The AR-10 platform isn't really standardized right now, but there are a few circles that are the same spec (KAC and DPMS, Aero supposedly too but unverified)

For one I would probably just go with a complete rifle unless you are 110% certain you are mixing parts from the right makers.

What's the consensus on ZQI ammo? There's a Wal-Mart near me that has a bunch of the stuff for $10/20 rds and I'm considering getting some before it sells out since apparently they're no longer being restocked.

Got a good deal on an M1A a month ago, but would have just gone with the PTR I had my eye on if I knew Springfield was going to screw me and take forever to send the damn thing (store owner gave me a discount because he was in the middle of making an order anyway and could get a free pistol out of it). Still, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it should finally be in next week.

I want to put a PTR-91 on layaway soon. I'm planning on getting a wide handguard for it anyway, so I was looking at the A3S without the top rail but it's out of stock at Atlantic. On the other hand, they have the A3R with the wide handguard but with a welded top rail in stock.

I kinda wanted no top rail and a non-parkerized finish, but should I just go ahead and get the A3R and live with the top rail?

Also, mags - I'm planning to order 20 from Brownell's. Are the surplus mags they have usually in good condition?
