Also, it sounds like the CCFR and CSSA are doing some good work on Parliament educating MPs. I suppose we'll have to wait and see, of course.

You'll have some time before prices rise. They have to use up the supplies here before ordering more.

Prices are likely to go up either way- the stock market is sort of shaky right now, so a lot of people are moving into the US dollar for safety. Combine that with concerns about the Canadian economy and oil prices going forward, and we'll likely see a weakening in the CAD.

Either way, sooner rather than later is a good bet, but I think you'll have some time and won't have to rush out.

If it's milsurp you're interested in, get a Lee-Enfield- SMLE Mk III to go with the G98.

If it's hunting, try out one of those used Husqvarna 1600s from TradeEx. Nice price for an upgraded Swedish Mauser (better gas handling in the event of a pierced primer, stronger action).

What's wrong with Swedish guns? They're well-made. TradeEx has a bunch of German rifles as well, if you don't want Swedish.

As for the Lee-Enfield, keep an eye out for sporterized rifles. Prophet River has a consignment Lee Enfield No4 Mk1 for $350- it looks complete other than the wood. Replacement wood and bands aren't that pricey.

The other option is to check out PS Militaria- they have some Lee-Enfields from 550 and up. Wood's a bit beat:

Yeah, I know about the sporterized models, luckly, one dealer sells two MK IIIs produced in 1917, the problem is..the price, which is around 900 CAD.
>>

When's the next gun show in your area? I saw some decent deals on Lee-Enfields when I went to the Calgary gun show around Easter this year. Even better deals on rifles that were "de-sporterized".

Not so decent when you consider the cheaper ones were all mixmaster desporters. At the prices they were expecting it's cheaper to buy a sporter and the new wood.

>>
>>31920206
Sorry about not stating that, I've mentioned it in the previous threads, so sorry if you haven't been there.

AVERAGE price for a Norwegian Krag is 292 CAD.
>>
>>31920240
That sounds about on par with a non-sporterized Mk.III* Lee Enfield. No.4s and No.5s tend to be a bit more expensive. More around the $400 range. $500 would be getting rather excessive though. Sporterized Lee Enfields are generally about $100-150.
>>
>>31920676
Yeah, I would get one if they were actually around $400, but as I mentioned above, they go for around $900.

>>
>>31920954
Yes $900 CAD, for an Lee Enfield Np1. MK.III* produced in 1917.
>>
>>31920954
Fuck derp, it was JUST as I clicked the 'Post' button when I realized "oh shit, he probably means in Norway", and then I scrolled up to find out that's the case. Sorry about that. Yeah, $400 is pretty standard in Canada for a No.4, but I'd consider that excessive for a Mk.III*. I mean, I consider those rifles pretty much priceless, but as far as the prices go as they are now, you're getting a bit ripped off with $400, unless it's some kind of UNBELIEVABLY high-quality example perhaps. Sorry to hear they're so expensive in your part, but then again your nation didn't have Lee Enfields as standard issue for around 40 years. I don't know what prices are for Krags over here, but they're probably around $400, I imagine. I don't think it would be as intense as $900 though... damn...

>>31920991
Yeah, sorry about posting/discussing this in the CANADA thread, but alas, you are the only friendly lads on /k/.

You're totally correct about the Lee Enfields not being standard issue for us Norwegians, the one that are listed up for sale came here during WWII as weapon airdrops.

Here's a picture of one of them, looks pretty good imho.
>>
>>31921036
Yeah, I meant No.1, pardon the typo.

Noooo, we don't care if you're not from Canada, or at least I don't. I kind of doubt people would try to oust you just because you're not from Canada. Surely there's Americans who lurk Canada General threads sometimes.

Yup, that's looking like a beaut of a Lee Enfield. The protective ears for the rear sight look a bit odd, or is it just me? Like they should be on an original Mk.III from before 1915 rather than a Mk.III*. Bah, it's probably just me. Got that nice WWII-style cocking piece, yup. Disk was removed, but they probably did that before air dropping them. I've heard some claims that the Krag bolt is smoother than a Lee bolt, but I don't believe it. Admittedly I haven't handled a Krag yet, but until I do, I won't be able to just buy into this strange belief that its bolt is smoother. The reason a Lee bolt is so smooth is because of the following...

