I'm picking out a red dot for my SBR.
So far I'm pretty well decided on a Trijicon RMR, though I don't know which MOA dot.
Sort of leaning toward the 1moa due to the long-range application but it'll be a 250 yard (hills, forest and mountains of Alaska) gun at most. More likely within 100 yards. So therefore I'm leaning toward the 3.25moa.

Permanent fund dividends come out tomorrow. $1000 check coming in - can get any optic in that price range. Steer me in the right direction?

Dear /arg/,
I'm relatively new to the AR game, and have one that I bought for 600 as an almost A1 build. The problem is that it doesn't have an A1 upper receiver, and instead just has a regular ass flat top w/ rails and a detachable carry handle slapped on. I've been poking around gunbroker, and found an A1 stripped receiver at a good going price (until the market inevitably shits itself 15 minutes before the auction ends). I'm really making an effort to include my dad in the process as a kind of bonding thing, but it's sorta hard. He was in the military in the vietnam era, and as with +99% of all vietnam vets, if something is even obliquely related to the military, he feels qualified to spout complete bullshit about it constantly. I was bidding on the receiver and running everything by him via email and he sent me a lengthy one which included the phrase.
