Mag setup for heavy battle belt with suspenders meant to act as quasi-chest rig standalone line one.

3x3 rifle/pistol mag pouch for 3x rifle and 3x pistol mags, 3 rifle mags wide
or
2x2 rifle/pistol mag pouch and 1x1 double stack rifle mag pouch for 4x rifle mags, 2x pistol mags, and 3 rifle mags wide?

I was thinking: why don't we have some kind of infograph or pastebin or something? Obviously the beginning budget minded person might only need or want the chicom rigs, it seems like people here usually have more expensive gear, but what about people in between? Which models are good and what should we look for. The usual stuff.

2. we already have infographics covering basics of gear

lbt frequently puts overstock on sale half off, and the aws ocpc is great if you cant wait.

The second option for heavy duty use. You use the same real estate and get 1 extra rifle mag. Assuming that you have one pistol mag in the gun, if you ever run through more than 3 secondary magazines you're fucked anyway. I'd rather have the extra 30 primary rounds.

Anyone put 6 mags in their type 56? I've heard it can be done.

also besides the oil bottle in one pocket, what should we put in the other 3 since we don't have grenades.
>>
>>31877249
Yes, also fuck the guy for listing them as for FAL rifles. All pat83 gear is for R4/Galils
>>31877288
That is the intended capacity
>also besides the oil bottle in one pocket, what should we put in the other 3 since we don't have grenades.
Gauze, tourniquets, lighter,etc
>>31877188
>>31877234
I have been debating contacting one of the factories that makes them and seeing if they can make a batch of slightly custom type 56 rigs. Basically mollee where the grenade pouches are and a buckle where the tie off is.

The part that is really keeping me back is that minimum order quantity is going to be like 100 chest rigs and the fact that I only have one chest. Would anyone be interested in such rigs?
>>
>>31877325

the type 56 holds 3 mags, one in each pouch, 2 don't come close to fitting in the same pouch.
>>
>>31877325
Those things are still in production? I thought they were all old surplus, not currently made stuff. Also, I think the appeal is that they're cheap. A new version would definitely cost more.

There were some very early Pattern 83 items meant for FAL rifles. The switch from R1 to R4 happened at around the time the Pattern 83 gear was introduced.

The R1 rigs I listed were either used by the SADF or by some Bantustan (designated homeland for native Africans). You can tell that they were meant for the R1 by the fact that the pouches in the middle are separate. Compare them to the more common R4 example in pic related.

>>31877249
If you want one, email me at [email protected]

It's my listing and even though it's the last one I can get for a while I can give you a discount since they have repairs and for being a /k/omrade.

If you're looking for the R4 one, I have a used one that somehow got mixed into my last shipment I can sell to you for $30 + shipping.

you could do that. im gonna hit it with a heat gun and see how that does first

the biggest problems im seeing is paint on rubberized surfaces. my grip is the moe+ and the rail covers stay tacky for a few days. hard plastics are gtg when dry for more than 24hrs

anyone know a good place for real gear instead of fake airshit? gear such as body armour or protective helmets
>>
>>31879090
for helmet, buy ACH on ebay. not too heavy, IIIA protection. pads and suspension system are decent, but plenty of aftermarket upgrades. IIIa protection
$150-200

for armor, you need plates and plate carrier. you can buy both at skdtac
plate is $170, but you need 2
good pc run $120-$400, but keep in mind on the low end you can miss out on certain features.

too broke for that? hicom and armorwear sell cheaper lvl iv plates. same protection, but either follow an older standard of nij ratings (so less durable), heavier, weird cut (shape), etc. $100-$150 a plate, wait for sales.

finally, the best cheapest plate carrier with molle webbing for attaching pouches right now is the aws ocpc for $150. 1000d cordura, double stiched clone of the wildly popular lbt 6094. that lbt 6094 is a pc frequently used with multiple military and police units, and 50% off ones frequently pop up due to contract over runs. watch ebay for $200 lbt plate carriers (NOT LBX) and you will have the absolute BEST bang for your buck

Any SKS clips in there? Not right to have a vZ loadout without clips. Quite a bit of weight to be saved in going half ammo in mags and half ammo in clips. It's also nice to have both the option of swapping entire mags, or topping off a mag to save the full ones in reserve. Aren't those alloy vZ mags lighter than plastic AKM mags, too? Well, only slight, like maybe .05lb, but still.