>cock-on-close
>60 degree bolt turn
>easily able to fire without letting go of the bolt

The 10-rnd mag is just the icing on the cake, and of course there's the fact that if it were, say, in .30-06 or something big like that, then the longer throw would slightly slow down the rate of fire so the fact it's in .303 British, making for a shorter throw, helps to keep things smooth and quick. So what are the qualities of a Krag? If it's cock-on-open and/or has a 90 degree bolt turn, then until I handle one, I simply cannot believe its bolt is smoother. Also I don't like the fact that Militaries never used those civilian-made reloading clips. The Militaries that adopted the Krag, to my knowledge, ALWAYS reloaded one round at a time.

If only I still had them... what are they going for now, $350? Shouldn't be at $400 yet though, right? I heard the Norinco M14s were up to $450-500 though, sadly. They were at $400 half a decade ago.

>Should be about 26.5lb with 5 rounds in the mag
>Unless the mag is detachable in which case might have to add the weight of the magazine itself too, so basically around 27lb or less

For a semi-auto .50 BMG, that sounds like a VERY reasonable weight to me. What makes it better is the compact package, and the fact that most of the weight is close to the shooter. I'd still rather a normal rifle like a Lee Enfield or SKS or something, but I must say, I'd MUCH sooner take that thing over a Barret M82/M107. $15,000 for one firearm though? Hah, maybe if I become a millionaire someday. Still, it's not often that I speaking favourably of a .50 BMG firearm, in fact this might be the first time in my LIFE that I actually considered (albeit briefly) in purchasing one some day. I'm not a manlet either; 6' tall physically fairly strong. I just hate the thought of a 30lb+ rifle using ammo that's 4 rounds per pound. Not only that, but while it IS on my bucket list to reach 1000m some day, I'm not interested in trying to reach beyond that, ESPECIALLY not with a .50 BMG. It would basically be purely a safe queen/talking piece except for the rare occasion that I feel more like abusing my shoulder instead of enjoying one of my historic pieces of milsurp.

God damn though. Unloaded, that thing is about the same weight as an unloaded MG42. For a semi-auto .50 BMG, that sounds AMAZING to me! Undoubtedly its compact bullpup nature would make it FAR more agreeable for shoulder-firing as well compared to the M82/M107. I can't believe I'm actually talking about shoulder-firing a .50 BMG without saying it's the stupidest fucking thing on the planet. I fear for my mental health and wellbeing...

It's also a long-recoil rifle, something you don't see much anymore.
>>
>>31923016
My issue is that level basically leaves little beyond Norc guns and some surplus.
>>
>>31923075
you're correct, $400 is too low. entry =/= surplus. that's practically the cost of PAL+RPAL+App fee.

<=$1000 is a good point for 'entry' stuff.
>>
I might shoot myself tonight
>>
>>31923039
Oh, I remember Ian talking about that action in a vid, wasn't there a semi-auto rifle that Browning made back in the early 1900s that was long-recoil? Remington Model 5 or something like that? I really can't remember the name at all, but long-recoil means the barrel goes with the bolt until a certain point when the barrel stops and so the bolt keeps going back to extract/eject the spent casing. By the time the bolt continues forward, the barrel has already returned to its original position, allowing another round to be chambered?

>>31923075
Unless all you're after is a .22lr. But yeah, $400 and less is essentially limiting you to surplus bolt actions, some surplus semi-autos (SKS/SVT) and Norinco stuff. Wouldn't get a Norinco AR for that price though, and I hear $400 Norinco M14s are essentially a thing of the past. Maybe if you get one used that hasn't been customized at all and only comes with 1-2 mags?

Speaking of which, why would people get multiple 5-rnd mags? It's A LOT better to just get 5-rnd clips! Cheaper, lighter, less bulky, and any difference in reload speed would be negligible.

No, that's short recoil.

Long recoil is when the barrel moves ALL THE WAY to the back, unlocks from the bolt, moves forward and THEN the bolt moves forward, stripping a round from the magazine.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH1vjRlhkmI

The Auto 5 is a shotgun. The Model 8 is a long-recoil rifle.

it all relies on conservatives having the sense to to make him party leader and not forcing him to take militant anti-gay/pro-life/anti-burqa stances before an election. most people don't give a shit about those things, and they alienate a lot of voters. after being elected he can go 0 to 100 on those issues and be like 'what did you expect?', but during an election cycle that kills off conservatives. he needs to adopt trump conservatism (populism with a hint of nationalism).

