Ive used it briefly.

Its good. Its NF after all.

Its still a $1200 1-4 in an era of $1300 1-6s of similar quality, or 1-8s of slightly lower quality.

The AR 15, which stands for Adolf's Revenge 15 million, and which was designed for a second holocaust of 15 million jews, fires the exact same bullets that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. There's absolutely no reason for a civilian to own one of these and it's time for America to adopt common sense gun laws.

Weapon light alternatives to surefire?

Is the primary arms gen III worth a damn? Is there even a tape switch for it?

I'm also looking at the streamlight but really want one in FDE.

What about a surefire like a 6px or gx2?
Are those compatible with tape switches and would they hold up? I think the 6px is the same but with an aluminum body?

If you know your load's ballistics, having MRAD in the reticle let's you hold over without dialing if you're taking a long shot in a hurry.

Do you know how your Vortex compares to a SWFA SS 1-4?
>>
>>30505561

They're about equal in my experience. I'd go with whichever you can get for cheaper; you'd be satisfied with either. I do think the Vortex is a little more compact and lighter, but I'm too lazy to double check that right now.
>>
any 9mm AR15 fags in here?

I am assembling my 9mm upper tomorrow because my rail is going to come in the mail.

My buffer setup is a JP .308 spring, CMG 9mm buffer and a Spikes 9mm buffer spacer. Should this gun run pretty decent on that setup? im gonna be shooting cheap ammo and possibly trying out some NATO just to see how it cycles.
>>
>>30505561
>>30505580

Ok, I checked the specs. The SWFA is about 2 oz lighter, but the Vortex is about an inch shorter. I'd go with more compact, all other things being equal.

I'm waiting on my stamp right now for a 7.5" AR9.

I know they life VERY heavy buffers, but I can't speak to that exact setup.

They have more recoil than you'd expect too; the blowback operation creates a jackhammer effect with all the mass reciprocating.
>>
>>30505609
I'm gonna have to go with the SWFA, It's lighter, SFP so a little better for CQB, and it's on sale right now for $320.

>>
>>30505722

what kind of upper are you going to use? If you don't have a fixed FSP, I'd use an Aero mount and get offset buis.

If you have a fixed front sight, be sure to get a QD mount if you want quick access to your BUIS. I suggest an ADM recon mount in that case.

I recommend the ADM scout over the recon. It only had one throw lever (vs the Recon's 2 levers) so it's lighter and cheaper. You don't need the second lever on a 4x optic.

Looked at Tacomas at all? Underwhelming at first coming from big American V8s, but the motherfucker just runs.

By this point on every American truck there would be shaking, rattles, rust, all other manner of nickel and dime shit. Taco I just change the oil every 4000-6000 miles and pay Toyota $35 to run it through the major checkups to tell me everything is healthy.

>>30506280
The TA01 is my favorite ACOG for a carbine. Good reticle, no fiber optic daytime bloom, enough energy in the tritium to take care of low light/no light while maintaining very precise markings/crosshairs. Iron sights on top that work good for 25 yards and in. Bonus being you can find them cheaper than most of the other 4x models.

>>30506305
That's what I thought. I remember that red dot being weak as shit on the dual color model.

I try to keep the whiteness levels up when able. Would obviously meet/shoot/drink/grill together before coming blasting on the land, but I already know you come from good NC stock and are not likely to shoot baby deer, people and/or pets. That's more than I can say for some retards unfortunately.

CA is awesome, the country is gorgeous and the people who don't consider themselves valley children or city dwellers tend to be okay. the state/national parks are wonderful and the coast or to die for. it's the people that suck. the weirdly self contradictory, permissive yet simultaneously dismissive belief structure its people frequently espouse is what is cancerous.
they've picked up the worst parts of liberalism and provincialism at the same time while believing themselves superior to either. they consider themselves to be epitome of acceptance and that is a point of pride yet despite being low information and hilariously provincial themselves (turns out having immigrant slums makes you worldly), they dismiss anyone they perceive to posses less information or be more provincial as inferior. "flyover" came up a lot in discussions.
it's very analogous to the whole "new york city sucks in every way but im tough enough to survive it (you wouldn't you bumpkin) and wouldn't trade it for anything because I'm so informed for living in new york" mindset, in a strange sort of way.
the really fortunate park of this arrangement is that very few people from either coast will consider living anywhere other than the coasts. the unfortunate part is they pollute other coastal states with the political influence and coastal states tend to be fairly important politically.

I'm going to buy my very first AR. I've been told that 14.5" middy BCM or DD is a decent gun, but it may undergassed with some ammo.
I live outside US so NRA doesn't apply to me so barrel length isn't an issue, but since all ARs up here are imported they have pinned and welded flash hider which might be an issue for some further modifications i believe.

Would you recommend 14.5" middy for the first AR?
>>
>>30508694
I guess it depends on what you want to do with it.

You can't go wrong with bcm or DD.

There you go. A mil-spec clone made by the guys who make the majority of M16s in service.
>>
>>30508694
>Would you recommend 14.5" middy for the first AR?
Definitely, yes.
It should run pretty much all ammo, you can change to a lighter buffer if it doesn't run with your cheap plinking ammo
>>

I met a guy that works for them when i was out with family at a resturant. we talked guns a bit, and he said since they got some investment capital, quality has gone WAY up since he started with them about 2 years ago.

he showed me a few pieces that he owns that are basically testbeds for new designs, and they are using good steel on the barrels, and nice billet.

>>30508728
they havent ran out of the ones they were going to issue in the 60's. they just throw them in a fancy stock, pretty em up and call them DMR's.
>>
>>30508776
Oh wow. I'm Army and I've never actually seen or heard of those before. Neat.
>>
>>30508788

Yeah they're pretty cool but don't seem very common in service
>>
>>30508735
That'll be perfect then.

Do you know what optic you want yet?

Aimpoint T1/2 is hard to beat, but if you spent all your dosh on the rifle check out a primary arms advanced red dot as a great cost effective alternate
>>
>>30508798
A bit of research says that they are only in use by the 3rd Infantry Division, as they were purpose built for them. Special forces has similar rifles that were developed independently.

Very cool. I'd love to have something similar.
>>
>>>30508728 (You)
>they havent ran out of the ones they were going to issue in the 60's. they just throw them in a fancy stock, pretty em up and call them DMR's.
They have run out of them though.
There are no parts, there are even fewer parts to suitable to condition existing stock into DMR quality rifles, nevermind maintain current DMRs, DMR quality rifles have service lives fractions as long as other options such as the M110 and require multiple times more maintenance while technicians skilled in the maintenance of the accurized m14 dwindle in number.
As far as I can figure, the m14 is only on the chart at all to further shove it up the ass of retards how worthless the rifle is. 20 years of army tier budget could not fix it. Let it die.
>>
>>30508785

Good to know about bear creek. As cheap as it is it's not a huge loss if it's somewhat shitty.

While recce16 is $1881, but it's 16" mid

Whereas DD
https://danieldefense.com/firearms/mid-length/daniel-defense-m4-carbine-v5-s-mil-spec-1448.html

costs $2311

Worth to pay more?