Go for it. It's awesome in terms of saving weight/bulk/money.

>8 loaded vZ.58 mags (240 rounds)
About 12.8lb

>24 SKS clips (240 rounds)
About 9.6lb

>4 vZ.58 mags and 12 SKS clips (240 rounds)
About 11.2lb

>4 vZ.58 mags and 16 clips (280 rounds)
About 12.8lb

>7 loaded plastic AKM mags (210 rounds)
About 11.55lb

Fun fact; an SKS-45 can carry roughly as much ammo in clips as an M16 can carry in STANAG mags. Or, alternatively, if you reloaded you vZ.58 ONLY with SKS clips with the mag on the firearm being the only one you have, then you too could carry as much ammo as a 5.56 assault rifle. That would be kind of silly though. It's obviously FAR faster to reload an empty vZ with another mag rather than with 3 clips. Still, I find stuff like this interesting.

>8 loaded STANAG mags (240 rounds)
About 8.8lb
Less than 1lb difference from the SKS equivalent. In fact if the SKS had 22 clips (220 rounds) instead of 24, the weight would be identical.

And, yes, I totally dyed them in piss. Note: heating piss water so it impregnates the nylon smells horrible.
>>
>>31882988
That explains why it looks so tacky. Ah, the serbs. Their fondness for tacky ass nylon is only outshined for their hatred of muslims.

Wear and operate in it, removing kebab in the honor of the serbs before you.
>>
>>31883012
i agree that the chest area's got a fuckton of stuff going on, but from what i've heard the vests are seriously overbuilt and supposedly the layout was created by an FFL veteran guy, a lot of contemporary serb designs that aren't straight-up generic MOLLE are descended from it.

If you don't want to buy a cover, painting it is pretty easy. Just make sure you hold the spray can further away that seems logical, and if you're doing snakeskin/ranger helmet, get a larger than normal piece of mesh - like 1/4" or slightly larger, instead of something small like a laundry bag.

Got my ALICE rig in today, looks pretty good for being old as hell. For some reason, 3 pmags will fit in the ammo pouches, but 3 hex mags won't from what I can tell they're the exact same size, but I'll have to keep playing around with them. Besides that, after 2 water bottles and 2 mag pouches, I really don't have much more real estate left. I guess that's what I guess for ordering a M, but it was the smallest that would still fit. Need to bleach or somehow clean those water bottles, they stink like shit. I think I'm going to soak the whole rig in some Dr. Bronner's this weekend and let it air dry.

I need a buttpack for my belt rig so I can carry around my flashlight/strobe/folding knife/survival kit/etc. It needs to have internal elastics and dividers to keep things from clinking together. I've been considering buying a fannypack in the proper color because it would be able to rest in my lumbar region and quickly flip to my front side for access. Can I get a recommendation on a good fanny pack for this task? Barring that, is there a sure way to quickly detach a buttpack and flip it around to the front for easy access? I can't find things efficiently when I'm reaching behind my back, and it's a pain in the ass to put stuff back in. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Buy molle mounted hydration pack, recommend 2-liter.

Buy molle panels, and go to local tailor shop and ask if they can double stitch into alice pack, or simply stitch that shit in place.

This is usually easier (perhaps less awkward) if near a military post, they do it all the time from my experience.

My RLCS and grenade pouches came in today.

The woodland pouch is for a first aid kit; I'm getting a matching ranger green/olive drab one ASAP.

