Anyone here done it?
Since DefCad is gone, is FOSSCAD the only community for this now?
Any guides or books on the subject yet?

I'm sure I'll get the boring "3D printing is not the best way to make a DIY firearm" speech, but fuck it.
>>
Good quality 3D printers run about a grand, and for $1500 you can get a Ghost Gunner 2 CNC machine that's essentially point-n-click for finishing 80% lowers.

Or you can just get a proper mill and do whatever you want without trying to get thermoplastic to do shit it shouldn't.
>>
I have a file to post but last time I did I got banned for a day. Sorry guys.
>>
>>30957149
what is that a 3d printed 10/22?
>>
The point is 3D printing tech is becoming more available. Metal 3D printing is already out there and will be widely available in the next 5-8 years.

3D printed guns will be the next big thing the Dems will be going after. Hopefully that will prove our point that Illegal guns are the issue in America/Canada and law abiding citizens should be allowed to be armed without restrictions targeted at people who won't follow them anyway.
>>
>>30957524

what is the file?

>>30957149
that you alkalifeldspar? If not, apologies (it's some guy on /r/canadaguns that makes 3d 10/22s)

>Metal 3D printing is already out there and will be widely available in the next 5-8 years.
Laser-metal Sintering is going to an industrial print technique for a long time due to how much raw power it takes to run a job.

I know the Ar/k/ has a Vz61 lower that seems breddy gud. No clue if it works though, but the 9mm mak might be mild enough for it to not explode.

Retard-easy setup that doesn't require any metalworking skill (welding, milling, etc.) that has a much larger selection of firearms than 80%.

Pic related is a Mauser c96. Try finding an 80% for that.
>>
>>30957583
What, you don't have three phase 208v in your basement?
>>
>>30959140
There are additive printers that will print in carbon fiber. Granted the materials are expensive, the technology is already good enough, and getting better by the day.

The M-16/AR-15 system is probably the single most suitable firearm for 3D printing, as the reciever with the S/N is actually one of the least-stressed components on the thing, and there's no real problem with thickening critical places on it. On other guns it probably won't work as well, as you'd need the printed part to actually survive stressed applied to it.
>>
>>30959099
why not try designing some spots in the frame to be reinforces with steel rods or something after printing? im a machinist so idk how 3d printers work. always wanted one though.

No because ill spend thousands on the machine but wont have any ammo for it (uk)

OK we got 3d printed guns. Right?
We got pic related. (3D printed quad). Right?
Then we got a world full of attention seekers.

Just saying, think about it. Who's gonna be first?

This production technique would be largely wasted on something like a firearm frame, and would be prohibitively expensive. Maybe if you're a millionare.

I made a 10/22 with a 3d printed receiver. It worked fine. 300 dollar printer, too.
>>
>>30957149
I printed the receiver in three parts that I glued together and that fixed any shifting issues for me
