It's that time of year again, and camping is in full swing right now.

Out of curiosity, how do you usually sleep out there? Tent, Tarp, Camper, etc...? Do you usually use a sleeping bag? What guns do you usually bring?

Also feel free to share any camping tips for comfort or practicality. I usually just sleep in the back of my pickup, but I'm thinking of getting pic related.
>>
who the fuck is out camping in this heat?

South Florida here, I can only go camping during nov-feb. I sleep in a tent. Regular ccw j frame plus 12 ga pump filled with buck in case of gators/skunk apes.

I camp in a place where it is in the 30s at night until late june, so I usually just use 1 side of a pup ten as a lean-to and make a fire nice and close. Then I bring a tarp to sleep on with a single wool blanket.

For guns, I like to bring my AK, but only if it is a 1 night trip, otherwise it is way too bulky. Most of the time, I just bring my P64.

Hammock and tarp combo with mossy 500

I don't fuck with any ground level sleeping after I had a snake crawl into my sleeping bag as a kid.

As for camping tips; don't buy surplus trioxane fuel tabs. They burn for only half the time new ones do. Still good fire starters though. Also you aren't camping if you don't bring pic related.

Haven't been camping in a little while, but I did just get a nice hammock. Lightweight (1.5 lbs, maybe less) and it stuffs into a small pouch. Should be good for summer/innadesert, provided I have a couple of trees near each other.

I learned this from /out/ I tried it out just for fun and it was cool but haven't actually used it camping. Just a flecktarn tarp (New England) hung between some trees and a Lithohammock below it. The hammock holds 400 pounds so if you need to you can hang your pack and rifle under it too to protect them from rain. And it's wicked comfortable.

That's my brother btw
>>
Man, Northern Arizona can get pretty creepy at night, especially in the Sitgreaves area; there's just an unnatural stillness that you get out there some nights, and often times you can find bizarre old items, abandoned structures, and even weird sounds in the wilderness. My tip: don't watch Fire In The Sky before heading out for a few days.
>>
>>30783246
Looks like one hell of a night
>>
>>30783195
water, lightweight pants, good boots, some sort of bug netting is essential, plan on ground sleeping trees are few and far between.
>>
>>30783487
That's about what I figured. Plus I'll be taking a lot of water.
>>
>>30783416
I always get a little on edge at night if im alone. That said its not becasue of ayylmaos. Its more the Skinwalker/boogieman thing. Also coyotes, forests are dark as fuck in northern Wisconsin and you cant tell where shit is.
>>
Usually just use a tarp if windy. If it's nice, I just use a pad and sleep on the ground. Too lazy to set up all kinds of stuff if I'm going to be taking it down the next day to move to another spot/go home.
>>
>>30782575
In a surp 3 bag sleep system on a pt mat under a tarp up against a tree, might dig myself in a little bit just depends on the spot I'm in. I keep a few small LED lanterns lit around my spot and glow sticks to the shit hole. Always sleep with my AR.

On a tangent, I always end up with some ridiculous camping stories on the account of my friend who's kind of 'countrified' after living in the boonies for most of his adult life. Some of his finer moments:

>Drinking some disgusting-ass water from a low creek when a spring source was only 100 yards out and visible, and filtering said water with a used hankie to 'get rid of any buggers' that were in it
>Melting his mechanix gloves off his hands while holding them up to the fire to get warm
>Often draws his Charter Arms .44 and dives straight into the ground to crawl every time we see ANY movement in the forest
>Shovels down cold MRE lentils stew while making slurping sounds
>Carries a shit ton of tactical pouches with nothing in them except more pouches

I love the guy like a brother, but goddamn he sure does some goofy shit sometimes

Oh shit, I remember hearing about that. I had hiked up in the valley where he died a few years before on a different trek. All Eno shit, except the sleeping bag. Sleeping bag is just some mummy bag I throw in there. Not sure what I'll do when it gets colder.

Only thing I dislike about it is that I feel very vulnerable. It's much harder to get out of a hammock+bugnet+tarp quickly than a tent. Also, the setup and takedown time is longer compared to a tent.

My man of negro persuasion.

The tarp I purchased is just leaning towards the fuckall huge end of things. Is there a recommended size for camping and BOB purposes.
>>
>>30784377
What state?
>>
Florida. Hammock, tarp, cheap folding knife, canteen, lighter, flask of bourbon, paracord, water filter, ziploc bag of baby wipes and a Beretta 92FS.
I don't bring food. Usually try to use edible plants as much as I can. Smilax shoots, Opuntia prickly pear, blackberries, grass seeds, cattail, whatever I can find, and I try to add a couple with each trip. Figure it might be useful someday; I'm surprised how much there is to eat just wandering around the woods.

Eh, really no need for the CCW when its legal without it unless you travel a lot, and I guess it helps since so many people want CCW for backpage transactions (which are all fucking ass here anyway)

I think my dad went to Diamondback a few years ago before constitutional carry came into effect for his CCW.
>>
>>30782575

It depends greatly on where I am. Usually a tent though. I am also the king of getting cheap tent upgrades. Spent 70 bucks on a shitty 4 person tent from walmart. Spent 20 on a 4 person coleman I could kinda stand up in.

Spent 35 on a 7 person tent I can stand up in and have an orgy in.

I have a hammock for when I don't feel like lugging around a tent.
