16'' 1:7 is what mine is. Yours is more gucci than my plain jane AR Though. I think 16" is a good length overall, especially for a first AR. It seems to be really popular right now at least.

The ar 15 sucks its an inferior rifle cartridge to anything bigger than 22 lr

What model AR is this Norc copied from? I love the retro looks on this thing, but it seems like there's a billion models out there, and I'm just getting into this sort of thing.

I am building an AR10 with a 20" upper, should i go with a carbine length buffer or a rifle length buffer. Recommendations on each setup, I kind of want to toss a PRS stock on it because aesthetics but it the functionality is going to be effected by the longer buffer system it wont be worth it.

Troy is decent stuff. No one really likes them though because of the whole them supporting ruby ridge thing.

Alright /arg/, I need your help and I trust /k/ (for some ungodly reason)

I'm in need of a "fighting rifle" and have been on the fence between an ar and an ak. My hopes is that you can talk me into an ar.

Basically what I'm wanting is a fairly close quarters type of rifle. It'd be my home defense rifle, and like I said, the "fighting rifle" kind of thing. I NEED reliability and durability from it. I don't want it to be a pretty little safe princess that never gets a scratch on it because I'm too scared to get it dirty. I'm not sure if I should just buy a lower, and buy upper parts I want, or just buy a stock one and swap out pieces as I see fit.

I'd want some kind of dot sight on it, a flashlight... collapsible stock, nice rail... Folding iron sights. Probably muzzle brake to reduce what little recoil there is for 5.56.

Anyway, is there any suggestions you'd have as far as what to buy, how to go about this???

Do you mean build the upper? Because after researching how to build lowers, I don't have anywhere near the finesse, knowledge, or tools to do something like that.

And yes, I like simplicity. Flashlight and one optic are plenty for me thank you.