He can appeal to normies with shit like lower taxes and a stronger currency. pretty sure that's where most canadians feel pain right now. there's not a fucking chance weedman gets reelected against a safe conservative choice like that.
>>
>>31926577
He's pretty libertarian in general, so with a solid party backing and a half decent PR team he should be great after the damage Trudeau is doing to the country. Especially if he makes some token changes to CPC stances on things like gay marriage (they will literally never fight over it) and abortion (same thing). All he does is push for changes, make a big deal over it, and win progressive points without actually having to do anything progressive.

Mk.III* in Canada is generally about $300-350 in my experience. Sporterized is $100, though $150 would be pushing it. No.4 with full stock is about $350-400. No.5 "Jungle Carbine" is about $400-450. The Mk.III* is the cheapest. I bought a 19th century No.1 MLE in amazing condition for $1000 and I consider that a fair price. That's some serious history, though.
>>
>>31926549

Ah. I read the huffpo stuff, but you said CBC. Was curious what the state propaganda machine was saying about him.

>>31926577

He seems to be more of a weak fed, strong provincial government type guy (which will earn him points in Quebec and Alberta alike).

In a CBC interview regarding the leadership race, he said that he's pro legalization of marijuana, but he's waiting to see the details in the LPC's bill before he makes a decision on whether to vote for it or not (fair enough).

>>31926600

People are already waking up to the Trudeau catastrophe. I'm just hoping he doesn't fuck things up too much before the next election, but he has a majority government, so their ineptitude is the only thing holding them back...

I remember when I got my M1 Rifle, it was one of the best days ever. Around 2010 I think, possibly as early as late 2009. I THINK I got it for about $800. Well, more like $900 but once you exclude shipping/handling fees as well as all the ammo/clips that came with it, it basically comes to an $800 rifle, which is fucking hot. Nowadays though, I doubt you could find one for under $1000 unless it's an absolutely trashed beater or something. $1600, especially if it's in fantastic condition overall, doesn't sound OVERLY bad. I mean, obviously it could be better, but we're talking about an M1 Rifle here. I'd put town over $2000 if I had the money and it was the only offer available.

Friendly reminder; the M1 Rifle was designed by John Cantius Garand, born in St.Remi, Quebec, Canada. I love how much Americans hate being reminded of that, I REALLY do. Implying that the M1 Carbine, M14, and Mini 14/30 all have Canadian roots just seems to trigger them.

Well at one point, when I was working at Suncore (Oil Sands plant) near Fort McMurray, I was making about $1200 per week? Possibly $1400? The VERY most I ever made was $1800-1900 per week, but that had some tricky loopholes that ended up biting us all in the ass. Still, it was fun while it lasted. Sadly though, work is becoming harder and harder to find it would seem, and most jobs would be more like $800 every TWO weeks, probably, if you're not working at an Oil Sands plant or with some fancy job. Like when I worked at Tim Horton's in Edmonton. Made about $700-800 every 2 weeks. I was a hardcore stoner though, so quite a lot of that went to pot. I was a baker who liked getting baked.

There are microclimates here and there, but that's pretty accurate.

I was raised in Quebec. We'd go as low as -40C during winter and as high as 30C during summer (but it feels like 40 with the 100% humidity). Snow banks usually piled up to well over 6 feet tall and if you're unlucky, freezing rain can literally bring the entire province to a standstill. Pic related.

Take a look at Newfoundland. I find here, it generally doesn't stray from from -20 in the Winters and +20 in the Summers. This Summer I think the hottest we got was perhaps 25? It's just an island though; not on mainland Canada, and there's funny accents. The accent would either be a pro, because it's a laugh, or a con, because sometimes it makes it difficult to understand. Especially for a foreigner I figure. By the way, look up Lans aux Meadows. Some of your ancestors may have already visited us roughly 1000 years ago.

