They may have it.

The reason nothing fits the C39 and C39V2 is because Century is retarded. The first C39 had proprietary furniture and the V2 has "AKM standard" however you have to completely fuck up normal AKM furniture for it to fit.

I just want to get something before the election, and I am leaning toward a weapon with a folding stock. 7.62 obviously for ammo compatibility.

I want to get at least one AK for my collection, maybe more in the future, but I'm not sure what to go with. I've been an AR boy up until now and have just kept a handful of lowers with multiple barrels, uppers and other miscellaneous accessories.

Should I go for 5.45 or 7.62? Fixed stock, underfolder or side folder? What countries and companies are good or should be avoided? I know IO is shit, but not really sure about the rest, like DDI and James River Armory.

I'd say go 7.62 for your first AK. 5.45 if you fall in love. Fixed stock and sidefolders are great, underfolders are slightly uncomfortable but fine if you really want the look. Avoid IO and Century's RAS47. C39V2 is controversial, I'd stay away personally.

WASR, NPAP, and Arsenal are good-to-go.
People have mixed feelings about DDI, but they seem decent.
AK63D for an entry-level underfolder if you can find a good deal ($700 or less).
I don't know much about James River Armory.

My lgs has an OPAP for 650 and Saiga that has a pistol grip and normal stock, but the stock sporter hand guard and gas tube for 750.

Between those two, which would be the better choice in your opinion? I admit I'm drawn to the OPAP because of the wood furniture, but I'm not sure if a Serbian AK is worse than a Russian one.

That's a good choice to be making considering the state of the AK market right now. OPAPs are built like tanks but slightly heavier than a standard AK (thicker RPK style receiver). That may not bother you. Serbian/Yugo AKs have their own style furniture and do not have as many aftermarket options in that department.

Saigas are on the way out, if you want a real Russian AK you may not get another chance. I'm pessimistic about the chances of the Izhmash import ban being lifted. You could always have the front end converted later for the proper AK103 look, but that's more time and money.

As with any gun purchase, look over the rifle thoroughly before committing. Here's a good guide:

Thanks for the video! I'll be sure to go over each rifle thoroughly before deciding.

Based on what you said about each rifle I'm kind of torn now. The idea of getting a Russian one is appealing, especially if there won't be any more. I looked up some conversions and the process to do it and realized I can't do it myself, not particularly handy and don't have the space for a press. I'm not sure if it's worth pouring more money into at that point to have it shipped off and converted by someone else.

The OPAP sounds pretty good by comparison. I do like the wood furniture on it. I'm also not too bothered by the aftermarket since all I intend to put on either one is a sight and sling.

Thanks for all the help anon.
>>
Hey is it normal for the fore ends of the handguards can sorta squeeze together the slightest bit?

Unless they are so rusted that the follower and/or spring won't move freely, then no, it'll be OK. If your worried about it a lot, take some oil and fine grit sand paper to it to get the rust off, then spray paint it, and bake it in the oven on I think 300° for about ten minutes to set in the paint.

>>
>>31005294
The key to driving pins out is securing the pinned object so that it's rock solid. You don't want to the FSB to be moving at all when you're tapping on the pin. That way you get all the energy from the punch transferred directly to the stuck pin. It makes a huge difference. Just laying it on the carpet isn't enough, you want it in a vise as secure as possible.

If you really can't get it out, even after PB blasting it, you'll have to drill it out and replace then pin (possibly with an oversized one) when you want to put the FSB back on.

npap 750
wasr 650
>>
>>31006756
That's a hard one. I got my NPAP DF for 600, adding up to right around 700 with tax, shipping, and FFL fee. If you really want the NPAP, I'd suggest buying it from here. http://www.gunbroker.com/item/577326843

As the other Anon said, WASRs are more compatible. If you want to swap out furniture for polymer or tacticool or whatever else, you'll have full freedom to do so. NPAP only accepts NPAP handguards, but the pistol grips are universal.

Having shot other people's WASRs before, I prefer the NPAP. The cheekweld isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be, and wrapping it with paracord makes a full cheekweld entirely tolerable even during long shooting sessions.

There fucking shitty from the reports on AKFiles and Facebook. Rust painted over and shitty fit.
>>
>>31005840
I can't guarantee that a more secure setup will get your pins out, because sometimes they can be rusted and seized up in there and you pretty much have to drill them out, but any tricky pin is never going to be punched out laying on 2x4's. There's just way too much give.

In the past I've had pinned items that I was too lazy to put into a vise, or maybe it was a tricky thing to lock into a vise and I was too lazy to make a vise block for it, so I just tried punching it out on the floor or on a piece of wood. Lots of frustration with very little progress, usually end up scratching up whatever I'm working on. Move it to the vise and actually take the time to lock it in place rock solid, and the pin comes out like it was barely in there in the first place. What the other anon said about sharp impact to overcome the friction is totally correct.

Hey slavaboos

I don't really like AK's. I've had several over the years and always wind up selling them. That said, with the impending threat of Madame President I want one in the safe to round out my collection.

