Well as a noguns when I went to the store they tried to shill me into a new springfield XD series or M&P Shield, I've shot them both and don't particularly like them.
I bought a Ruger p85 instead because I like the ergos and it was cheap, I just used them as an FFL transfer. This is a home defense gun so a full size duty is fine too, but I might carry it in Winter.

I'm an active LEO, and I stopped using the Blackhawk with my off-duty for similar reasons, after I noticed the button starting to drag and act up, and after a plainclothes officer in my command experienced his Blackhawk not releasing his firearm when he had to draw it.

It's a shit holster anyway, frankly - it's too chunky to conceal, and it's doesn't have enough retention (or reliable enough retention for that matter) to be a safe choice for open carry or duty use. Spend the bucks on a decent Safariland retention holster if you want to open carry. The only reason the Blackhawk is so widely used is because it's one of the cheapest options on the market.
