The TA31 (not TA31F, TA31RCO, just TA31) has a carry handle mount and the drop is configured for 55gr out of a 20 inch barrel and it takes sitting on the carry handle into consideration. I have one on a m16a1 clone because I am an asshole; it is fun to shoot.

Ok, so I got a domestic violence charge when I was 16 because my parents wanted to get me arrested in some misguided attempt to exert authority over me, my record was sealed by the judge. I went though an FBI background check to join the military and all they found was the arrest record, not the DV order but they did later get that from me because I had to show them why I had an arrest so whether I'll get in or not is pending. Anyways, can I pass a 4473 and am I legally allowed to own a gun with a sealed DV record from when I was a minor. I think I was charged as an adult.

Alright gents looking to get my first AR (and for that matter my first semi auto rifle over .22lr).

Primarily want it for target shooting and SHTF insurance. I'd just assume use my pistol for home defense so I was thinking a 20 inch barrel if I go with 5.56.

I'm also partial to .308 though, since it strikes me as more practical (I can hunt with it if need be and share ammo with my bolt action). Thoughts on ARs in .308? What barrel length would be best for a .308?

that set up is fine, the only issue is unless you plan to use and A2 FSP you are going to have an exposed gas block. Look into a longer hand guard or use as A2 FSP. For a simple set up its fine. The jury is still out on melonite, simply because chrome lining has been a standard for such a long time and will continue to be. That being said melonite is a decent cost saving alternative. Its a better option than nothing.

For your rear sight get either mbus flip up or a legit surplus carry handle. Donot get airsoft or UTG or anything cheap

ALG blem rail arrived this afternoon! They omitted the gas block on mine as well. Still no word from Geissele about the order I tried to place at midnight. I read back over it and thought it was a decent customer service request. I wanted 3 SSA-Es and a 15" MK8 mlok...about 500$ worth of stuff. Hope they're still willing to take my money.

So many parts were sold out this weekend there was no way to get everything I need. FFL transfers here are 37$ (or more) and I'm loathe to buy even an Anderson lower online...
This has been a slow process, trying to be so picky about things...

I built mine over four months or so. I've put $1800 into it I think, saved several hundred dollars just waiting and being picky. Would have saved even more had I waited for a 15" MK8 DDC blem.

Mine has no real discernable blemishes.
I guess someone didn't clean a fingerprint off before coating or something, but it's almost invisible.
Also, no gas block but I did get a swag pack. Tan hat.