what you can own is national

where you can shoot, the time transfers take, hunting, and certain rules regarding the safety course vary by province, as well as how you're generally treated by the powers that be

not really

Haha nice. Talking with an accent that thick, and using that much slang, it seems to me to be falling into disuse. Nowadays it seems to mostly only come out either for a joke, or when drunk. Still, funny all the same. Even we Newfs find it funny. I find what gets Newfies laughing the hardest though is when someone foreign, ESPECIALLY if they have a foreign accent, says something like "I'm from Newfoundland, how y'gettin on, b'y!" A Middle Eastern cab driver in Fort Mac said that to us when we got in, and we were laughing our asses off. Gave him a Hell of a tip. Then there was a woman I was talking to on the phone from a Chinese restaurant there, and she clearly had an Asian accent of some sort, yet used some Newfie lingo like "me dear" or "me duckie" or something like that. I found it REALLY hard not to laugh, but the combination of Asian and Newfie accent with Newfie lingo, it's like she either learned English from a Newfie or at least 'improved' her English by talking a lot with Newfie co-workers or roommates or something, because it had a big affect on her accent in English, and I found it fucking adorable. She was probably in her late teens or early 20s. Wish I could have spoken to her in person, but I basically only ever ordered from that place, never really sat down there.

>Of course, I would need courses for any automatic rifles.

You wish, we get precisely zero giggle switches here. Can't even get a grandfathered one, I believe. On the other hand, at least large guns (like 20mm) are considered non-restricted firearms, and can be bought and sold without anything special (aside from a PAL)

this but it's more of a quota thing, not so much "can you hunt correctly so the animal feels no pain in its last moments" as "we have only X deer and you can only have 0.06% of them"

canada really isn't that anti-gun on the whole, population-wise or in government. it's just not that big a part of the public discourse. most things that affect gun culture stem from non-gun things, like the amount of crown land available or hunting laws for specific animals and shit

You linked the wrong comment in terms of what you had to say about Quebec. Personally, I keep hearing it's a have-not province as well, and would do poorly if they became their own Province. Even if they WOULD do well on their own though, I wouldn't want to let them go.
>Canada would be separated from the Maritimes
>Canada would get a smaller landmass and would probably no longer be 2nd largest in the world

... I hate the thought of Canadians dying, but I believe that keeping Quebec is about the only reason there is for there to be a civil war. Yeah that's pretty fucking extreme to say, but God damn it, I don't want my nation to end up smaller and I CERTAINLY don't want to get cut off from mainland Canada! I see Quebec as being an important part of Canada as well! They're the source of why we're a bilingual nation which I take pride in. They produced one of our national dishes; poutine! John Cantius Fucking Garand is from Quebec and I don't want to see the day that he's no longer a fellow countryman! We have our historic training base in St.Jean! The Montreal Canadians might be my sworn enemies due to having been raised a Leafs fan, but that doesn't mean I don't want them to be from the same nation as me!

... don't go, Quebec... I don't know what I'll do... :(

>>
>>31931012
we're not bilingual, we're a country with a small region that speaks a different language than the rest

whats more is, they bullied us through terrorism and a sympathetic prime minister to force their culture and language on the entire country, even places that are less than 1% french

our "bilingualism" is statist bullshit forced on us by terrorists
>>
>>31931023
Having French on the majority of products has helped me learn some, and I hope to become fluent in French someday. It's also yet another thing that separates us from the US; we're bilingual and they're not. I just find the French language downright cool, even though I haven't got any French heritage.

>>31931062
We're officially a bilingual nation. I understand that the vast majority of Canada doesn't speak French, but I still like that we're bilingual. I don't believe they forced their language on us, I believe we accepted the French language to make it easier on the Quebecers to travel Canada since they were basically stuck with it. I see it as just being considerate, anon.

Honestly, I was almost shitting myself laughing when I photoshopped the fuck out of that image with MS paint. Nobody else finds it hilarious, nor my over-the-top post that went with it? I thought it was fucking hysterical, though seriously, I do not want to see a Quebecless Canada, nor do I want to see Canada lose its bilingual status. I see it as being better than being unilingual or monolingual or whatever the term may be, and I don't think I want to see a THIRD language spammed on all our products, so yeah, bilingual with English and French seems fantastic to me. Isn't Newfoundland even one of the most predominantly English-only speaking Provinces around? What's mainlanders got against Quebec and French? Sounds like the kind of thing I'd hear from Americans rather than Canadians.

>>
>>31933554
and how much does it put in?

you're probably referring to what the fed gives back to the provinces, which is NOT net loss. if it were, then canada itself would be a constant net loss by those numbers.