What do you guys think? It's my first attempt at building a fighting rig for my Lee Enfield. I based the pouch arrangement off of WW1 webbing.

Also, is it normal for the RLCS belt to be a little loose?

I had to remove the middle back section since it was still very loose around my mid section/waist even when I tightened everything in all the way. I was planning to use the panel for a buttpack, but it looks like I won't have room after adding the IFAK pouch if I leave the rig as in pic related >>31887431

WUT?!
Didn't even know that we europeans are allowed to have such weapons!!!

I'm in france......is this achievable for me?
>>
>>31887482
France has some of the best ("best") laws in Europe. You're still shit compared to America but you're way better than most of western Europe. You can buy tactical weapons with proper permits.

You want to look into Class B (classe b) licensing. It requires gun club membership (club de tir), 18+ years old, and shooting safety classes.

See here for some details:

Do you faggots ever wash any of your carriers/vest/load bearing equipment when you get it all sweaty, or do you just lay it all out and let it dry? Or do you just let it accumulate your DNA in the hopes that you can better bond with it?

there are good sized alice first aid pouches with heavy duty snaps and then there are small first aid bandage pouches. you could also just attach a modern molle ifak to the top of your buttpack or fill your rear most weak side magazine pouch with an ifak and mark it with a cross.

pls respond, I'm actually curious here. Just wore all my stuff around for the first time, and ran around in it to get accustomed to the weight. I plan on doing this at least a few times a week, if not more, and I'm unsure of what to do with it. I've just taken the carrier all apart (everything off it, plates out,) and let them all air out.

Should it be washed? Is that a bad idea? (I think it sounds like a bad idea, personally.)

what you nerds think of battle belts? not a gq, but im thinking of getting a surefire bb or something similar for the range and in case anything does ever happen.

would probs set it up 2x 1primary&secondary mag pouches, 1x double primary pouch, and dumpbag on left and on the right knife, holster, maybe a radio pouch.

hey /gq/ how do you attach a DC3R to a 6094? does anyone make some kind of fastex adapters to mount on the carrier so the rig can pop on and off?

Female ITW buckles, might need some webbing to space it just right. Side buckles are self explanatory if you have a normal cummerbund.

Did you manage to track down a light? A head-mounting one would do the trick.

I was the dude who suggested going with a non-.45 and non-full-sized Glock to save weight, as I recall. You've tried various different pistols but always came back to the G21 so fair enough. I remember there being a discussion regarding lights.

Best quality is hands down Outdoor Research but some of their sport models dont meet FR reqs.

We were issued Blackhawk balaclavas in Afghanistan and they were very comfortable but some people dislike that most of their gear is now made overseas, at least partially.

They haven't said for real but most likely it's a contract stipulation from SOCOM. They don't like it when low-vis stuff they use goes out to the public.
>>
>>31891569

Splav gear is dependant on what you get. I once bought a fake leather belt and it fell apart immediately. I then bought a normal belt

http://www.splav.ru/goodsdetail.aspx?gid=20130131145024812973

And it has lasted me to this day. Mine doesn't even have the Splav logo, that's how long ago it was.

I also bought a flora M21 and really put it through its' paces. It's very durable, i managed to tear it a bit falling down a shaft, but the tear didn't spread like some of those "rip stop" items out there. What bothers me with this one and some other manufacturers, is they put too few belt loops at the back of the pants.
>>
hey guys, buying a plate carrier this week. is banshee still good? or is the stitching shit nowadays?
>>
>>31894640
the old ones were 1000d cordura now they are 500d and the newest models have a bunch of extra shit but they are more expensive.
>>
>>31894640
500D is more than adequate while being lighter but at their price point they're firmly in Mayflower/JPC territory.
>>
>>31889370
That shit sounds fucking heavy. For the marginal (Chest area) protection, versus mobility/speed and endurance, I think I'd rather go without
>>
>>31896129
>>31889370
To be fair though, I wouldn't mind owning that set-up.
