metal parts will wear out in a few years. I'm assuming SHTF means civilization is completely fucking lost and you need to completely rebuild that shit.

Lockpicking is useful sure. How to steal from a retail store is not. If shtf then people would just be openly looting stores, no need to worry about how to avoid getting caught by employees.
Also a lot of the breaking into houses part is how to avoid looking suspicious, which only applies for non SHTF. A lot of the info is purely for common criminals.