Ontario and Quebec take a lot of money because they put a lot in. it's like a tax refund. Ontario has a lot of commerce because Toronto is basically a budget version of New York, and Quebec has tons of high tech industry and agriculture.

But be sure to go on thinking that the province with like 4 top 20 universities, dozens of software firms and more coming in every year, and being a maker of a lot of unique agricultural products totally makes zero money ever.
>>
>o-ontario and

>the only other provinces anyone actually remembers are BC, Alberta, and Nova Scotia (but only because Halifax is in it)

>Halifax is next to bankrupt and only survives because of the RCN
>Albertan companies are laying people off left and right and the province itself is out of money because it refused to impose taxes ever until now
>BC is full of hippies who hate industry and has a burgeoning separatist movement

Meanwhile, Ontario is full of (((bankers))) doing their thing and Quebec is basically becoming a lesser California because there's like ten universities and a dozen software houses, alongside the agriculture and actually having a manufacturing sector.

Keep crying, Eternal Anglo.

>>
>>31933688
>Ontario and Quebec take a lot of money because they put a lot in. it's like a tax refund.
I'm aware of how the system works, and Ontario and Quebec are net drains. They take out more than they put in, hence the word "net" before the word "drain." Until recently the system was largely kept solvent by minor contributions from the prairies and BC, and major contributions from Alberta, but with the oil price being what it is, we are running on reserves and loans.

>>

>alberta gets little because they pay little

>>
>>31933935
Yeah, the point of it is if your province is short money, then you take money out of the pot. If you have a surplus, you put money into the pot. If you're taking money out, it's because you don't have money. The whole system is set up so the provinces with less money get extra from other provinces who have a surplus so that they don't have to take loans from banks.
To repeat: If you are taking money, it's because you can't afford to pay off your debts. There is no ratio of pay-in to pay-out in any way.
>>
>>31933964

Alberta's tax rates were set to match up with the industries that provided employment (until the later PCs and now the NDP fucked that up). Apart from a slightly lower income tax, the only real difference from other provinces is the lack of a PST.

Alberta's income taxes and royalty rates were set such that oil money would be maximized without driving away all the companies. It's a delicate balance, because they can always leave- and quickly.

Surplus for 2 years in a row is good, but doesn't exactly make up for things if there was deficite long before 2014. I don't hate Quebec, and I don't think all of the rest of Canada does. I also don't think Canada wants to jump up and seize anything too quickly because we don't want to lose Quebec. The francophobes might like the idea, but at the risk of dividing our country? I think it's foolish to even consider, no matter how much they might dislike Canada being a bilingual nation. I believe the losing Quebec would be a staggering geographical and cultural loss. Whether or not we'd gain or lose a couple billion a year makes no difference to me. I like the IDEA of an independent Newfoundland, but I think it's in our best interest to stay with Canada, and I think in the long run it's Quebec's best interest as well. Canada is a pretty fucking kickass country, and Quebec is a part of what makes us what we are, just like Newfoundland is now a part of Canada, has been for 67 years now. When my four grandparents were born, Newfoundland was its own country, and part of the British Empire.

I just like the idea of backing up what I say, but really for safety's sake, it's probably best not to. Still, there's a couple guys I've met on here who I'd like to chat with again sometime. The Norway dude seems to be away for now but I hope that medical issue gets sorted. The other guy is a fellow I spoke to once. It was a fucking good chat that vastly improved a fucking bad day. There was one specific name he used as a nickname for me, which I won't share now, so hoping to hear that name again someday so that we can shoot the shit again. He seen a fuckload of the pics I had from 2011, and when I posted one in a second thread that had the same sort of timestamp in the bottom right corner, it turned out we were actually swapping posts in a second threat at the exact same time.

It was unfortunate when it had to inevitably come to an end, but God damn, it felt fucking good to actually get that off my chest and actually hear some support about it. Even said he'd see about checking out my novel, which is awesome.
>>
>>31934565
Actually I think now you're talking about Milo Yiannopolous, or however that fucked up last name is spelt, and specifically he likes putting BLACK stuff up his bum and kissing BLACK men.

He's awesome, too. English though; not Canadian.
>>
>>31934613

No, Gavin kissed Milo and put something in his ass on his show once.

