Hello /k/
I don't usually come here but I've been wanting to obtain a firearm and I'm not sure what's allowed here in Canada.
Can someone recommend a handgun in the 500-700$ range (doesn't have to be brand new, I can browse classified ads) ? Just looking for a quality, reliable weapon that's gonna keep fools in check.
>also
you may suggest a decent cheap shotgun
thanks!

You can't use a pistol for self defense in Canada unless you're a cop. Period.

Atleast look these things up before you spread the wrong info. Trappers can carry with the right paper work and also you're good to carry if your job is inwoods and you need it to defend against predators
Get a Norinco M14. It's what every American gun guy wants but cannot have (along with SVDs and the SVT-40)

TT -33 can still be purchased for $180
Steel core ammunition is still cheaper than 9mm
Armour piercing up to level IIA
Indestructible and easy to disassemble

Where the fuck are u getting a svd in Canada?

OP was talking about using a handgun for home defense so >>32057718 is technically correct. Then again, we have the whole "appropriate use of force" thing so talk to your lawyer first before planning your home defense strategy around the use of a firearm.

SVD's are prohib since 1995 bro. Best you can do is a SKS in an ATI Drugunov stock.

Ask in the Canada General thread for Canuck-specific prices, models, etc. but your best option is to go to a range a shoot a few different handguns or at last fingerfuck some at a gunshop for comfort, ethos and the like. It also helps if you tell us how familiar you are with handguns and if you're looking for specific features such as hammer or striker fired, external safety, size, etc...

there's no law which would prevent someone from using a handgun for home defence in Canada. a man in toronto of all places literally shot police who were illegally entering his home and got off
no bylaw can preempt castle law so all discharge bylaws are void if you are fending off intruders.
also use the Canada thread.