I really wanted an SLR107 but looks like that's not in the cards. Local shop has a nice SLR104-FR though for $800...I like 5.45 but the difference in mag prices between 74's and 47's always throws my heeb nose in the air.

Should I still get it or hold out for an x39 gun in the same price range?

Group buys. There's one that goes on here and there's a guy planning on bringing in a bunch of mags on reddit's ak47... board? Whatever you call those things. Make an account on akfiles and wait forever to get approved and hunt the marketplace, that shit is a goldmine if you're willing to sift through it.

Outside of that you're paying around $40 per mag, which wouldn't nearly suck as much if anyone actually had something else you wanted to order that made the shipping worth it.

Gonna replace my N-PAP with a High Standard AK after I sell it. Is there anything Better for the $700~ price range? Is High Standard a good brand?
>>
>>31002688
I'm not going to lie I am a bit dissapointed to gear that about IO. Their company is close by to where I live and I thought it would he dope to have a Florida made AR and a Florida made AK.
>>
>>31011922
Since you are too retarded to screen cap your browser, the IO series of AKs is meant for you.
>>
>>31011935
I took this like 3 days ago when I was talking to my buddy I'm selling my N-PAP, I was just too lazy to take a screencap.

I've got three of them and though I've not had spots of rust under the paint I have been less than enthralled with the overall quality of the magazines. Their finish appears to be a cheap black paint that is prone to flaking and each of my mags have multiple areas where paint bubbled up. Personally I'm going to stick with buying real surplus mags with a proper finish.

Go make one. See what happens.
I'm guessing there's pretty limited topics to have more than a one-off thread here and there. But maybe there's more to talk about than I think.
The problem is that 99% of us either have a 16" vz58 or a vz2008 in 762x39, or a canadian model with longer barrel. Almost nobody has the 556 or pistols.

It's definitely the most fun rifle in my collection shot per shot, and accurate for me too.
But I think you'll have to either give up your dreams or just spend what it takes to get one.
Keep in mind, the scope alone is about $300 of the price in a psl package. So you'd still be up to 1100+ buying a vepr and posp scoping it too.
Between the spring loaded butt, 10rd mags, good brake, general looks, and butterflies in your stomach every time you see juba using one in a movie or on the history channel, it's got some pretty decent value still.
There's one at a LGS going for about 1500, but that's the only one I've seen in person for a long time. I can offer store details if you had any serious interest in buying it, seems better than gunjoker deals and you could maybe talk them down a bit.
>>
>>31013711
I saw a guy selling one at a local gun show. The dealer was cool enough to let me hold it and I wanted to buy it on the spot. I think it was $1200-1300
If I hadn't just bought a usp I would have seen if he would put it on layaway.

It's a vepr-1v in 556. Good luck finding one now.
A batch of 1v rifles were imported shortly before the ukraine stuff happened. They sold out overnight, prices doubled, then it's been dry ever since. You need tons of patience to even find one on gunbroker etc.
On the plus side, there's no reason I know of that more couldn't be imported. But it's been a long time now and IDK if it'll ever happen.
An aes-10b in 762x39 is the other option that instantly comes to mind for me. But even those are hard to find, and they're not $500 any more. You'll probably be spending 1000+ now that they're gone. Again, another batch of those could hit our shores any time too.

>>31013913
I've seen the AES, and I'm definitely looking for 7.62, already got a 5.45 AK so I want to be able to cover both calibers and magazine sets. I've heard conflicting things about it though, being CAI, I plan on running the gun relatively hard

Imported by CAI is not the same as "built by" CAI.
And if it's not obvious already, I'm also not a fan of doubling up on calibers too much. None of my 4 aks are similar to eachother, different stocks, calibers, barrel lengths, etc etc.
>>
>>31014095
Are they Trijicon? I know you can send them into get replaced at the very least.
>>
>>31014095
Not him, but tritium vials are replaceable and actually cheap to buy online. Read up on the procedure and try to get yours out before you order new ones. I have some dead trijicon sights and have tried everything to get my vials out, with no luck. Apparently some are easier to replace than others.
Also take care to not break the vials as tritium is radioactive.

C'mon anon, it isn't a complete collection without one
>>
>>31014172
underfolders should almost count, they're almost as uncomfortable as a shovel and also make it take 3x as long to line up your irons since your eyes don't land in the right spot
>>
>>31014116
True, but I've still heard problems. I was leaning mostly towards a Polish RPK imported by CAI cause I trust their factories more than the Gypsies, and I can't part with 3k for a Russian one. I'm basically budgeting up to 1500 for this one and hoping for 11-1200. But in the back of my mind I was considering an M72 kit and getting Nodak receiver and chrome barrel but will it take Russian RPK furniture?
>>
>>31010905
Would buying one to convert into a standard type akm be worth it? What about buying a parts kit and redoing it ddi style? They're cheap and aks so it's hard for me to not see some possibilities there.