Still, he's pretty good.
>>
>>31934613
Nah, Gavin McInnes has flashed his butthole on screen, shoved something into it, and kissed Milo. Not all in one day, but still pretty disgusting
>>
Please Trump win and put that cuck Trudeau in his place.

>backing up what I say
On what authority? Or do you mean that you'd rather be seen as consistent, instead of just another anon dropping in with shitposts for which he is held unaccountable?

I would totally go full collaborator and work as an interpreter for occupying forces.

>"Anon, ask this nice man where the Canadian tanks are."
>"Eh bud you seen any of those big metal cocksuckers around ere?
>"Oh fucking rights bud, they parked them down by the mic dicks and they decided to fuck off and down a two four when weedman got himself caught"
>"What did he say, anon?"
>"He's grateful to be liberated and welcome the Americans as friends."
>>
>>31934728
Consistency I guess. Probably just a bad idea though. I've only been back on /k/ for a short while and don't know for how much longer I'll be lurking since shit is pretty unstable in my life right now, so now's not the time to really even consider it.

>>31934733
>with little resistance
Cute. So how's things going with all of the UN bearing down on an America that has supposedly invaded Mexico and Canada? I dare say even Russia would be happy to fight alongside Nato. Probably take back Alaska. For some reason, I think Japan would get Hawaii. UK would probably get New England, the area around the Great Lakes (including Michigan) would go to Canada, perhaps Texas could arrange to remain independent, maybe by attacking America from the inside ("The South will rise again", etc.), and so on and so forth. Hey, maybe Florida would go back to France! That was part of the Louisiana trade that Napoleon set up, right?

Oh fuck, I didn't even notice, that's hilarious. At least they've figured out that our capital isn't Toronto, eh?

I'd rather shoot invading UN troops than invading American troops. Better the devil you know.

Not all of them... I was hiking in Vermont this past weekend and met a girl who didn't know a single fucking thing about Canada (such as its capital) even though the Habs were """"her""""" team. Admittedly she was drunk, but nobody forgets basic geographical knowledge after a few shots

I don't understand; the UN troops would be invading America, not Canada.

>>31934938
Habs? Oh, well there's your answer; she's just a fucking moron. Ok, wow, that was WAY too aggressive, but yeah, there's the American education system there for you, I guess.
>America, America, America, America, and more America... aaaaaand there's a few other countries out there too. The Communist and former Communist ones are bed. What's Communism? It's bad, that's all you need to know. Ok, you're ready for life, time for graduation!

That how I hear basic American education goes, essentially.

>>31934950
Thanks, hopefully things go well and I'll be able to stick around this time instead of letting a few more years slip by. Have some sexy irons sights. 17 free internets if you can guess what rifle they're from.
>The amount of (mostly) free internets is sort of a clue, btw. Good thing you read the fine print though; notice the brackets? You actually wouldn't have ended up with an entire 17, you'll at most only get 14 if you guess right.

That ought to REALLY throw you for a loop...
>>
>>31935093
>That how I hear basic American education goes, essentially.

Not like the education up here is any better.
>hurr, abos were good ol boys who didn do anything
>you must openly support the causes of homosexuals/feminists/minorities/etc without question, if you don't you're an intolerant bigot

At least that's the experience I had going through high school in BC.
>>
>>31935093
Want to say that's an AR but I also want to say I'm probably wrong because I know disgracefully little about the broader world of firearms
>>
>>31935189
Huh, I went to high school in Alberta, and I can distinctly remember a class where the teacher brought up 9/11. One of the students (or more) piped up saying that he or she thought it was an inside job. Most of the other students agreed. A quick tally was done I think and the majority of students turned out to think it was fake. I don't recall the teacher telling us otherwise. I certainly don't recall being taught that you don't support LGBT/feminism/minorities then you're a bigot. In fact, I remember one kid who was openly racist, and openly homophobic. Stormed out of class more than once, and was asked to leave at least once.

Yeah he was a huge prick that most people didn't bother with, but I don't actually know of any attempts to discipline him. Personally, I used to fantasize slipping some sort of 'poison capsules' into his food when he wasn't looking so I could watch him die in front of everyone. There would probably have been a memorial, but I know for certain that most people wouldn't have given much of a shit, and few if any people would have cried. I guess BC is just a fuckload more Liberal? That, or maybe it was just the teacher. Did you get this bullshit from just one teacher, or was it a general thing?

