Post and discuss your flashlights. What does /k/ like for edc lights? What about vehicle or stay-at-home lights?

I just got a Surefire g2x. Good flashlight for the money and it's pretty lightweight. I couldn't see it being an EDC light though, and I just keep it at home around the house, or in the car.

Not sure but IMO Surefire breaks are very overpriced. If you are in the market for a muzzle device I would go with either the standard a2 birdcage or a BCM gunfighter.

I'm ashamed to admit but I bought a cheap one for my HD gun to just have something until I get more money and it's actually not a bad little light, bright as shit. I just hate how easy it is to accidentally trigger 'on'.

>>30771880
Because you know I'm right? The switches will be inside or close to your house so no point in rushing out there with your fucking light kid
>>
>>30771893
The light form your porch will only serve to illuminate you and prevent you from seeing out into your yard by washing out your vision. Get a flashlight.
>>
>>30771892
I bought the same one at a gunshow.

It had the laser attachment and that thing is pretty shitty. Its adjustment screws barely work. I had to force move the laser with the tip of a screwdriver. I finally got it lined up, though.

The light isn't bad. Its bright enough to illuminate my entire living room.

Oh yeah, the screws. That's another thing. But for what I paid, can't bitch too much. I decide to leave it on my HD gun for that reason of the shitty screws. Once it breaks i'll use it as a light around the house or something. Being broke collegefag is taking its toll since I bought my AR.

Is there such a thing as a featureless body for Surefire Scout lights? I'm getting a light mount put on a Benelli M4 and it has a .8" ring. I'd like to use one of my scouts but I'll have to mount it with the "legs" on the bottom of the body facing outwards which isn't ideal.

Anyone make just a smooth body that is compatible with Scout heads?

pic unrelated. not a featureless body.
>>

Bought a Surefire Fury Intellibeam recently.
It's nearly as amazing as reviews make it out to be.
It's basically magic.
It's a superb EDC light, since you have up to 600 lumens to work with and no need to manually pick a suitable output level for a given situation.
The only downsides are that 1) because of the way the brightness sensor works, it's realistically going to be running at or near full output most of the time, so it'll run through batteries faster than a manual dual-output light and 2) because of the way the brightness sensor works, if you point it at a retroreflective surface, like a street sign or a stripe on an ANSI safety vest, the brightness level will tank as long as it's pointed directly at it.
But those are really minor quibbles compared to how smooth and transparent it is 99.6% of the time.
If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

You are a funny guy. "Muh position". Go ahead. Shoot blindly at someone. Do it and see what happens. Without illumination you probably will not be able to see them to hit anything anyway. You are the kind of guy who doesn't use weapon lights because he doesn't want to give away his position. Ever heard of an off switch?

>>30771892
If anything, try the 1L as a rifle light. If I wanted to save some money, I would have tried one for my ar15. fwiw, Frank Proctor has been using one on his rifles for ~4 years now and I don't think he has had any issues with it.

I would be apprehensive about trusting a $35 light on a weapon but Proctor knows his shit.
>>
>>30772076
You're one of those niggers who watched haley and gets off to him spewing marketing shit and denying his ND huh? What do you think flashing your faggy light's gonna do? There goes your night vision while not ID'ing anything in that flash second and also giving away your position and asking to get shot. Even worse since it's out in the open instead of indoors. But go ahead and get yourself and your kids shot.

>>
>>30772109
Your "night vision" will not identify anything. As I said before, the flashlight has an off/on switch, and many, like my p2x fury, are momentary on. If you are in a self/home defense situation your "night vision" won't do shit for you and you must be able to see to hit a target.
>>
>>30772214

Thanks for the reply,

Looks like I might actually be able to just find an "E-series" Surfire body on ebay and put a Scout head on it. I'm reading they're compatible.

It's not even here yet, arriving later this week.

Using an AVA light mount though, here's a pic

It has a .8" ring, but can't use a flared endcap either, it mounts insanely close to the gun but all other options are pretty shit for the M4

Some people seem to have used Surefire Outdoorsman as well

I bought a Streamlight Polytac about 2-3 years back. I use it every night (third shift securityfag). It is only rated at like 120 lumens, but damn if it doesn't seem brighter because the center focus beam is really strong and throws far. I guard a large facility and some rooms are like 40-50 yards across, and it illuminates the far wall no problem. It has never let me down. Best $40 I ever spent, really.

What do you think the rifle/pistol flash is going to do? Light is good for reacquiring a target too. Plus identifying who the target is.

What about when the power is out? Prime looting time for that. Cant just turn your lights on.

for camping, bug out bags, vehicles, spare lights, etc you can use any brand you like, some people like thrunight, I prefer Fenix myself, I have had a TK11 and currently have an HL50 and PD35

for areas where you can have weapons, and for non-weapon mounted lights you by either 6 D-cell Maglights or the LED MiniMags, I have some rechargeable 6Ds that I keep around because I can always depend on them, and bug out kits and emergency kits get the MiniMags because they run off of AA batteries that can be found anywhere and their reliability is legendary.

For weapon mounted lights and duty lights that you need to depend on in critical situations you buy either Surefire or Streamlight, accept no substitute. I have Surefires on all my defensive longarms, a mix of 6P defenders, G2Xs, M951s and M900s, and Streamlights on all my handguns.

Well anon, some of us actually leave our homes and go innawoods. There are no patio lights innawoods anon.
Maybe if you told mommy to stop bringing you hot pockets and diet mountain dew when she comes downstairs to empty you piss bottles you might develop a desire to stand up and walk around.
Once you start to walk around you need someplace to go and innawoods is a great place to be. If you find yourself innawoods at night you will in fact need a flashlight.

There are no good flashlight holsters. Custom Carry Concepts's "Basic Light Carrier" is probably the least bad, but it has a Kydex belt loop so after a while (maybe a year or so) it'll break and fall off your belt (ask me how I know) and it isn't pitched inboard at all, so it prints like a motherfucker under untucked shirts, so it's a no-go if you're trying to conceal a gun at the same time.
