Really nice, and definitely lighter than my diamondhead was, by about 5oz I think.
iirc it's 19.7oz for the diamondhead vs 14.6 for the geissele.

What are the odds of a FTF being caused by using too heavy of a buffer? Bolt-over-base is what it looked like at the range on the 4th. 14.5" carbine gas upper using an H3. No suppressor.

Got blem rail and swag pack today, had no blems on it whatsoever besides maybe some sort of milling mark on a concave near where the screws go but that's it, and its on both sides so it still works. Also got lower today and going to file stamp for it tonight
What 10 inch 5.56 barrel should I get?

>>30514832

Be honest.

Worst case scenario: a Democrat controlled House, Senate, and Presidency rams a law through that requires owners of Assault Weapons (especially AR-15s) to "turn them all in", with what the government deems "fair market compensation" of course. Anyone caught with an assault weapon after the grace period would be guilty of a felony, subject to a large fine or prison time, and forfeiture of their 2nd amendment rights.

What would be your course of action?

Is a nitride/melonite cam pin in a regular BCG a bad idea because of the difference in hardness in the carrier and cam pin? I've been looking at the V7 cam pin to reduce wear in the upper itself but I don't want to damage my carrier doing it.

$350 is almost as much as an LMT lower.

It would get you a built BCM lower. I think you could do better on your own and still end up completely mil-spec or better.

I really like Aero lowers. Good QC, all in spec, and budget friendly price. To be honest the lower, with exception of your trigger group is not somewhere you need to spend a lot of money.
>>
>>30515736
Breh if youre budget is 350 for the lower alone get a sick billet lower with EDM magwell+/- matched EDM upper

The reality is fancy uppers/lowers are mostly for show (with some extra features like captive springs and set screws and upper-lower tensioning screws to take out slack, in additional to tighter tolerances on EDM magwells), so they're the first thing out the window when budget conscious AR people are designing a rifle. If that's not you, go nuts

Haha I spent $900 on a Bushmaster patrolman's carbine back in 2011. The piece of shit had so many failures to feed.

Is anyone open for an ammo discussion?
As per the conversation we had a while back I'm beginning to realize the M193 out of my 10.5" pistol isn't going to cut it. Reliable fragmentation stops around 35 yards out, and it'll start ice-picking around 60yds.

I'm beginning to consider stocking up on some other ammo for my 10.5", so I'm looking for suggestions.

The other option is to sell both my 10.5" and my 16" ARs, and build a 14.5"+Muzzle device along with an 18" SPR.

Thoughts?

I imagine it has something to do with the unbridled power of the most painfully obvious oligarchs this country has seen.

Please talk about ammo options for a 10.5" pistol, or should I just sell my ARs and build rifles which can shoot M193?

BTW awesome trip handle. For a while my band was considering that for an album name.

I can find 1000 rounds of decent M193 ammo for $320-$380

1000 rounds of Mk262 Mod 1, 77 grain clones starts around $800 and only goes up. That is around a $400 difference minimum, and for that much money I could easily make the difference up and sell my 10.5" to build a 14.5+muzzle device which can shoot M193.

I've got a few retarded questions incoming.

What are the advantages of buying these other mag releases? Different texture, smoother pull?

What about the buffer tubes? Can they vary so much in mil-spec vs. custom design?

Also, how are you fools enjoying your BAD lever? Worth it?

The shockwave with the steel buffer tube comes out to $100. The Sigbrace without a buffer tube is like $150, and it is worse.

The more Shockwaves are out there, the less likely it is that the ATF changes their position on it.

If you put a cheek saddle on it like mine, please don't write a letter to the ATF asking if that is okay. It is perfectly legal until they say it isn't.

The Shockwave is definitely better.

If I plan to have 2k-3k worth of 5.56 for my 10.5" and 16" Then I'll have to spend at least $400 extra on ammunition to get stuff that will have acceptable terminal ballistics out of my 10.5".

Building an 18" SPR and a 14.5+Device carbine seems like the better move right now, because I can save money by buying M193, and I'll be able to shoot a wider variety of ammunition as opposed to being stuck with Mk262 and similar heavy ammo.

That is legit the cost of real Mk262 from Black hills. It is 75 dollars per 50 rounds.

Anyone know how far out Mk262 reliably fragments out of different barrel lengths?

Anone know if Mk262 can defeat level 3 and 3+ like M193 sometimes does?

>>
>>30517001
Between 105 and 175 yards from a 10.3" barrel, depending on whether you believe it makes 2400fps from it or not (quickload shows 2380 up to 2470fps from a 10.3 depending on powder without exceeding CIP pmax).

I had fun shitting all over some anon a week or so back that claimed it stopped fragmenting at 15 yards.

I got some IMI 69 gr "razor core" that functions the same way, match grade using a Sierra matchking otm bullet.

as for penetration on 3 or 3+ it wouldnt out of short barrels, or possibly even a 20" due to velocity dropoff

Holy shit those are fantastic numbers. Fragmenting at 150yds out of a 10.5" almost sounds unreal. Just to double check you're talking about Mk262 style ammo?

I've heard mixed reviews about the IMI M193.
What do you guys think about this IMI Mk262?

http://www.eagleeyeguns.com/product_p/imirzcc.htm

It looks like real deal Mk262, and I do love the Israelis.

Still for 1000 rounds I'm paying $450 more than M193. Shouldn't I just build longer ARs and then not worry about it? In SHTF how much Mk262 is going to be laying around? The vast majority will me M193 type ammo right?

I'm probably over thinking this. Mk262 does seem pretty awesome though.
>>
>>30517001
>can mk262 beat rifle plates?
Depends on impact velocity, just like every other load.

Requires about 2500fps to penetrate reliably and 2350 to slip through occasionally.

Coincidentally, those are very close to the velocities required for m193 to do the same.

So: 10.3 no, 14.5 and longer yes

I seriously hope you're kidding. Were you the one who linked that old ATF letter regarding the SST1 cheek saddle and the sling mount?

Did you see my post explaining how that letter only pertains to the particular configuration they were talking about, namely the CAA cheek saddle and the sling mount? Nowhere in that letter does it refer to the Shockwave.

If you actually wrote a letter I'm honestly impressed with your self righteousness. There are literally several threads on AR15.com where people discuss that the obvious thing to do is to not right any more letters.
