On the topic of splitting threads into loadouts vs technical stuff and philosophy of use. I think they are easily incorperated together since you should have a reason as to why you chose what you chose and why it's setup a certain way, I think if people posted bits and pieces of advise from using their gear and what they have found that works with each post instead of just a picture, it would be helpful and teach us more as a group.
In other news, ill be taking my fleck, multimeme, and digi flora camping this weekend in GA to test out the camos here in this weird time between fall and summer. Ill bring my gear too to show people what it looks like over the camos as well

Chicoms they're just chestrigs
You put them on; you shoot things.
You put them on over a slick; you shoot things while protecting your vitals.
it's convenient for vehicles and backpack work.

Guys, I want a war belt and nothing else. I hear condor is trash but they seem to be the only thing I can find that looks simple and minimal. Is there any options that are like pic related, in a non shit brand?

Also I want OD or black but I guess I can do coyote if there is no options. I fuckin hate multi cam.
>>
>>31567191
Did you use those buckles meant for fixing backpack to attach the straps in your chicom? That seems like a good idear
>>
>>31569364
Yes, there indeedily are options!

You can get an Eagle Industries USMC warbelt for very cheap, even right from Amazon.com. It is a legit company with a record for durable gear.

ATS also makes effective, fairly cheap products.

Hell, for cheap you can buy a USGI FLC vest and remove the belt portion and wear it stand alone for something of higher build quality than Condor.

You can even grab a police duty belt and some belt keepers for cheap and attach stuff to it. It's about a $15 investment and you can find them in any solid color you want.

Speaking of, does anyone know of a good solution for keeping hydration on my plate carrier but still being able to wear a backpack on top of it? Or am I better off putting my HOH in the backpack and clipping it on? I try to keep all my essentials on one piece of kit...
>>
Anybody know of any pouches/chest rigs for SKS clips that aren't the Chicom chest rig or the Slav leather pouches? I've got a Haley FlatPack for hydration and I'd like something I can clip into it. I'm looking at the HSGI AO chest rig now, but I want to get a feel for options I might not know of. 7.62 Tactical has some pouches yhat look like they would suit my needs, but I've never heard of the company before. Are they any good?

It has MBITR pockets on either side, I use those for spare mags. as for what I carry in it, it hanges based on what I'm doing. Normally for (((innawoods))) I'll take a water bottle in each of the MBITR pouches, a Source 2L in the bladder area, change of clothes, 3-4 pairs of socks, if it's warm I'll stick my softshell and hardshell in the main compartment. I really don't use the big stretch area on the outside unless I'm bringing NODs, which are currently at TNVC getting a new housing so rip those. (Don't tell anybody but it also works well for 'milsim' as an assault pack)
>>
>>31570194
Fucking phone. It changes* a lot. It's just a good utility 1 day pack that can be strapped onto the side of a ruck.

Your best bet, IMO, is the Velocity Systems Operator Utility Belt (OUB). HSGI has a few good products too, but the OUB is the more efficient design.
>>
>>31570823

Nope. That's an MBC Russian knockoff of the D3CR-H. I dislike the fact that they blatantly ripped off the design, but apparently the construction isn't bad. It's not Haley Strategic-level quality. but it's significantly cheaper.

Level 4 is a designation given by NIJ (national Institute of justice) to plates that meet their criteria for penetration resistance, backface deformation and other measurements. If you would like to know more you can google to the testing standards

I can give you the link to where I got my forearm guards. The Multicam is not exact color wise due ot being made of a dry bag material so it's the real waterproof stuff. Personnel experience for experimenting with my armor system do not run shin guards unless you're a sentry or not running large fields or innawoods.
Forearms is what you want since the weight is so low its like wearing heavy clothing. IF they are standalone ditch the 3a inserts when you get these. They weigh just as much as the 4x8s in carrier. Not sure if those are standalone or not.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/282142978124?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I bought 2 pairs and shot one of them up they are the real deal. IF you still want shin guards you can always repurpose the nij 06 3a inserts

Simple it would distribute weight better for both your hands to gain access to. It depends on your body mass index however if you're built like a bull who has problems with fitting thru doorways ways its in a good spot leave it as it is then. My experience with dump pouches is simply this THEY ALL SWAY and bounce around. When it was along the spine it reduced the swaying from running it 5-7 o clock position.
Now I don't run a dump pouch anymore becuase I would rather just swap my mag with another one in the esstec pouch. I will try them out upside down, It may speed up my reload times since it reduces action from hand to magazine in theory. Will post result once my minimus V2 arrives.