>>31935194
Nope, not an AR, but I can kind of understand why you'd guess that.
>Long radius aperture sights
>Black-looking
>Protective ears on either side

To be fair, this is kind of an obscure one, and quite old. I wouldn't call it a 'mainstream' rifle.
>>
>>31925024
Any update on Meetup Tok?
>>
>>31935268
Well, not 'fake'. OBVIOUSLY not 'fake', but you know, an inside job, likely to get the war on the go in the Middle East. The jet fuelers were unanimous in believing it was for oil. This was probably around 2005 or so.
>>
>>31935268
Is it a rifle that was used in WWII? German?
>>
>>31935329
Nyet on both accounts. Oh, and 'Nyet' isn't a hint; it's not Russian either, not that they have any particular history of using long radius apertures. This rifle has shown up in at least ONE videogame. Well, I guess it's not right to say it wasn't used at all in WWII; it might have been given to some troops SOMEWHERE, but it had no noteable usage in WWII that I can think of. I don't think I even seen any WWII-era pictures of it being carried.

All of the SJW libfags I know are going into teaching... it's going to get worse.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8zJZDRwmEg
>>
>>31935268
The whole school was infatuated with SJW bullshit, and I guess it could have been specific to mine alone. Although I think BC in general is a lot more left-leaning than any city in the Prairies, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was common in other schools in the province as well.
>>
>>31935367
You cryptic hipster motherfucker. I'm guessing, then, that it was pretty much obsolete by the time WWII began. Was it chambered in a fairly common cartridge for the time?
>>
>>31935375
Scary shit...

>>31935371
So is this. Hopefully I'll be able to homeschool my kids... daily or weekly classes of firearm safety, to be sure. What would I get for their first firearms, I wonder. OH! I wonder if I could manage to make some sort of really simple single-shot .22lr plinking rifle. No fucking clue what I'd do about the rifled barrel though I'd love to be able to somehow make my own, but the rest of the firearm would likely just be the receiver, the cock-on-close bolt, and the trigger/sear assembly with some sort of safety involved that would both block the firing pin from hitting the rim of a chambered cartridge unless the trigger is pulled, and also the same part preventing the bolt from being removed from the rifle with the trigger is pulled. Probably some kind of Mosin-style extractor, except I'd prefer if it was controlled-feed instead of push-feed. Would a push-feed extractor detonate a rimfire cartridge? It won't be as stiff as a Mosin extractor of course. No magazine. Who knows, maybe I'd just put some kind of little extractor on the barrel itself, sort of like the ejector rod on an M1873 Colt SAA revolver. Yeah, I like that idea actually.
>>
>>31935437
Very common cartridge, still standard-issue with at least one nation. I actually wouldn't call it obsolete at all, it just ended up being replaced by other designs. The rifle in the pic was designed by a different country than it was used in. It's basically just rechambered for the country it was used in, and was rechambered in the factory upon production.

If I tell you one of the nations, it will definitely give it away if you know the rifle. If you know "disgracefully little about the wider world of firearms", then no offence, but I'm doubting you'll get it. One more hint before I give it away; a revolver came out in the same year by the same nation.
>>
>>31935486
Still standard-issue at the time of WWII. No longer standard-issue now in any notable nation that I know of.
>>
>>31935486
>>31935501
Yeah there's no chance I'm gonna guess this one. Much as I love those old rifles, their names and years and nations all kinda blend together for me
>>
>>31935545
M1917, .30-06. Was originally produced in America for Britain as the P14 in .303 British. The US opted for the costlier M1903, I think mostly because it was a bit lighter, and had a more complex rear sight that was windage adjustable. Also, the M1903 didn't have British roots. I think America would rather copy from the Germans than from the British. I consider the M1917 to be a superior design to the M1903A1. The revolver, I believe, was called the M1917 as well. Chambered in .45 ACP. If you used loose cartridges instead of moon clips, you were going to have a bad time of it when it came time to extract. Had to basically use a pencil to extract, as I recall.
>>
>>31935591
Are they hard to find? How'd you end up with that one?

Well guys, it's the dawn of the final day, when the USA blows up, one way or another. No matter what, I just want to say something to you all here in /k/anada. 2016 was a hell of a ride, what the fuck kind of drugs ended up in the water?