Amazon, it's a chinese knock-off of an american made antenna and is probably not much better than your stock rubber duck. Also you'll lose 3-6dbi. per connector for your super tacitcal remote antenna, over a minimum of two connectors is 6-12dbi loss on a 5W ht. Hope you weren't planning on talking to anyone.
>>
>>31575291

The antenna is where the 'rubber meets the road'. Both a nice car and a crap car will drive like shit if you put junkyard tires on them. Same with your radio and antennas, they affect everything from how much signal you put out to how well your radio will reject noise and interference. Most antennas are measured in db compared to the stock rubber duck and even then they usually only offer a few db, definitely not enough to make up for the losses incurred running a remote antenna. In fact, when you see the real oper8tors run a remote antenna, it's always a fuckhuge folded one for this reason alone.
>>
>>31575375
Keep your draw side clean, faggot.
>>
>>31575393
I'm tracking on that. I've carried the "fuckhuge" one plenty of times. I realize if I want to get the most out of it I should completly get better systems all the way around. Just was hoping for something better than nothing type of thought. I don't have thousands of dollars to drop on radio equipment, so I know whatever I get will be shit. But a polished shit is still better than nothing

>>
>>31575291
>>31575266
That is not me responding. It is not an Amazon antenna, it is made in America.

I have no information on hand about the loss through these connectors. Though the antenna is an upgrade from the stock unit so dont know how that effects the db loss. Im not sure how far you were expecting to talk but ive only tested up to 2 miles in a suburban area @8w and we excellent audio quality.

I'm not Armorus, but I think I can help.

It's basically plug and play. The 6094 should have a slot cut into the shoulder pad that you can insert the deltoid protector's velcro tab into. You can then secure the shoulder tab by sandwiching it between the shoulder strap's hook and loop sides.

It's thick enough that it kinda distorts the shape of the glove and makes gripping things problematic. Is this normal for Hatch or what?

>>31582694
You told me in a GQ a while back that you liked the pupper vest. Can you elaborate? Whats good, whats not, etc. Also any reccomendations on where to get it? Amazon maybe?
>>
>>31582911
For a $45 vest the stitching is very good, it can support her weight (there are handles for picking up/repelling), it's lightweight so it doesn't kill the dogs back, adjusts easily. I don't really have any complaints, the only thing I can see breaking is the buckles but that would require some hard use.

My dog loves wearing it so it must be somewhat comfortable. I got it from Amazon but they have a website with more colors/sizes, size chart, and other dog gear.

when I say support her weight I mean picking her up by the vest

Hey guys, total gear noob, but I have a few questions.

I'm planning on running a plate carrier over my shirt and sweater, but underneath a hard shell. I plan on running a small chest rig or PC for 3-4 AR mags, 2 pistol mags, and a rip away FAK only. Is there a problem with this kind of setup? Is it pointless to run a separate chest rig over a slick PC?

Speaking of jackets, what are you guys using for hard shells? I have only one durable jacket but I can't wear it in temperate weather because it's so thick. I'd just like to have something for light rain and wind blocking but durable enough to not rip when I hit the ground. I work outside a lot.

Thanks guys.

If those do not last long I would recommend you try the ELK skin or deerskin gloves from aerostich. Material wise they are more flame resistant and with fewer seams should last a very long time. Once broken the gloves will get stained to match your earth toned camo.

>>31575839
Correct I would have answered similarly. It was a nightmare to find ballistic shoulder pads in a proper camo, that would be compatible with the upscaling requirements I have.If you search at the right time and get lucky you may find a BAE systems ballistic shoulder pad set in OCP or an eagle ind Ballistic shoulder pad with inserts set in coyote. Also will be running them similarly but with the overlap underneath the shoulder pads since they allow that I may even try to run them through my suspenders aswell to redirect the load bearing to my deltoids and biceps a bit.
>>31574402
I just recently ordered 2 pairs of the 4x8 plates from the picture you posted that I managed to track down. The weight to round stoppage matches its material composition accurately. Requested a 5th one from seller to test against my M193 I have on hand should pass with flying colors. Will be using it for the gaps between the lower back above the belt and the lower abdomen above the belt that is left exposed normally. Your idea saved me roughly $530 with a lead time from a questionable company So thank you very much saves me 1 lb in weight overall.

Yes, you're correct. It's a TQS M9 medic bag. The bag has been sold by several different manufacturers over the years (TQS, AWS, TSSI). If you are interested in picking one up, you can find them on Fleabay from time to time. You can also find them on TSSI's and AWS's websites. AWS happens to sell them for much cheaper than TSSI (AWS might even be the one who makes the bags for TSSI). It's an incredibly hefty bag for it's size due to the heavy duty materials used, you can tell just by picking it up. The pack is noticeably heavy even when it's empty.

No problem. Glad you found the listing as I forgot to post it for you. I had the kevlar arm/leg guards you mentioned in my watch list from before You might want to ask the seller if he has anymore of these too.

He's sold out of the shoulder armor honestly thats a hell of a deal for those who got them. Already have some BAE 3A shoulder armor along with rifled rated bicep armor so I am good there. Your right however rifle rated lightweight shoulder armor is VERY rare indeed all I can find is soft armor. I will have to go to stealth armor systems for some flexible sic3 shoulder armor inserts. Should be about the same weight. 200 for the set I would assume

I've personally contacted Alan over the last 2 years bought a his best soft armor and eagle accessory inserts there. They are pricy and I do not know how environmentally sound they are since his panels skipped the water submersion test. IF you need one off custom cut flexible rifle armor he's who you talk to.I was gonna call him about making a one off sic3 shoulder armor for me to keep weight down. Will buy a eagle LVAC from him for my balcs panels and call it day. Only place to get flexible rifle armor in the world civilian wise. I Recommend Hoplite if you want somthing environmentally sound and don't need custom cut armor. Shoulders are a very difficult area to up armor for rifles.I will should look like a gen 0 ODST when my setup is complete.

The point of deltoid armor isn't really to protect your shoulder though. If you study a little anatomy you will realize that a flanking shot through your shoulder will hit your heart or lungs. Odds are if a round traverses your chest cavity lengthwise you're fucked. The shoulder armor is to mitigate that risk.

GQ-

Do you think that with the continuing spread of thermal optics, and now the filtration to even insurgent forces (not to mention potential unfriendly nations or proxies), we will see military uniforms designed to defeat or lessen thermal detection?

Things along the lines of thermal resistant lined parkas, hoodies, or other overclothing to reduce thermal signature?

Not memeing, legit curious since it's a factor that has thus far been ignored by military planners who have enjoyed a technological advantage over enemies, but that gap is quickly shifting.

Not necessarily hard to see why, though. It's not terrible, but most people associate gear with cmbat which means you usually want something other than black because black pretty much sucks for every situation (including night). AR is fine (optic is arguable), 1911 isn't really a worthwhile modern combat handgun., etc.

Nice RG JPC though :^

In that kind of a situation, I think the gear I have fits the bill. To each their own I suppose. Thanks for the r8 m8.

I'm just trying to explain rather than critique. When I wear my PC I usually throw it over a t-shirt and wear some combat pants or BDU pants; that being said I've got a full set of camo clothes just because.

What you've got is definitely more than enough, but most people wouldn't consider it optimal, but whatever suits you. The only thing that really tickles my autism is the mismatched plate carrier accessories in black, but hey I've got RG with Multicam accessories so who am I to judge.

Are slings really that necessary? Wouldn't it start to suck having all the weight bearing on one point of your shoulder?
>>
>>31588177
It's across your body, and it helps distribute the weight well. Also, the patrol low carry still has much of the weight carried in the hands, just supported by the sling.

Slings allow you to transition to a pistol without dropping the rifle.

Slings allow you to push the rifle onto your back when you need your hands free for other things.

Slings give you retention with your rifle.

Basically, if you plan to be out and about any significant amount of time with a rifle or in situations where you'll be transitioning to a pistol or other task, a sling is vital.

Those vests are standard GI issue, and the zipper is very durable. If it breaks though, it doesn't matter because you can still just use the chest buckles to close it up.

FLCs are pretty under rated gear that work great as long as you aren't wearing armor (and even with armor they still work at least "kinda ok" as long as you adjust them right).
